Have you ever had a game that you were super exited for end up not meeting your expectations? I've had this happen a couple of times. One is Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Gates to Infinity which I was really exited for but the tiny Pokédex and lack of a post-game kind of killed it for me. Also I remember when I was really exited for Bakugan online back in the day but that ended up being awful lol.

*wince*. My friend had the Wii version of Bakugan... and I'm still not sure how I feel about it.

There are some pc games I felt were let downs, like WoW for example, and a lot of MMORPG's. I just felt it was... too point and click-y. I have found TERA now, which is really nice. It's like ROTMG for 3D MMORPG, and Realm was like crack for me. I finally managed to quit, but had just maxed 2(or was it 3) stats, so I'm getting tempted...

ORAS. I suppose too much hyping it is a problem, but I expected it to be a good game, with lots of new features and it to have major differences from the original. Sadly, I was wrong, and I still haven't beat the game.

Rune Factory 2 was kinda like that for me, it's my least favorite of the series. The main problem for me is that most of the fun stuff doesn't happen until the second arc of the game and you are FORCED to marry someone to get there. I'm sorry but I wasn't too thrilled with the bachelorettes especially sine one was a kid in the 1st game (kinda killed it for me a little) and to be honest, I like playing the field in these games but never actually getting married until the post game. Rune factory 3 was okay because there were a lot of bachelerettes in the group that were interesting. Rune factory 1 let me down because of a stupid glitch. If you marry Melody, you can't use the bath house EVER Again. While you can get around this with items, the bath hous is critical to gameplay in this game because it's cheap and effective. The bath house gets more expensive in future installments but let me tell you it is CRITICAL to playing these games.

Another game that was a bit of a let down is on gaia online, lake kindred. The game has it's high points but the fact that it's a basic version of Pokémon, like gen 1 original red and blue basic, but with a ton of waiting in the real world for some stuff makes it only semi appealing. Zomg was good, Monster Galaxy, not bad because you have some CONTROL when you get a new creature and it has the same basics but some of the mechanics are different. Lake kindred is only good for generating gold.

Rise of Nations:Rise of legends is a bit of a let down but not for an obvious reason. Gameplay, solid and similar to starcraft. Storyline, awesome. Multiplayer against others or AI: not bad either. So why is this game a let down? It is too danged easy to cheat your way to victory. All you have to do is edit one line in a file then type in a basic give me command along with the unit or structures name and how many of it you want. BOOM you can generate as much crap as you can fit on the screen without crashing the game. INCLUDING HERO UNITS! Do you realize how game breaking that is? You can litterally amass an huge unbeatable army in 20 seconds! And the temptation to wield that ubsurd abuse of power is daunting. That is my biggest complaint about the game. Yes the coatl can basically take over anything without even fighting them but compared to that this is just plain bull*pika* "of all the stupid! Assenign! Shark jumping BULL**** "

----- So After further thinking I decided to edit this post and elaborate a little bit on why the cheating was a let down to me. Me and three other friends were playing this game in college challanging each other and we wanted to see who could do what and who could finish first. I decided that I wanted to just take my time and run through the game at a slow pace having fun. One of the friends starts doing stuff and we're like "dude how did you do that?" He acts like a jerk and gloats and rubs it in or faces asking us why we can't do this stuff. After about a week We figure something's up and I decide to investigate. I find out he'd been using alot of cheat codes and it made sense how he got certain stuff so easily. I told the others and the all got pissed at him for the stunt he pulled. He then went and spoiled a bunch of stuff for us and everyone but me basically quit after that. I guess for me cheating wasn't the problem so much as the person doing it. I don't have a problem with people using codes depending on the game and when they use them. But when you go around beeing a jerk about it like that former friend did then I draw a hard line. The game is hard for me to pick up even today even though I love it. It just feels like if that game wasn't so easy to do that with, maybe we could've had a better experience with it. So to all those reading this: It is a great game and I think people should play it. My wording on the coatl part needs some work too. Some people complained about the subjegation as a cheap trick. Do I think it is? No, I just think it's a little underwhelming because it A: made the other guys in my group complain about it being too easy B: It just seems a little unbalanced but in my opinion the imbalance ads to the fun through challange. Anyway. Since I insulted Madness unintentionally, I figured that I needed to add this bit to hopefully clear a few things up. Madness, I am more of a novice gamer and I tend to see thing through an odd lense at best. that said I had no intention of insulting this game, just trying to share some back story and interact. You have my apologies and I hope that maybe one day I can see this game the way you do.

