Can anyone tell me how to beat Blackthorne City Gym? You'd think with a Lv. 59 Typhlosion, you could beat it, but nope! I freakin hate her Gyarados right now!!! Can anyone tell me how to beat it? I've been stuck on it forever!

Here's the dealio. I've never beaten the Blackthorne gym without trading to get something. Sadly, you can't trade anymore, so I don't really know how you can. My level 54 Typhlosion could beat everything except for Kingdra. (I'm assuming Kingdra is causing the problems). I would recommend trying to get your Typhlosion to learn Double Edge or to catch an ice type Pokémon. I hate the Blackthorne gym and it is extemely difficult :(

Typhlosion is really not the ideal Pokémon to use in that gym, yes there's Gyarados but after that one you got dragons and one is even water/dragon. Everything in that gym resist Typhlsion's STAB moves so it would be best to pick another Pokémon if you're not doing a solo run then you need to teach your Typhlsion some more moves so it can take on the dragons and water types in that gym.

I've never really had any issues with that gym myself.

I think I had a lot of ice moves on my team when I fought her. Paralysis moves are also a must have when fighting her, as most of her Pokémon have huge amounts of speed.

I don't think I had issues fighting Clair if I remember right, but I'm usually always over leveled, and have at least one type that is strong against the gym's Pokémon. Like has been said already, since you have Ice Cave right there, go catch an ice type, or teach someone a status move to use against her Pokémon. Using and relying on only Typhlosion won't work.

I can't remember having too much trouble with that Gym at all... The only time I played HG was when I was doing a challenge run though, where most of my team was Psychic type. Since none of her Pokémon resist Psychic, I could pretty much STAB my way through :)

Fire is probably the last type you want to go into Clair's gym with. Catch a decent Electric type, level it up a little bit, and have it take care of the Gyarados. From there, your Typhlosion may be able to take care of the rest of her team. Kingdra would be your biggest obstacle after Gyarados. Brine some Ice types in too (or Ice type moves). You'll notice a difference...
