...? I've seen bits and pieces of DDLC because GTLive has been streaming it, but aside from a few hints of tsundere from that one girl and the... oddities... of the poems being written by all the girls, I haven't seen anything other than your standard dating-sim stuff...

I promise, this is not clickbait. Spoiler: DDLC Ok, so you want to know why a dating sim is in horror games? Read on. Your character is a shut-in, your best friend and neighbor is clinically depressed and commits suicide if you don't pick a certain path, each of the people are messed up in some way. Need to know more?
That doesn't mean it's a horror game, it just means the game can have horrible outcomes. Horror games are games like Dead Space, Alien: Isolation or even Until Dawn. Have a look at those games and what makes then horror games.
Seems like a human girl version of Hatoful Boyfriend. Starts off light hearted and fun then descends into darkness. (then the second hatoful attacks your feelings and makes you cry.)
Huh, interesting... but I gotta go with PokemonFan, it isn’t really a ~true~ horror game like other games listed.
I've only ever seen glimpses of it, but didn't bother looking at videos because I thought to myself "It's just another silly dating sim game, bluh." I'm so glad I didn't look it up. X'D
Thanks for the support! But @VictoryStar34 if you play Dead Space, Until Dawn or any other horror game listed by me or someone else, and compare it with DDLC, you'll see a huge difference.
i started playing doki doki literature club but i'm not too far into it yet. i like it so far though. as for other horror games, i try to steer away from them bc i'm a huge wuss.
Oh boy, Doki Doki Literature Club, THAT game. I love it but at the same time I hate it. I stayed away from it after one point because I was so spooked, but then my brother came along and made me finish the rest of the game, and it all made so much sense. Still, it was scary, and I'm not going back to it. Spoiler Monika, I love you, but I also hate you for basically destroying the script, and making two people commit suicide by doing that, and you also deleted another one. Monika you self aware jerk.I still feel bad, tho.
