So far, we have been shown Galarian forms for a couple of Pokémon: The Weezing line and the Zigzagoon line (featuring a third form not in any other region so far!) How many more Galarian forms do you predict there will be? What Pokémon should get Galarian forms? What do you think of the current designs? Since Generation Three is open to Galarian forms, I predict that there will also be Generation Two Pokémon as well. I want to see forms for the Azumarill line and maybe even the Tyranitar line.
I'm going to guess, though I'm not sure, that unless they evolve into a Galarian form from their normal form (Like Alolan Marowak or Exeggcutor) that only the regional variant will be in the game. (At least, the base game, maybe post game or they would be transferrable.) So I doubt any final evolution Pokémon shown so far will have a Galarian form. That would mean Tyrannitar is probably out, though it would be cool. Azumarill's line is a cool idea. I've always had a weird love-hate view of that line and I would like to see some alternate designs of it. I've made some alternate designs of Riolu and Lucario before, before regional variants became a thing I'm pretty sure, so it would be cool to see if one appears in the game. (And I would definitely use it if it does.)
Personally, I think we might see Galarian Arbok. Since Jessie and James used Arbok and Weezing in Gen 1, I think it'd be cool if they used the Galar forms in Gen 8. I'm just speculating, of course, but it's something that I think could happen if we do end up getting Galarian Arbok.
At least 10 more? And I've seen some Galarian HootHoot around, I'd love to see that! Maybe some Galarian Voltorb, to give it a great design, straying away from the only a ball design. Some Galarian Nidoking maybe?
I saw a Galarian Sudowoodo going around a while back andthat doesn’t seem too bad. Since it’s open to more than just gen 1, I’m hoping they give one to my girl Sunflora. She could use a new form.
I'm interested on that supposed Farfetch'd Galarian evolution, but I think Tauros deserves a form. That mon's been around since forever and still doesn't have any other form or evolution. Other than that? I just wanna see more birds, but I'm very biased. I think Taillow should get a variant too!
With a lot of them forms revealed being region exclusive evolutions, I’m going to guess there will be around 15 in total. Half of them will probably be for pre-existing Pokémon and the other half being evolutions. As for hopes, I’d love to see Luvdisc, Carnivine, and Spinda get an evolution. All three Pokémon don’t have much on their own and could use something to make them more interesting. Giving the Poochyena line Galarian forms could make a nice counterpart for Galarian Zigzagoon.
I really want Arcanine to get a regional form but is already in the dex so I highly doubt that'll happen this generation. Maybe Mightyena perhaps, I think it could use a little love so it would be neat if they did what they did with the Zigzagoon line and gave it a new evolution stage as well.
Honestly I have been watching Subjectively videos recently and I am in love with the idea of a Galarian Kecleon that is a castle themed, suit of armor mimic. But moving on from my bias I think the Snubbul line could work well to get a redesign for the Brits to have some bulldogs
Meh, don't you think Kecleon is perfect as is, though? Regardless, if I would choose a Pokémon, I'd want a Pokémon that resembles the Royal Guard that serve the Queen, the ones that stand guard unflinchingly outside the palace with their bright red outfits and their big, poofy hats. So, perhaps a Mr. Mime evolution building on this concept? I can definitely see it.
Smashing right in with some breaking news from that Pokémon livestream. Looks like we're getting a Galarian Ponyta, and it looks beautiful. I'm personally hoping that, if it is a Ponyta, that it's gonna be a Water/Fairy type. The reason I say that is because of the Kelpie, a fae from British folklore that takes the form of a horse in order to trick people into riding it, before it leaps back into the water and drowns them before eating them. Boy, that would be an awesome Pokémon.
Another Pokémon I think would go well with a Galarian form would be the Houndour line, Galar is based of England after all so how about a Houndour/Houndoom that's a ghost. England region gotta have a ghost dog even if the line's current typing probably works just fine for this region.
I have this horrible feeling it's going to mostly Kanto Pokémon getting Galarian forms, because lord knows they need to do SOMETHING to make these games appealing to people, and when in doubt, appeal to the people who have been with the franchise since the beginning and will buy them irrespective of quality. It'd be nice if they were just focusing on Kanto Pokémon to build pre-release hype, though. Anyways. I want a Galarian Meloetta. Two forms, when there are so many styles of music? Come on, Game Freak. This is the PERFECT opportunity to introduce a Punk Rock/Heavy Metal forme and a Classical forme. With spiky hair for the former and a long, flowing gown and tower hair for the latter. Maybe a Galarian Fletchling that looks more like a European Robin than a Japanese Robin...because the European Robin is THE Robin. It's Britain's National Bird! A Seviper patterned after a grass snake or adder would be pretty cool, as would a matching Zangoose that looks more like a stoat. A Galarian Starly would be great, because starlings are actually really pretty if you catch them in the right light...and plentiful. Maybe a Pidove that looks like a House Sparrow, too.
Galarian Chandelure: a fancy chandelier like what you'd see in a opera house (Insert Phantom of the Opera reference here)
I mostly just want Galarian forms of non-Gen 1 Pokémon. We already had a ton of Alolan forms of Gen 1 mons, we don't need more Galarian forms of them. A few good ideas that I can think of right now are: Unown - Based off of runic letters instead of the Latin alphabet. Absol - Based off of the Black Dog from British folklore. Druddigon - A Rock-type designed to look more like a grotesque and/or gargoyle. Pawniard/Bisharp - Based more off of medieval knights, possibly with a pair of new gender-exclusive evolutions for Bisharp based off of the King and Queen chess pieces.
I'm afraid this'll probably be true, the Kanto love is strong. I've been around since Gen 1 but even I think is too much and when we have as many mons as we do there's no excuse for really mainly giving special treatment to Gen 1 so it would be nice if they sucker punched us and kept away the non-gen 1s from us till release.
Oh, those galarian forms sound totally awesome. I kinda feel like drawing them to see what they would look like.
Similar to what BeZaRre mentioned I would love to see more chess pieces from Pawniard/Bisharp. King and Queen being the most best choice of course. Another idea I had was for a Witch/Hag version of Jynx that looses the Ice Type for perhaps Poison or Dark perhaps. Its long hair is mated and covering her face, just the eyes peeking through and perhaps the corners of her smiling mouth. Darker, dilapidated clothing and more sinister Psychic usage. I don't really want more gen 1 or anything, she just seems like a good fit for a witch form.
