So far we've had multiple areas of Japan, New York, France and Hawaii (plus Nevada if you count Orre). What places do you want to see adapted into future Pokémon regions. Personally I want the Pacific Northwest (I live there and think it would be awesome in Pokémon) and a South American region that could tie into Mewtwo's backstory (the sample of Mew DNA used to make it was collected in Guyana).
I'd love an Alaska, or any northren area really, region. Give Ice types the love that I feel that they don't get enough. Possible mess with the day night cycle based on the season oh that would be a perfect way to bring it back). Could be pretty sweet.
I really want to see a region based off Australia. This is partially because I am Australian, but the more I think about it, this country would make a great region. We've got desert, mountains, rain forests, the largest reef in the world, tons of introduced vermin, snow for a few months in certain places, poisonous animals and more! I'd love to see what Gamefreak would do with a region like this. I actually saw a Youtube video about this a while back...
Totally biased, but I think the San Fran Bay Area would make a good region. I wouldn't mind seeing a place based off the Pacific Northwest, Korea, Italy and Brazil.
The UK! But I'm biased. But we have great mythology here that would lend its self well to Pokémon! Our fae and ghost stories can be quite creepy! Banshees, Kelpies, Dragons, Gwyllgi, Will-o'-wisps etc. Greece would be cool too lore wise.
I'd like to see a new region based on an interesting country or place, but more than anything I'd really like for it to continue shaking up the formula on top of being interesting in design and atmosphere. Unova did the same gym thing, but each Gym Leader had a role beyond it that was showcased during the story, and Alola threw the gyms out in favor of having all of the Trials and captains and all that. With that said, an idea that just came to mind is the idea of a region set in the UK with a whole concept of "knightly dueling" and all that. Basically traveling around the various areas of the UK and instead of gyms or trials, you'd have to fight boss-trainers in different battling styles (single, double, rotation, triple, etc etc). Combined with what you mentioned about the fae and ghost stories and the like, Aero, I think it'd make for an interesting setting.
I think a Pokémon game set in Italy and Sicily would be cool. Italy has great geographical variation, so a wide variety of Pokémon could live there. It also has a unique shape that could be twisted for a more creative design. Additionally, the in-game representation of Sicily could be the evil team's base as Sicily was once the home of the Mafia.
I think it could be pretty cool if there was a region that was based off Siberia and some of the mountainous and jungle areas around Nepal, China, Mongolia, Russia etc. There are a lot of exotic animals and a variety of terrain for new Pokémon. There is also a lot of folklore they can use for legendary Pokémon!
I think India would be super cool for a Pokémon region. Think of all the beautiful scenery and nature it has to offer! Not to mention bustling cities. Also, it would be cool to see a Pokémon League designed like the Taj Mahal!
I think anywhere in the Mediterranean would be pretty cool for a region. Greece, Italy, Spain, etc. Because the Mediterranean is so damn beautiful, plus there's definitely enough animals to make cool Pokémon, and Greek Mythology/Roman Mythology have plenty of cool creatures that can inspire even more cool Pokémon. Maybe a Pegasus legendary?
Incorporating mythology would be such a cool idea for a Pokémon game! I always thought there could be a sea foam-horse Water-type starter to represent Poseidon.
A region based in Antarctica, cause it seems like some something they can do, and maybe a region based on Italy.
After Just coming back from Ireland, gotta give a shout out to it: Beautiful landscapes, and lots of medieval architecture that still exists to this day. Considering the social divisions between the south and north as well, I think Ireland has a lot of potential!
I know which video you're talking about xD it was pretty cool to watch But honestly, I think a region based off of Australia would be really cool to have. While it does seem like Ground and Rock types would be given priority there, there's plenty of diversity in Australia, allowing the game makers to be more imaginative for the region. I honestly would love to see the Pokémon equivalent of the Great Barrier Reef, or any of the other amazing parts of a Pokémon-ized Australia.
Of course this is a bit of a stretch but I really hope they somehow made a region based on Indonesia. With so much cultural and biodiversity, including remote islands with ecosystems untouched by man, myths, and legends it would create a wide variety of interesting Pokémon designs, I think. I really want a Komodo Dragon based, Poison/Dragon typed Pokémon Gamefreak pls I imagine the region would have a lot of water routes (because of course, it is an archipelago after all) and people would complain about 'too much water' but maybe instead of just surfing on the ocean surface we would have many underwater dungeons (like in RSE). It's going to be very similar to Alola and Hoenn in some aspects so like yeah, very unlikely to happen. OR a region based off Russia with tons of snow routes and mountain dungeons that would drive you crazy, but the game lets you ride Mamoswine or Winter Sawsbuck for fast travelling. There will be many ice, steel, fairy, and psychic types and if you travel deep into mountains, you may find some lava lakes where fire-types gather.
A region based around Australia would be really cool, yes I saw a very detailed video about it on YouTube and it looked super cool and was well thought out so I think it would be really neat to have a Aussie region.
I'm interested in seeing if they do a snowy region, while Sinnoh had points that were snowy I'm talking about a region mostly full of snow.
