Time flies, huh? 30 years ago today, Sega launched the Megadrive - Genesis if you're in North America - which, despite not making quite as significant a dent in the market in Japan as the company may have hoped for initially, was far more successful in the West, where it outsold Nintendo's SNES for a time and became a clear rival, if not the dominant format for video games at the time...at least for a while. Whilst Sega were less successful at replicating the Mega Drive/Genesis' success with the consoles that followed, the games from this machine are still being ported en masse to the current generation of hardware, with individual titles and collections both readily available...and of course, it's getting a Mini sometime next year. Of course. So let's celebrate the Mega Drive, and 30 years of doing what Nintendon't! Did you have one of these growing up? What were some of your favourite games? Do you plan on purchasing the mini next year, or do you already own a collection for more recent hardware?
Whoa... happy birthday! Hard to think that it's been this long... and the Mega Drive/Genesis is so young compared to quite a few other consoles.
