My mother is a huge spender. She says money is meant to be spent on things that make you happy, and you'll constantly see her Amazon shopping cart full of things she's buying (and sometimes, later even returning). That's not to say she's irresponsible when it comes to saving, but she spends a lot more than I do as a hardcore saver. I only spend when I have to and try to always pack a lunch from home every day since otherwise, costs will add up. Where do you fall on the spectrum? Do you spend a lot, or save a lot? How quickly does money fly out of your wallet? Or are you a mix of both?
I definitely save a lot more than I spend. A majority of what I have saved up is to pay my tuition off when I graduate next year. Once in a blue moon though I'll go out with friends for lunch, or buy something nice for myself.
I can be a tightfisted you-know-what usually, but I'm also trying to help out others that need help with what little I have. Yeah, I'm a walking paradox.
I save my money pretty well, but mainly because I feel like I have to and don't have a reason to spend more than necessary. If I do somehow spend more than I normally would, it would be for someone else.
Ugh, absolutely awful. I do have a compulsive spending problem (brain weird stuff) and I always tell myself "I gotta save my money" but I end up spending it... it's terrible.
I'm in the middle. When I get money I normally think: "Is there anything I want to buy?". If there is then I totally go out to buy it as soon as I can, but if not I just save my money.
I used to be really terrible at it. Whenever I had money, I would go out and buy anything I want and end up depleting my funds to dangerous levels. These days, whenever I see something I want to buy, I always think to myself, "Do I need this? Will this add any value to my life?". That usually stops me from buying almost everything. So I've been able to save quite a lot this year.
I'm somewhere in that middle. My mum is in debt so I'm not a crazy spender. My dad checks 15 stores and then gets each of them to price match each other before he buys stuff. I'll spend on necessities and I'll spend a bit more on stuff I like but if it's something really extra, I gotta ask myself whether I really need it.
Really bad at saving money. I saved a ton of money, and ended up spending it on monopoly which i never played. Whenever i am given money, i almost immediately spend it on ridiculous items, or food.
I find value in the simple things in life. Because of this, I never really have an urge to buy material goods so my money just stacks up over time. I do spend it on eating out primarily because I don't know how to cook for myself and my pallet is very limited. Still though, I'm the kind of person who does save a lot not because I want to save, but because I don't have anything I want to buy.
I'm mildly decent, I guess. Lately, I've been getting better. I used to buy early dinner after every one of my shifts, but lately I prefer to only use my tip money for that. Otherwise, I still spend money on every new game I really want and I've also obligated myself to going to the theater to see every animated film that hits Edmonton theaters. Though I do always manage to save enough to cover my monthly expenses. If I was living by myself, I'd probably be screwed.
I'm sure tables will turn later on in my life, but right now, compared to my peers, I'm excellent at saving money. I only carry about twenty dollars with me if I carry any money at all, and just to make it even harder on myself I'll think that I have to make it last the whole year. So I rarely buy things that I don't have to. The only thing depleting my savings at all is going to the bookstore, haha.
Pretty good I'd say? Issue is that I typically slowly get money towards something I want and never actually have enough money to spend it on random things that catch my eye~ Plus all the things I "save" money for are pretty cheap.
My mom is suchhh a spendaholic too. Any time I have to check for something for her in heir e-mails I see at least 6 diff emails from various online retailers confirming purchases. As for myself, I /try/ to save up and then spend, rather than spend money as soon as I have it. ...That said, I've spent a lot this past month, buying various gifts for people and then a few stuff for myself. Whoops.
I'm utterly terrible at saving money even when I set my mind to it I've developed a mindset that money is meant to be spent so I might as well spend it. Definitely not a good long-term mindset but it makes me feel better about the inevitability of my spending >>;;
Gotta have money in order to spend/save it, haha. Although my natural inclination is to always save a little money, as I'm currently on benefits my savings aren't allowed to exceed a specific amount or I'll have them taken from me...coupled with some rather expensive weekly therapy I've been having - this on top of the video game releases - I'm...not as good at saving as I used to be.
