Y'know. That 'thing' or prop often employed to make the brandisher stand out from the masses, meaning that the haphazard tilt to that one guy's hat might just about be capable of conjuring up more meaning than neither you nor I could fathom.

Do you have a particular gimmick you unknowingly do every day? Maybe someone you know does? And it doesn't have to be a physical thing too; perhaps it's a particular word or article of speech that stands out?

As for me, I'm prone to doing the hat thing during the summer months. Heh. And gimmicks that I'm fond of who other people use? Easy; basically any gimmick WWE wrestling match!

I recently decided to start peppering in "But what do I know" into my language more often, like a catch phrase (or a gimmick). If I may be so bold to say so on my own behalf, I think I'm notably smarter than the average bear. My speech, mannerisms, contributions, and behavior all reflect this. Yet many people I have to associate with at work treat me like a blithering idiot, probably because it's hard to see or hear anything when their heads are stuck so far up their own backsides. *frustrated exhale*

Anyway. I'm now addressing this by passively inserting my own bit of condescension as a response to their own. When I contribute an idea or suggest an improvement, knowing it won't be accepted, I just preemptively shut myself down with a comment that doesn't disagree. The other party could say "Yeah, what do you know, ya bleeping moron?", or they could get the picture and say "Wait, what do you know? I would like to find out." Either reaction is appropriate with this new response, so it's a good one-size-fits all phrase that doesn't easily backfire.
