Any VG osts that purely stick out to you? Any Nintendo Franchise game osts stick out to me ofc, but I also really love portal osts like Reconstructing Science and some old old Sonic tracks... Hmm... Maybe Rune Factory too!
Nearly every Final Fantasy game has an outstanding soundtrack. Even the ones I don't like very much (like VIII) had excellent sound design, at this point I just expect a Final Fantasy game to have excellent music compared to whatever flaws it may have. Another one I really liked comes from the underrated game The Last Remnant. Even at its most generic, the music always fits what was going on. Then of course there's the Donkey Kong Country games, some of those songs are in my opinion the finest on the entire SNES and can still hold up today against modern games, despite being on a cart and not perfect CD quality technically. But there is one above all else. A soundtrack so magical, so amazing, it gives me chills every time. It's a work of art, there is just nothing with which to compare. OST of the year, every year: Spoiler https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sC0cvwnG0Ik Pure. Genius.
Bayonetta's "Let's Dance Boys" and "Fly Me to The Moon". Fallout 3, New Vegas, and Fallout 4 OST. Bravely Default's "That Person's Name Is".
Just about anything Grant Kirkhope made makes me happy no matter what mood I'm in, no exceptions. Especially the level themes for Banjo Kazooie just breathe atmosphere, which is great. Also the Donkey Kong 64 soundtrack is absolutely glorious, I love how [except for one] all boss themes are just the level themes slightly remixed but mostly just sped up. It's a genius idea, probably born from sheer laziness. I like that. Because I'm lazy myself too. Maybe I can be a genius as well. Also lately I've really been falling in love with the Ace Attorney soundtrack. There are some great character themes in there, but most of all I love all the Reminiscence themes. Again, they perfectly describe the sadness the characters have been through, and it's translated through those songs. I'm not one to be blinded by nostalgia all the time, so I'm not going to say "game music used to be better" (because I know that's not true), but I do feel like atmospheric soundtracks that can really complete the experience are increasingly more becoming somewhat of a lost art. Which sucks because I absolutely love those soundtracks more than anything else. (again I know this doesn't go for all games, and maybe I'm wrong altogether, it's just what I've experienced)
As @[member="Sanctuary"] can attest to, Kingdom Hearts has a freaking great OST. I mean, who can deny the beauty of this? The series probably gripped me as a child because of the soundtrack, and as I grew older, the lore and story is was further captivated me. I already love classical music, and Kingdom Hearts just pushes that button for me. I also agree with this. Seems like Square Enix has a great track record, eh?
A significant part of the credit for that track record is due to Nobuo Uematsu, man's a genius. He looks like a cool friendly old guy too.
The entire Kingdom Hearts OST. That's it. No, but seriously, I love the entire OST - there are just so many good songs that fit so many different occasions; songs that you can listen to at pretty much any given time. I have a playlist of KH songs on my Spotify account (imported .mp3's) that I listen to every now and then when I'm in the mood. Another honorable mention would be the Megaman Battle Network series (and a lot of Megaman games at that). Megaman music never fails to please me. Any Mario game has pretty good music too, without a doubt. Kirby's Nightmare in Dreamland and Kirby & The Amazing Mirror also had some cool jams. The list goes on and on...
Omg, you guys reminded me! How could I forget Square Enix's godly job at game OSTS. TWEWY had a beautiful soundtrack, the first soundtrack I ever truly sought after in my gaming history. Lest we forget smash for having a massive combo of every track we love.
Kingdom Hearts has a Fantastic OST Also all of the Metal Gear games. Then one ost that is dear to me is Pokémon Pearl. My first Pokémon Game.
To me it would be: Both Klonoa 1 and 2 OST really amazing music and perfect atmosphere Furi OST, its full of really good indie artists and the music really make the fights in the game hype af All MTGS OST's are amazing and Pokémon Emeral OST only because it was my first Pokémon game
