Goomy's Randomized Platinum Nuzlocke!

Disclaimer: There are no actual Goomy in this run. I'm as disappointed as you are.​

So! I decided it'd be fun to start a Nuzlocke challenge, along with using the Universal Pokémon Randomizer. Everything about the game is randomized; all wild Pokémon, Trainer's Pokémon, and static Pokémon including Legendaries.

Rules​

• Only the first Pokémon encountered in each area may be captured. If the first Pokémon is knocked out or run from, you may get one second chance. If the second Pokémon is knocked out/run from as well, no other Pokémon can be captured. Shiny Claus and Dupes Claus also apply.
• Pokémon that faint are considered dead and must be boxed permanently.
• All Pokémon must be nicknamed.
• Legendaries may be caught but cannot be used in battle.

After buttonmashing through Rowan's speech (and realizing he looks kind of like my debate teacher--a grouchy old man who's always wearing ties for some reason) and dealing with Barry, I finally got to get my starter! And...

Cute, but nope.
... Oh my god. Is this safe to give to a 10 year old child?

Naturally, I picked Metagross. Named him Alkali because it's a group of metals on the periodic table and idk, it just sounds cool.


Which means Barry picked Nuzleaf. Also, he's rich now.
Then I realized I had made a grave mistake and by the time I was able to catch Pokémon, Alkali was too overpowered and kept knocking everything out. So, no captures for Route 201.

However, I was able to catch something at Route 202.


God bless you, randomizer. I love Vulpix. Named Petra because I was listening to Fall Out Boy and wanted to name her after Pete Wentz, but she's female and Petra was the first feminine name that came to mind after that lol

Headed to Jubilife, then to Route 203. Barry's second battle was uneventful, thankfully. Still no deaths. :>

Caught a Victreebel, though. These things creep me out.

Trained for a bit, and caught a Nidorino named Beowulf in Oreburgh Mine. Forgot to screenshot his summary, but he died shortly afterward anyway. My bad. Then we headed up to Route 207, but wasn't able to catch anything there. Accidentally knocked out the first encounter, and ran out of Pokeballs on the second: a really asshole-ish Gliscor that killed Petra.

After some more training, I finally got to challenge the Gym. Forgot to screenshot the battle, but Roark's Pokémon were randomized to Surskit, Glaceon, and Sableye.

Also, apparently his name is actually Daniel.
After beating Roark Daniel with minimal difficulty and no deaths, we headed back out to Floaroma. I forgot to go to Route 204 the first time I was in Jubilife, so by the time I got there my Pokémon were, again, to overleveled to catch anything. Oops.

Time to catch something on Route 207, right?

Nope, apparently I get to save the day first.

Still not gonna stop me from catching Pokémon, though. Technically not a random Pokémon since Buizel can be caught here anyway, but I'm not complaining.

It's almost 4am right now (whoops) so I'll stop the post here, but hopefully I can update tomorrow. Can't wait to kick Team Galactic's ass. >

 

It's a lot of fun; it makes everything more interesting--but also much harder--when you don't know what to expect. I probably would have picked Nuzleaf, although imo Feebas wouldn't be a bad first choice either--Milotic is cool, just a lot of work to evolve. :>

As for today's update, I got through the Valley Windworks, spent a few hours grinding, and decided I'd update the thread once I got through Eterna Forest.... And then I messed up while saving and lost everything I did.

So, yeah. No update tonight.

 

Once I finished being mad at myself for deleting my progress, I trained Kate for a bit and then headed for the Windworks. Nothing really eventful there; the only thing I was worried about was Mars, but...


....yeah.

After all that, I finally headed out to Route 205 and caught...

Not the worst thing I could've run into, I guess.

Trained Beek and headed into Eterna Forest, where I met Cheryl. (She got a Rhyhorn, btw) I wasn't really sure what to do about the first encounter since all the wild battles in Eterna Forest are double battles, but when I looked it up the best option seemed to be whichever Pokémon was the last one standing. So that got me...


A Froslass! That died shortly afterward.




Luckily, we managed to get through the forest without any other deaths. Headed out to Eterna City, checked out the statue...

...and then went to see what I could catch on Route 211.



Mistakes were made.

Anyway, time to challenge the Gym! Thank god Gardenia's Pokémon are randomized, because my team has zero defense against Grass types. (which I guess Bast could have been good for but shit happens)



Whiscash wasn't much of a problem for Lyra, thankfully, but tragedy struck on her second Pokémon.





Last Pokémon was a Shuckle, which wasn't too hard for Alkali.
