So, I was thinking about maybe playing Leaf Green over again when I relized; "Where is my old DS?". I wanted to transfer my old team into the newer gen games, but the old DS systems are so far obsolete, I'm not sure I could even go nd get one anymore. I know we are still waiting on that Gen 3 remake, but our gen 1 remakes are just as old! Think we can get both? Maybe they could release a Yellow Remake on the 3DS along side an Emerald Remake?

You do have a good point, but I think they will make a gen 4 remake before a gen 1 re-remake.

The original DS isn't sold anymore, I don't even think the DSi is still sold. In Best Buy, Target, and Game Stop stores in my area you can only find red and blue 3DS XLs being sold, nothing else.

You don't need a DS to play LeafGreen though, it's a GBA game...

    I don't think we'll get a RBY re-remake before a RSE remake.

I really hope they never make Gen 1 remakes. We've had so many games of Kanto already. Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Crystal, FireRed, LeafGreen, HeartGold and Soul Silver. It's kind of ridiculous that we need ANOTHER remake of those games. They should focus on either Hoenn or something totally new.

The main idea behind the gen 1 remakes (and later the gen 2 ones) was so that all the generation games were available to play on the modern systems (original DSs) and that they were all in some way able to interact with each other. Mostly, this was through migrating. Your gen 1 games could be played on a GBA or DS, gen 2 was on the DS, gen 3 same as gen 1, gen 4 same as gen 2, and then gen 5 was for the DSs and wasn't linked up with the original four except for migrating. So remakes aren't totally necessary because all generations are in the main series.

If they did make a Firered-Leafgreen remake, they'd have to cram six whole generations into one region, with a few version-exclusive Pokémon split between the two games. That's a pretty big challenge, and even HG/SS had trouble squeezing four generations into two regions. Mostly, it depended on players trading with Diamond/Pearl/Platinum or migrating from gen 3 as a means of making all the Pokémon available.

So maybe it would be more prudent to have a gen 1 remake that also had the regions and storylines of the later games tacked on, so that way you get your precious remakes and there's room for all the Pokémon. You'd complete Red/Blue, and then start off the Johto side of Gold/Silver (because you've already done Kanto) and then catch a boat to Hoenn to start the Ruby/Sapphire story arc. And then after that a new game with Sinnoh, Unova and maybe Kalos put together would come out. Bargain.

I don't really agree where you said that it would be prudent to make a Kanto game with all regions. There are already 11 games where you can go to Kanto. Plus, the DS's are almost dead, but not dead, so you can still transfer FR/LG Pokes to D/P/PL, and then to BW(2). If they did make a Kanto remake like that, by the 4th region, your Pokémon would be level 100, and I dont see them
changing the maximum level for just 1 game, and it really would cost too much money for people who just want only a
Hoenn remake or a Sinnoh one. They don't want the extra features that'll probably boost it up to around $80,
and the game itself, with all of its hard work put into it, would be outdated after the 8th generation, and the 3DS itself probably couldn't even handle 6 generations all in 3d, since 1 copy of X/Y of X/Y is 1.7 Gigabytes. The 3DS can hold 8 GB, I believe. If 1 region alone is almost 2 gigabytes, then in total, the whole game would be at least 10 GB.

They made the Gen 1 and 2 remakes only because it was completely impossible to transfer Pokémon from those games over to the newer games, so it wouldn't surprise me if we never got another remake, since the original DS/DS Lites are still usable to transfer from the 3rd generation up. However, since the GBA games are basically obsolete at this point, maybe they will remake the games that were featured in 3rd gen at some point in the feature. I'd like to I'd expect an R/S remake before an FR/LG remake, since Kanto is already featured in so many games, including HG/SS, which is a DS game. I liked first gen and it would be awesome for them to remake it, but I just don't see it happening any time soon

I'm sorry but it's going to be a VERY long time before they bring a game out with ALL the regions, they may never even do that. The fact is, it's going to be super hard for them to do that, if they actually plan to do it, the game won't be released within a year after the previous one, it'll take like two years to do that since even cramming an extra region in there is hard enough for them.

I'm really glad they chose X and Y over Hoenn remakes as the games aren't that important to me. I want to see new stuff, not just the old. A lot of people seem to be desperate for remakes because of nostalgia reasons. They might decide to bring out a Kanto remake but it's certainly not going to be as exciting as it was when FireRed/LeafGreen came out, at least not for me.

But yeah, I hope after X and Y we get Hoenn or a brand new game. If they bring out Kanto, I'll buy it, sure. I always buy the Pokémon games in the main series upon release. But honestly I'm not going to enjoy it as much as I would a brand new game or some kind of Hoenn remake. For the record, my first game was Yellow, so I'm not one of those people who sticks up for their first game.

And like said before, I don't even think the 3DS could hold a game with all the regions in it, it's way to big of a task. I honestly don't think we'll EVER see a game with every region in it. At least not one where you can explore through the whole region. In X and Y, it seems even more unlikely they'll include an extra region since they'd have to make the other region in a totally new graphic style with the whole 3D stuff, and compose a bunch of music for it too. I wouldn't say they'll never bring out another game with extra regions though, I'm sure they will.

I agree. I prefer to play games that are totally new to me than remakes of games that I've already played. It's just the exact same game with better graphics. I can't bring myself to even think of truly wanting a remake of any game I've already played.

What everyones missing is that while the DS itself isnt quite dead yet, the DS Lite is pretty much gone from this earth, and without it there is no way to transfer gen 3 Pokémon D: I keep hearing that the ds isnt gone, but it is. The DSi is whats still around, and it cannot be used in gen 3 transfers.

I'm aware that my 'idea' for putting loads of regions onto one game is far from feasible. It was just something I typed up to propose an alternative to remaking the single-region Kanto game with all the generations. Of course that kind of effort won't be made, since it's simply not worth it. The third gen games still exist and if nostalgia is that important to you, play them. If you don't have the hardware, use an emulator. And if playing the games isn't as important as keeping your old Pokémon, then you should be reminded that the original two DS models with GBA slots were available for a very long time and there were plenty of opportunities to migrate your Pokémon. And even then, you can get third generation Pokémon in later games, so it's not like having a third gen game and an original DS is the only way to get them.

Now if, and only if, Pokémon gets to the point where it might be reasonable to remake the older generations (as Nintendo games are wont to do), then I still think that my above suggestion (which a few people seem to have taken to heart) could be possible. I understand that such a game wouldn't fit on any portable system, so if this theoretical amalgamation of games were to be it would be released for a proper console that has the capacity to play it. Pokémon will most likely remain a portable game, but something like this would definitely be a console title.

No remakes!!! They completely bore me to death, sometimes it feels like I'm playing the game again (and when I'm done with a game I don't play it again).....that is all I must say lol.

All of my local big-chain game stores, EB Games (the Canadian equivalent of Gamestop) have a couple of DS Lites still on the shelf, and many in the used section. It's getting to the point you'll have to get a used one if you want one, but they are certainly not gone.

I'm pretty sure they sometime in the next decade, when videogame systems have reached their maximum growth (There's so much you can improve, really, and development is going exponentially faster), Nintendo will actually release a huge Pokémon MMO sort of game with all the regions or something. And then instead of releasing new games, shooting up updates or something like that. It's a viable market, and Nintendo will go for it, I guess. I'm not even sure if I'd like that a little or a lot.
