Hoard Encounters

I think they are very interesting. I'm really exited to see when/why these encounters will happen.

 

I think this is a good and bad thing at the same time. Good because it makes grinding for EVs a lot easier and probably increases the chance of encountering shinies. Bad because these things will kill me at one point in a nuzlocke or if my Pokémon are underleveled.

 

It looks cool Not sure how it's going to work but I definitely think the feature is neat.

 

Don't like it. Like Fizzysoda said, they could kill you if you are under leveled. And they seem pointless to me as well imo.
Don't remind me of Monster Houses! *shudders*

 

Anyone thought of Gears of War for a split second (Think about it; HOARD mode, HOARD Enounters)? :U

But yeah, Nuzlocking is so gonna suck at this point. XD

 

I really like the idea. Under-leveled or not, it'll make the game more challenging to play. Though I wonder how you're going to enter these sort of things. Is it going to be like, shaking grass or something?

 

It could be something like a new grass type, like dark grass in BW. However, I don't think there will be a designated type of grass for hoard encounters, I think that there will be normal grass, and then there will be dark grass that can yield 1-5 or more Pokémon per battle.

 

I find the idea of hoards really adorable. Like, can you imagine just a whole bunch of Pokémon gathered in a little circle being all cute in some grass. Sniffing the ground. Eating some fallen fruit. Sleeping. Eeeeee!!

On the other hand, caves and zubats.

One word, Zubat. This looks interesting up until you realize that if they are going to make hoard battles, there will be zubat hoard battles, possibly even as part of the main storyline just to troll people. I do still like the idea of five on one, kinda like a monster house in Mystery Dungeon, which weren't really a problem so much for me.

 

I really like this idea, Nuzlocke or not. It makes things more realistic. All Pokémon don't just live alone. Most of the live in packs. Just imagine a noob trainer accidentally stumbling upon the territory of some Salamances or something. Poor guy.

 

They would most likely have a new type of grass, maybe some really tall and dark grass? I don't think we'd be able to have these kinds of encounters in caves or while surfing. Double battles didn't happen in caves in Gen V.
Man, imagine what would happen if you encounter a hoard of Audino. You get a boosted exp plus 5 huge exp-giving mons, and if your Pokémon is holding a Lucky egg and has a different trainer ID by the end of the battle it will gain like 10 levels or something.

 

But if it could happen in caves also? Imagine a battle against five of our loved zubat...xD

I'm excited how this will play out! How the battle system would work, if you could perform your own horde battles, that'd be sweet! I wonder if this would be an implemented frontier if the Battle Frontier returned. Also, would it be in multiplayer? I don't know how this will play out, but I am excited to see.

 

I agree with this. There have been Poke'Dex entries saying that Houndour live in packs, yet there hasn't been an in-game pack, that I know of, until now.

 

I agree that it makes the Pokémon world a bit more realistic, with some Pokémon living in packs. It's pretty neat, and I'm sure it'll add a new kind of challenge to the gameplay.

Plus! I'm really hoping they use Hoard battles in the story line -- it'd be totally fitting for some members of the evil Team to cheat and send out five of their team against your one battler. It would be pretty epic!
