Don't think anyone's done this yet so... Post here about different glitches you encountered while playing a game. Were they good? Were they bad? Were they just plain funny? Post here. I'll go first. When I was playing through Whisper of a Rose (Computer RPG) I had a hard time with the bosses. One time, when I entered the fight via save, the boss just...died. No seriously, the boss died and I didn't even hit it. It continued on with the story like nothing happened. And it happened more than once! I mean, sure, it helped me move along, but it took away the challenge the bosses had.
If you like glitches, definitely check out speedruns they have just a plethora of those. The most annoying glitch I've ever encountered was sequence breaking Diamond. I was playing Pokémon Diamond and ended up outside the map somehow. So I walked around and triggered this event out of order (I think I had a talk with a gym leader I hadn't beaten yet) and because of that sequence break, I could not progress any further in the game. It was the worst! I had to reset the whole thing.
I used to play Skyrim back in the day. And as many of you probably know, it has a plethora of hilarious glitches. One of my personal favorites is the giant's attack sending characters flying to the heavens. Gets me every time. XD
Once I was messing with cheat codes in Super Mario Bros DS. I apparently did a cheat sequence to unlock a Dummy level or something. It was like 0-1, no pipes, just a few holes, and the enemies were two goombas and two koopa troopas stuck into a 4x4 square. The game crashed as I hit the flag pole, and I only managed to see that dummy leve twice. I have NO IDEA how I got it to show up, and people don't believe me about it-only my cousin (if he remembers) as he was there and saw it too. :/ In Pokémon I've done MissingNo, Glitch City, 'M, Bad Egg (accident), Pomeg Glitch, Crystal's Coin Case glitch, and the Void glitch in Pearl. In Sonic Adventure I glitched through Casinopolis to get the Chaos Emerald quicker than normal, and fell through a loop Sonic '06 style. Edit: YOOO I was looking up New Super Mario Bros glitches and I found a image of something similar to the enemies I found.
Outside of KotOR2 (for as much as I love that game, it is glitchy as heck without the Restoration Mod), I tend to get stuck halfway up walls in ME2. Dunno why.
I remember a certain glitch in GTA online where you would spawn invisible and not be able to move. Hated it
I dont know how it happened, but I was playing overwatch's Lucio Ball and we managed to get the ball to fall through the floor for the entire match.
I just remembered a game breaking glitch I had in Pokémon Colosseum. At the underground town, there's some Cipher Peons holding a friend hostage. You're supposed to beat them in a row, however I blacked out at the last Peon. When I went back, they wouldn't talk to me, re-start the battle or anything. And I had already saved. Months of playtime (first time playing, I would get lost and was also busy with school) gone.
I love finding glitches and testing them out. I used a glitch on the Pokémon Yellow virtual console to get a lv100 Blastoise, Mew, and a couple other mons just for fun. I don't remember any in particular that I found on my own though. Maybe one day!
In Skyrim I encountered the gltich that makes you unable to progress in the Companions questline (the werewolf one) so I had to start a new save file to finish that one which really annoyed me because I'd been playing for weeks already and a fix was never released for this issue on PlayStation, which is what I played on. Oh wow, that must have hurt more than a little. Pretty sure it would have taken me a long time to even touch the game again since that's a really discouraging glitch to encounter.
I really, really love glitches. Most of them are really fun to play around with. One of my favorite glitches can be done in Earthbound. I think it's called the tent glitch, but I can get better results just by using skip sandwiches to clip through a wall in the first town and rapidly interact with the edge of the map. It confuses the heck out of the game. 80% of the time the game would crash/soft lock. These are from my Miiverse account. Sometimes the text box will freak out. Spoiler: Oopsies ... Or sometimes the game teleports me into the wall of a bar. Spoiler: Oopsies x2
I love glitches in video games: not for the potential exploits, but the weird enjoyment I find in watching games behave how they shouldn't. Once me and my sister were playing a ROM of Pokémon Red, and of course we had to do the MissingNo Glitch. The corrupted Halls of Fame were probably more entertaining than overpowering our Pokémon with a million Rare Candies. Surprisingly, I don't seem to bump into glitches accidentally, it's only when I know what to do will I poke a few bugs.
I usually don't accidentally trigger glitches, rather I find out about them and then play around with them and hope they don't break my game. I remember I would always use the Mew Glitch every time I played Red and Blue since I found out about it. I also used the MissingNo Gitch to get all my Pokémon up to level 100 by cloning my rare candies. I tried to activate Glitch City, but I wasn't able to for some reason. I think that was all I did in fear of permanently messing my game. I'm not sure if this is a glitch or just a cheat (I'm pretty sure it's just a cheat but whatever), but in Drawn to Life, I found a combination of buttons you could press that would make your player invincible until the end of the level. Needless to say, it was the only thing that actually let me complete the game because I sucked.
I think Bethesda games are infested. I was playing Oblivion's Shivering Isles expansion's main quest when I got to the part where you can choose whether to make the three adventurers in the dungeon get killed or go insane. I saved then chose to make the first one go insane. After a small animation from the adventurers below, my game froze. After turning my PS3 off ad on again, I decided to do the other choice. I restarted my autosave (after I entered the room) and chose to kill the adventurer and... game froze again. Since I had little-to-no space on my PS3, I couldn't have a back-up save, and the game wouldn't let me leave the room until all three adventurers die or go insane, so I was literally trapped. Hours upon hours of time on that save wasted because of ONE GLITCH!
Trust me, it's not because of your skills or supposed lack thereof. ... This is normally where I'd post a review done by The Completionist, but due to the video for this game needing to be taken down and redone I can't. ;;;
Oh..oh boy, Sonic '06.. I didn't own it, my cousin did, but we did some glitches on ACCIDENT to progress. X'D
