Following topics

I always try to make sure I follow every topic I make, because just like you I like to read the answers and responses to my topic, especially when I ask for others opinions in my topics.

 

I follow them, but I never get notifications. They're turned on, but I still don't get any

 

I do not need to use the Follow function, but I do survey them. Given my browsing habits around Lake Valour (or any forum, really), I just peruse entire sections at once, and I'm also inherently drawn to topics wherein I have posted. I'm not quite sure why that is - but suffice it to say that I do watch the topics I've posted in, and I don't really need the Follow function to do so.

You have them turned on for forums, but not topics, so that would explain why you're not receiving any.

I frequently follow topics I make and also sometimes topics that other members make. Most of the topics I follow aren't for personal reasons, but for "staff reasons" I guess you could call them. Here's an example:


I follow all those topics because if a reply is made in there, it'll usually require that a staff member replies to them.
This also includes topics such as the Bug Report Thread, Quick Suggestions & Improvements, the HTML Member Title Request Thread in the Donators forum, and etc.
But I also follow some of my own regular threads. I know I've followed a few in the Anime & Manga forum for sure. But even if I don't follow my own topics 100% of the time, I usually check the replies later on.

 

I follow my own when I want to keep up with it to read responses (which is most of the time). The only time I deliberately don't is when I want to just throw a grenade and walk away. Which isn't often. When's the last time I started a Spam forum thread? *shrug*

I mostly do want to keep up with what I ask though. I mean that's why I ask: so I can see answers and reactions. I sometimes even follow topics that aren't mine if it really interests me. Like the Daily Accomplishment thread, Writer's Block Help, and the Puns thread.

Anyways, I always forget about following topics. Sometimes it even default-follows me too. I usually use it for people's posts I want to keep an eye on so I can see when they update, or if I'm awaiting answers, or if a topic interests me a lot. For often then not, I forget about that little button and just lurk the topics where I posted for as long as I want to see/read answers/information/etc.
