Headphones have become essential in pretty much everyone's life nowadays. Wether it be from online gaming to relaxing with music at home, these devices make everything much, much easier. What headphones/earphones do you use?

For home use/gaming, I have a pair of Bose SoundTrue over-the-ear headphones. They produce great sound, and they can be pretty noise-cancelling too, which definitely helps out a lot when I'm someone stressed out, haha. When I'm out and about, I use the in-ear model of the above mentioned headphone, and it works just as well. How about you guys? Discuss here c:

I've gone through many pairs of headphones over the years, but only because I just buy really cheap headphones. Or, perhaps headphones aren't that long-lasting. I don't know.
Whenever it's time to buy a new pair I go to a local shop and buy the cheapest pair possible. I use headphones, not earbuds, as the latter just keep falling out of my ears and don't really help.

Headphones tend to last me anywhere from 3 to 5 years, but it's not uncommon for them to last much longer. I don't actually dispose of headphones until it becomes either difficult or impossible to hear out of one or both ears; even if the cushioning starts to fray there isn't need to get rid of it as I can still hear the sound. (Of course, if the cushioning just falls off entirely, that is reason to replace.)

When on the computer or playing video games, I use headphones all the time. This is not only to not disturb the other members of my household, but also to enhance the quality and proximity of the sound itself. Plus, headphones feel cozy.

These are the headphones I want

Unfortunately, I'm kind of poor and my parents are cheap. So I just use a pair of cheap brandless headphones or skullcandy ones that came with my mom's old business phone. Decent quality, but nowhere near the best

Can I just say some people call earphones headphones and it's really annoying.

Now that that's out the way, I use my metallic blue Phillips headphone for everything connected with sound. Mostly because my parents cam judge quite quickly when it comes to music.

They're good because the sound they give off is a realistic depiction of what you'd be hearing without them.

Some types of headphones make whatever you're listening to sound TOO good. Beats are a prime example. If you're mixing audio using Beats, whatever you're listening to will probably sound great. Buuuuut if you play the same recording through your car speakers, the overall sound quality suffers because the Beats made the balance sound better than it actually is.

If you can make your recording sound great on the Sonys, it will more than likely sound pretty good everywhere else.
None of this applies if you only LISTEN to music.

Speaking of earphones, usually I tend to use the one that is bundled with my Samsung phone, mostly when going outside. It sounds pretty good even when I plugged it in my laptop.

Headphones (1) are the larger plastic devices that go over the top of the head (hence the name), with speakers nestled mostly or fully over the ear.
Earphones, more clearly referred to as earbuds (2), are much smaller devices, with speakers designed to fit directly into the ear.

The reason that 'earbuds' is usually the preferred term is for clarity; people sometimes contrast headphones(1) with earphones(2), or even earphones(1) with earbuds(2). The term 'earphones' has been used to describe both of those things, so usually the terms 'headphones' and 'earbuds' are preferred so people know exactly what they're talking about.

I hate over-head headphones. We have the technology to not need a 2-pound hunk of plastic and foam on our heads any more. Let's move forward with technology.

I have two pairs of earphones I use: some in-ear Sennheiser buds which are noise-canceling and which I use at home and on the bus, and some around-ear sport earphones that aren't noise-cancelling that I use when jogging. You don't want a truck passing twelve inches beside you and not hear it coming.

They probably cost me $20 and $10 respectively, and they're perfectly great. Take that, Beats By Dre. Two pairs of great-sound, comfortable, and multi-purpose earphones for a tenth of the cost of your bulky nonsense.

I bought a very expensive and good quality pair of headphones from Steelseries, but I broke them within 2 weeks, hehe... Now I've been using a pair of shitty Apple earbuds for the last few months, but they work fine. Oh well.
