No offense, but I absolutely hate hidden object games (and I don't know why anyone likes them, but to the people who do, that's cool). My experience with them is this exciting procedure:

    - move my mouse procedurally across my computer screen that has over 2,000,000 pixels in hope that my mouse changes shape or highlights an object when it passes over the right 400 pixel object (which takes up about 0.02% of my screen, aka one five-thousandth of my screen or so).
    - randomly combine said objects in hopes they'll combine in the right preconceived way that may or may not make sense. A paperclip and some string so I can lasso a lever to activate a door? That makes sense, I guess. The exact torn-out page of a book that this random guy wants to see and which I've been carrying around since the start of my adventure and I don't know why I grabbed it? What? Bananas to lure a gorilla to a gate guard to chase him away from said gate? Okay, now you're messing with me. There are 50 ways to get past that guy, but I just had to get bananas for a monkey instead of a box to help me jump over the fence or some money to bribe him away or maybe wait until the shift changes or anything else at all.
    - stare at the screen as the character slowly saunters from this screen-sized room to the next as if he's taking his pet rock on a walk through the park whilst letting that pet rock move at its own pace.

Most of this experience comes from Machinarium. Highly recommended in general reviews and personally, so I'm guessing it must be good (for the genre), but I for one tried so hard to enjoy it for half an hour before quitting. The only good thing I can think of is usually they have nice visuals (and choppy animation, but whatever).

there are a lot of hidden object games out there
and i know not all of them are nice/great
but most of them are pretty cool
and i guess people should only even try and play them if they enjoy advanture/crime/detective kinda games

I like hidden objects games, even though I don't play them at a regular base. I remember playing a certain game (I forgot its name) for more than a hundred hours on our computer. That's quite a few years ago though. Too bad most games are in English, and they often ask to look for words I don't know what they mean :(
Then again, I guess playing more of these games allows me to train my English... >_>
