How did you defeat Lance in HGSS?

I just healed my team up with items before the battle and gave it a go. I came out on top but it was close that first time, ended up a one on one. If I remember correctly my team was Typhlosion, Lanturn, Noctowl, Nidoking, Ampharos and Umbreon. It was a pretty fun battle overall.

 

I battled him..... That's how I won

 

Took me several tries (I lost count) mostly because my team was so unbalanced with Typhlosion, Gyrados, Ampharos, Entei, Raikou, and Lugia...not my best team..kinda disappointed in it. I managed to take out 5 of his team with just Dragonite left, but lost all mine but Gyrados (who did most of the work) in red and my full hp Ampharos. Gyrados went down after getting and giving a hit, and I thought I was done when he Ampharos got hit with a crit. But Ampharos' static came through and he lived with 20 hp to spare, I healed him up and Dragonite couldn't move several turns in a row. It took forever but I came through and now static is one of my favorite electric abilities, cuz it saved my but

 

I've only beat it once legitimately on a HG nuzlocke. I was sweating. 8P

Team was Feraligatr LVL 54, Pidgeot LVL 36, Golbat @Exp. Share LVL 38, Ho-Oh LVL 45, Arcanine LVL 42 @Quick Claw (and he was amazing with that, I swear) and Poliwrath LVL 33. Probably Ice Fanged my way through him with Feraligatr.

 

I was planning to grind out levels for my team members until they were all 50, if I remember correctly. But I decided to just oh long johnson it and won, with Typhlosion (in the sixties, I run through the entire games with my starter to have an advantage) Lugia (in the forties) and a bunch of random Pokes in the thirties I pulled out of my boxes. I mostly just used Typhlosion and Lugia, and came through somehow. I didn't even build a team with type advatages. I would say go for it and heal fully between each person.

 

For the first match in my current playthrough, Slowbro just destroyed his entire team. Avalanche was amazing.

For rematches, Ice Beam wrecks.

 

I used the classic elite four and gym leader strategy that makes every Pokémon trainer what to strangle something in the middle of a battle.
I brought about a ton of hyper potions and revives, and just used them over and over again.

 

Because HG/SS was my first Pokémon i had to do at least 6 tries to finish lance i finished him with Ho-Oh

 

My Espeon (special attack favoured nature) destroyed him.

I used Feraligatr to tank (and heaps of revives and hyper potions).

It was a long battle, I got there in the end!

 

Slowbro is a bro. Icebeam wrecks half his team, surf/hydro pump takes on a lot, and ice beam wrecks his dragons.

 

I didn't. I quit HG when I lost my Ho-oh on the Pokewalker. I was to lazy to restart it.

 

I think I just kept Headbutting with my Typhlosion, haha. I don't even remember. xD

 

The first I beat him EASILY, I don't remember how, but I had only three decent Pokémon on my team, the rest was lvl 40 or lower

The second time I had four legends on my team xD

 

I kept Dragon Rushing him with my own Dragonite!

 

Luck I can't remember how I beat him in my imported copy of SS or my second copy of HG, but in my first copy of HG I had to go through the Pokémon League again due to his Aerodactyl (which dealt super effective moves to most my team), and managed to take it down after giving a Charti Berry to my Lapras to reduce its Rock Slide's power. For his rematch team I pretty much own him with my Choice Specs Espeon :V

In both my files of my non-imported SS, I kicked his butt with Skarmory~

 

My Lugia and his Dragonite were the only Pokémon left, Nite almost down. Lugia managed to survive his Thunder attack with 27 HP left and finished him with a Hydro Pump.

Almost the exact same thing happened the first time I beat Red too. XD

 

Um, with a Pichu ^^ First time, all my Pokémon were dead and I only had Pichu left.
I'm even surprised it did a whole bunch of damage and survived tho :/

 

I just bruteforced it with Mega Ampharos.
