hi!! i'm kinda desperate at this point, so i was wondering what sort of anime or manga i should read or watch next. i'm not that into gore / horror and stuff, and i prefer maybe slice of life / romance / mahou shoujo types. for example, i like anime like puella magi madoka magica, and for manga maybe horimiya! (i'm not done with horimiya yet though..) can anyone recommend good anime or manga? it can also be an anime movie (like kimi no na wa, koe no katachi etc) thanks!!
I just finished Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid earlier today. That was a very fun slice of life show xD I think you should check that out if you haven’t! that’s the only I’ll mention for now before I start recommending 20 shows at once
^Agreed! I absolutely adore that anime. The absolute best comedy anime I've seen was Saiki Kusuo Psi-nan. From the art it might look a little silly and ridiculous, but it is far and away the funniest series I've seen and probably ever will see. Will always recommend it for those who like comedy anime! And if you're a Madoka fan... Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku is very very similar. Dark and depressing magical girl series, definitely a series inspired by Madoka. The main girl is very reminiscent of Madoka too haha. I recommend you give it a shot. =) The ending theme is one of my favorites ever!
Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun is a great, hilarious one. Your Lie in April is really great, but really sad too. Kyoukai no Kanata, I highly recommend, and others I’ll add to the list are Sound Euphonium, Plastic Memories, Kobato, and Toradora! Sorry if you’ve seen these anime already though ^^
yayy, thanks @karatekid770 @Sheep @vaporwave !! i haven't seen any of the recommended ones just yet except for your lie in april, plastic memories, and toradora, but i don't mind rewatching
I don't read manga very often, but the Pokémon manga is pretty good. I've been reading Zatch Bell lately and it's pretty good too. I'm guessing you've probably already seen them since they're pretty popular, but Angel Beats, Fairy Tail, and Soul Eater are good ones. If you want to take a chance on something that's slightly horror based, I'd recommend Ghost Hunt. It's kind of like an anime that's based on ghost hunting shows.
I have a great slice-of-life title for you: Barakamon. This is a terrific series, especially for aspiring artists.
Ever heard of Persona 4? They made an anime adaptation that was surprisingly good - kept to the source material very well while having the best dubbing I've seen in a long time. Beyond that, though, most of the anime I'm familiar with is pretty old - the Tenchi Muyo series, Outlaw Star, Cowboy Bebop, Love Hina (though the manga was FAR better), Kodocha, Case Closed/Detective Conan, Ranma 1/2, and others from the 90s.
@SnowboundBecca @Wolf Expert @nduns @ShinigamiMiroku thanks for all the recommendations!! i've watched/read/heard of some of them but i can still reread/rewatch and stuff hahah !! thanks again
@dangokura No problem. Sorry I couldn't be more help; I have largely given up on modern anime because it's either more of the same or trying to be different for the sake of being different.
I can't think of any off the top of my head... Oh! How about Interviews with Monster Girls? I've seen that and I think it's really good!
Special A and Kaicho wa Maid-sama are two anime I really enjoyed. I think they are both slice of life.
okay~ thanks !! haven't heard of any of them except kaicho wa maid-sama (i watched a little bit of that at my friend's house) but i'll try them! @VictoryStar34 @MarineAurora
Someone recently recommended 'Yona of the Dawn' and 'Snow White with the Red Hair' to me, and, though I haven't watched them all yet, I've checked through them. They're pretty good. Edit: They're both animes. #MissingNo
I'd strongly recommend giving Precure a try if you like magical girls. Suite is by far the best series, but if you liked Madoka I would imagine you'd get along better with HeartCatch or HappinessCharge...or perhaps even Fresh. Really, the best thing you can do is pick a series that looks most appealing to you and run with it; never mind what the fandom says. Also, Princess Tutu is perhaps one of the most fantastic series ever written and has everything you're looking for and several things you won't know you were looking for until you see them, too.
ahh, yona of the dawn! my cousin recommended that to me a few months ago, but i completely forgot about it xD but yeah, i'll watch these two, thanks~! @GiratinaMissingNo and yep, i'll try those! someone also recommended precure to me (i forgot when ) thanks!! @Zeria also, am i the only one who always calls anime and manga by their japanese names? the only reason why i'm using their english names on this thread is because, well, y'all are calling it by that hehe pokémon is probably the only anime / manga that i call by its english name, but then again, 'pokémon' is japanese. i still call it pocket monsters from time to time, though!
