Fire Emblem fans! If you've seen the new Fire Emblem trailer for Fire Emblem If, you'll see that there are two Kingdoms that you can "side" with; Hoshido, and Nohr:

    Hoshido
    [IMG]

The Hoshido empire is tied to your bloodline, at least, as they say. It takes on the traditional fire emblem story, where you fend off the Nohr invaders to save your kingdom, and hep build peace in the world.

    Nohr
    [IMG]

Coming to Nohr's side, it's a little more tricky - you invade Hoshido for 'power & glory', as well as fix the issues within the power-hungry Nohr empire from within. Accordig to them, it's also more challenging in that regard!

So, which kingdom are you siding for? Or are you rooting for both?
    Feel free to discuss!

I'll probably go with Hoshido honestly. 'Power and Glory' really isn't my thing. Though if I were to really have my way I'd probably find a way to get both sides to just. Be friends. Don't be angry and fight one another.

Though all the characters so far seem lovely, I can't wait to learn more about them!

True Neutral as always. I'm going to play Hosido first to ease me back into the mindset of Fire Emblem, then go with Nohr.

I'm going with Nohr. I like their character designs way better than Hoshido.
But, this is if I'm only picking one. Who said I'm picking one?

I'm sticking with Hoshido, I really like their characters and the capital. Plus, power is not my thing.

Hoshido because good guys win and I love their designs. I've always been more of a fan of the angelic-looking characters and given how bad I am at games like these the traditional FE style might be easier to adjust to in the long run. :c

Well the Hoshido path is supposed to play like past Fire Emblem games, where you can go around the world to train your units, in the Nohr path it's more linear but is supposed to have a more intriguing story--your character sparking a revolution within Nohr.
    Hhhhnnnnnngggghhhhh I can't decide!
I'm planning on waiting it out until they release the 'master' edition, with both storylines in one game card (including a neutral path), but I'm probably going to go for the Hoshido path first cause, if Fire Emblem: Awakening was any indication, I'm no tactician.

Acually, that was different than usual in FE: Awakening...

Anyway, I'm probably going to go Hoshido then Nohr for the sole reason of increasing the overall difficulty. I want to try out the game fully before I "play properly" with the Nohr campaign. I think I'm going to prefer the Nohr side of the story because 1. I'm a like into the chaos side of things, 2. I don't think I could ever leave the people who I grew up with, even if I found out I was adopted, and 3. The new Famitsu articles don't paint the Hoshido as completely goody goody
The dancer girl is the Nohr princess taken captive by the Hoshido. Totally called that the dancer girl would be the opposite to the avatar's situation in some way.

Oh... whoops. Yeeeaaah admittedly the only FE game I've played is Awakening.... I'm sorry FE fans, don't shoot me! ...or like cast magic on me, or stab me, or attack me with a Manakete or Taguel....

I'll probably go with Nohr on the first playthrough of this one. I loooove a good challenge, and siding with Nohr is sure to present itself as one. I find that in most games where players pick the "power" option, the game is more difficult--if given an alternative option. Of course I'll play as a Hoshido after the first time I play, though I will say that both sides look absolutely gorgeous.

I've been following the news about Fire Emblem IF somewhat sporadically, and while I don't remember it all off the top of my head, nor do I have a complete picture yet, I have enough to make an informed decision about this particular choice.

Now, I would like to say right off the bat that I detest the idea that the game is being made in 2 different packages. There's nothing against combining the 2 stories into 1 cartridge, then having you pick your choice whenever you start a New Game save. Hopefully that is what they will do when bringing FE14 to outside of Japan. This has worked with games in the past before (Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate) with resounding success, and as for the games that they didn't do this (Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2), that didn't do very well at all. (In fact, since then, I don't think any Dragon Quest title since has escaped Japan's shores, while Monster Hunter continues to do better and better.)

So what I'm trying to say here is...

Inevitably, if they do decide to package the two together, I will buy the game - if they don't, I probably won't, as I would certainly like to try both. What I gather thus far is that Nohr has more of the 'traditional' Fire Emblem units and weapon types, while Hoshido has new classes and weaponry based upon Japanese culture. Had I to choose now I would play through Hoshido first, for a new experience entirely, and get the feel of all of the new features that FE14 has to offer (as opposed to Nohr, in which I would probably only get half of them at once). Of course, after playing one path, I would play through the other, to see how they compare. As for which I would like more in the end...well, I'll just have to wait and see until I experience them for myself.

In the meantime, I will hope that the localisation outside of Japan chooses to do this:

IF I ever pick up another Fir Emblem game it could be one of these two if they see light of day outside Japan, I would probably pick Nohr since it catches my interest.

I'm very interested in both stories. Honestly, I'll probably like Norh's game-play more at this point because of all the classic FE I've been laying lately.

I'd also like to point out the Norh isn't all for "power and glory". They lack natural resources to be able to sustain themselves and are forced to invade other countries like Japan in WW2.

That's a very noteworthy point indeed. I'm looking forward to finding out how the Nohr story pans out as well as the Hoshido story. Both perspectives would give a new understanding of the game plot, and might even be something open for debate later on.

Definite Nohr the first time around. I love the whole world map thing, but I can't resist the nostalgic "chapter-by-chapter" style of the old Fire Emblem games. Plus revolutionizing a country from the inside sounds pretty intriguing.

I'll definitely be getting both versions, though, with multiple playthroughs of each one, and then eventually the 3rd route as well :).

Fire Emblem: White Version and Fire Emblem: Black Version lol

It's a difficult choice for me. I like how in Hoshido, you can train your units and have easier access to materials and the plot seems pretty straightforward (I'm predicting something like "go back to your family> unite your army> end Nohr's tyranny") but Nohr seems to have an interesting plot, siding with those who killed your own father and possibly killing your own family doesn't seem like a good way to make peace. The problem is, I'm not sure if I'm even good enough to play Nohr becaue I'm so used to Awakening's levelling system...

They're selling these as separate cartridges in Japan, right? They say there's also a third route but it's DLC... I hope they would release a bundle version where you can play both Norh and Hoshido and the extra third path. It may cost more but it's better than buying three games.

@[member="Fizzysoda"] If you're worried about playing old-style Fire Emblem, don't be. As someone who only played Awakening I managed to beat Fire Emblem 7 pretty easily and went on to beat Radiant Dawn and I'm pretty deep into Binding Blade, those being two of the more challenging games in the series.

I'm going with the Hoshido game, but my friend will get the Nohr and then we'll trade and play through the others' game. It will be a lot of fun and I love Ryoma because he is sexy lobster lord.
