Hey all! As I'm currently sitting here seething that I can't do shit because of the flu I'm wondering, how often do you get sick? Do you get your flu shot? Do you get over it quickly? I caught this because my mom had it first, but I don't blame her, she works with the public so you can really get anything. I normally don't get too sick though.
I got my flu shot in October of last year but that didn't end too well for me since I found that I didn't have the energy to do anything and had bad shaking spells for a couple of weeks so I'm not doing that again. Anyway, when I do get the flu, it usually lasts a week at most and it only happens every couple of years.
I went ahead and skipped my flu shot this season, due to steroids I have to take from one of my prescriptions. So far so good in the sick department, however. I got some food poisoning (again) back in December, but everything has been smooth otherwise. Sickness isn't something that gets me down too much.
its been years since ive gotten sick, and im pretty sure ive actually never caught the flu before despite not having gotten flu shots in almost ten years or so?? its very rare that i get sick enough to take a day off, the last time that happened was five years ago!! but to make up for it i was constantly getting colds all last year ;;
Heck yes I got my flu shot! Two reasons. First I work in a hospital, so I am exposed as hecc to all sorts of nasties, and more importantly I'm exposed to the people who are exposed to the people who carry those nasties, and I don't trust them to wash their hands. Second, my immune system is weakened, so I need all the fortification I can get. It doesn't help that I have co-workers who leave their nose-blowing tissues on our shared desk or that those very same co-workers all dip their hands into the same bag of chips... but I do my best. I can get help with surviving the flu, but colds and other bugs? I am in enemy presence. Anyway, I hope you feel better soon, Azazel. It's rough, but you will get past it in time.
I am terrified of needles, so the flu shot is a huge nope. I actually have caught the flu before when I was little, but I weathered it out in a week. Usually I can shake off a cold in a few days to a week, but this year I got a nasty one that took me a week to get over
I used to only get sick once or twice a year, but now it seems like I have a fever and a sore throat every other day. Whether my immune system is declining or I’m just noticing it more, I’m not sure.
I get the flu shot every year now because I get it for free. I also get other shots as well because, they are free due to working for walmart. I'm a janitor so I get exposed to ten levels of nasty ever single day so it helps to have some immunity. For me though I get sick every so often and it's not hard to with my job. Usually I don't need to call off, but when I do get sick I usually take some extra precautions.
I used to get flu shots but not anymore. Either way, I tend to be vary good at powering through illness. The past couple of years, all I've gotten is the sniffles or soar throat for a couple of weeks and maybe a fever and I live on a germy campus. I'd say that I get through illnesses pretty well, and the vitamin C I take every day does help.
I get a little sick every six months or so (sore throat, little fever, maybe a bit of a headache) but it usually only lasts a day or so. Sometimes it is a little more serious, and I'm left absolutely exhausted and miserable, but still just with a fever and sore throat. I rarely get sick to the point where I feel nauseous or can't eat.