Those are my 3 biggest complaints

Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy.

Honestly, I thought it was gonna be really cool because the backcover of the game said "Professor Layton's biggest adventure yet!", but...

..I guess I'll put the next part between spoiler bars because it might count as spoilers. Don't read it if you plan to play the game and/or you don't like spoilers.

The game starts of rather promising, with the squad boarding the giant airship. You travel to a northern town where you meet the archaeologist you have to help out. The main point of the story gets explained, you travel to a couple of places, do some things. After a few hours of playing, your new objective is to collect the Azran "eggs". You do this by traveling to five different places. There, you play through short stories that don't feel satisfying at all. After about four more hours, you've collected the eggs and are ready to move on. You hope the story will become better, but no, you play through the ending scenes and the game ends. Yay?

Sure, there are quite a few things about Layton and other characters that get revealed (I won't spoil anything), but when it ended, I was just like "That's all?".

This doesn't mean I'm not a fan of the Professor Layton series anymore. I'm just really, really disappointed about this game.

Saints Row 4 had an interesting concept. But honestly, it's such a different game from the previous ones that I think it should have been a spinoff so they could stick to the actual silly crime game theme in future releases, and not permanently make it an underwhelming superhero game. Part of it was a soundtrack problem: music only plays during some one-time missions and while you're driving. So when you beat the main storyline and when you stop driving halfway through the game (because you can run and fly faster than cars), you're essentially playing a rather bland music-less game. As for the execution of the entire game. it's like they tried to turn Saints Row into Prototype, and it just didn't work.

Qube. It's a portal-like first-person puzzle game that was really fun while it lasted, but I beat it in one sitting. It was a while ago, so I don't quite remember, but it felt like 30-45 minutes. I beat the game and I was like "... and?" I mean there was a nice Portal-like background story too, but the only time you get to make a choice relating to the background story, you don't actually get to make a choice. The game forced me to make the choice I didn't want to make. And since it was such a short game, a puzzle game at that, there is almost no replay value to it whatsoever.

A lot of games that were big in the SNES era I find have been remade disappointingly. Yoshi's Island DS? The new Donkey Kong Country games? Mario vs DK? Newer Kirby games? Skyward Sword? It's like they're trying to ride on the success of these old games by imitating what made them good but just making potato Jesus in the process. I mean that comparison in every way it can be taken.

I'm with @[member="Nate"] on this one. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity was a major disappointment.

Another one I can think of was Metroid Other M. As a Metroid fan, it was the worst game I've ever played.

My biggest personal letdown was the game Gone Home. It has such a nice atmosphere and story all the way right up until the ending. The ending is so, so horrible that it ruins everything that lead up to it. They had so much potential to have a very dramatic, very emotional moment with the main character, and they didn't take it. They instead had a bland attempt at an exposition dump, but they didn't really even achieve that, either. It was just odd and unsatisfying.

So let me get this straight. You believe that the entire game is a let down because you personally lack the self restraint to resist ruining everything for yourself and yourself alone.

By the way, I've played both of these games. I play them obsessively. You can, in fact, disable cheats. Not like you need to because you can, y'know, simply not use them.

Also, every single game ever made can be cheated in some way. Some games make it easier than others, but the fact remains that in today's gaming world we have tools like Cheat Engine and Developer options left in that make it easy to ruin absolutely any and every game for yourself. You may as well toss in every single game you've ever played onto the "disappointment" list.

Please, don't talk bad about fantastic games when the game is not at fault. There's already enough horrible games out there, so let's not make the good ones blend in with them.

I was trying to leave something out but no matter how I'll say this I'll sound whinny.

It has to do more so with a personal experience than anthing else. Part of it was someone I knew kinda ruined the game for me by cheating it It's a great game but for people I knew who didn't want to cheat it was, too easy. I guess what I'm trying to say is just how easy it is to cheapen the game. When I play other games and someone tries to cheat it takes so much effort. I guess I don't know how to word it. I love the game and story but when you know someone who turns out to be a troll and uses the cheats to do it... I don't know any other way to say it. Sorry madness I apologize, I'm not trying to bash on the game. I'm trying to point out how something albeit small was a big weakness for me. Basically it all comes down to a bad experience due to someone cheating and rubbing my nose in it. I try to prove him wrong and try to figure out what he did. When I figured everything out, what does the guy do, rubs it in more. The experience was cheapened for me after that and for personal reasons. I beat the game without cheats, but it's been a long time. Again I'm sorry.
