Today is July 4th and here on the east coast it's just a few hours away from sundown. So, for anyone in America who's celebrating, do you have any plans for tonight? (Or did you have plans if you're seeing this thread after the fact) Family get togethers? Going to fireworks events? Barbecues? I'm not doing much this year. It's too hot. Later I might stand next to my window air conditioner and watch whatever fireworks I can see from here, but mostly just trying to survive the heat.
My famly and I used to go outside just to see the pretty fireworks, but I don't think that's going to happen this year. It might just be a regular day, and I'm okay with that.
I worked. The rest of my family went to Dad's side of the family reunion. I miss going up to Fair Haven to my Grandma's Cottage
So many places have fireworks that I saw them from three different locations on my front porch alone. Then my siblings and I made smores and ate them. It was fun.
Ooooh smores! That does sound like fun. I think actually have some smores stuff somewhere, I think I'll go make some.
I went to church, had hotdogs with chili, and shot off fireworks in the churchyard and lit up sparklers. You know...the fun stuff...
I went to my grandparent's house for lunch, but other than that I didn't do anything but sit at home.
We got back from a camping trip with a bunch of friends, technically our biggest Fourth of July celebration. Then we all went to a friend's (funnily enough, one of the families that we were camping with, and there were two others there from camping as well) and watched the fireworks from their roof.
What is so speçıal about July 4 besīdes ŪSA givińg 'independence' to country that ALREADY WAS INDEPENDENT before ŪSA conqŭered it? (Philippines)
It's the day the Declaration of Independence was adopted by the thirteen Brittish colonies, which later became the US. They, according to the name, declared their Independence from England, and joined together to defeat England in the Revolutionary War, resulting in their freedom. It is remembered to this day. (Edited out comment that I think was a bit too harsh in retrospect)
Went to a family BBQ, hung around for a while, took a drive down to the beach to see the fireworks going off. Pretty typical July 4th fare.
