At first I was thinking of one specific aspect of waking up, but then I realised I wanted to be a little broader when I made this thread. This thread can encompass all kinds of various sub-questions. Do you use an alarm or something similar to wake up? How long would it actually take you to get out of bed? What is your 'mood' right after you wake up? Do you need to do something else to really get yourself fully alert? Did the Sandman pay you a surprise visit? This has nothing to do with whether or not you are a 'morning person'. It can even be about how you wake up from napping - just so long as it's about the transition from asleep to awake, it's fair play. :::: I've noticed lately I have been feeling groggy right as I wake up and I'm not entirely sure why. Part of me wants to say that it's been because I go to bed slightly later than I usually do, and thus wake up slightly later as well. The grogginess does tends to fade pretty quickly, though, as it always does; after about 30 seconds of being up and out of bed, my energy kicks in and I'm ready to go. The days when I want to go back to sleep, or even to take a nap, are the most dangerous, as I stand to sleep a lot longer than I intend, because lately, the former tends to last no less than a half-hour, and my naps have gone on to 2-3 hours long unless I specifically time them (with a watch timer or alarm). :::: So that's my story. What about all of you? I'm somewhat curious to find out how many of you people drink coffee to wake up, even though I know the number probably isn't that high here.
On school days, I set my alarm extra early so I have time to start firing on all cylinders before actually getting ready and starting my day. I started it this year, and it's working well so far. Maybe you could try that?
I usually set my alarm on the night before I go to work, but then I wake up right before the alarm goes off. On free days, I still wake up early. I was never this way before. I always used to sleep in. My pastry profession has turned me into a morning person.
My mom just yells at me every morning. I usually sleep through alarms... Even then, I'm always tired when getting up but that usually fades pretty quickly. You can't be tired when it comes to marching band camp...
I set an alarm for myself during the school year since my body's usual wake up time is around seven or eight in the morning. I find that I don't wake up in any particular mood. I do have times where I wake up feeling particularly pleasant or particularly awful, but it usually isn't any mood at all. I don't usually do anything to wake myself up (although I probably should), though talking to a friend helps me stay awake.
I have insomnia, so my sleep is usually going to bed at 2-3 in the morning, waking up three hours later, and drifting in wakeful fits of napping and half-dreaming until noon. Surprisingly, I wake up pretty fast if someone else or an alarm wakes me up, with little grogginess and a clear head. I don't know how fast I wake up if I'm left to sleep, because it hasn't happened in years. I will just sleep and sleep forever, apparently. As long as it's during the day. I cannot nap. I don't know why, but I cannot fall asleep if it's not at 2-3 AM. No matter how early I go to bed, the times remain the same. #MissingNo
When I set alarms, I have to get up right then and there. Work's at 4 in the morning and the commute plus the shuttle into the actual workplace takes at least an hour and fifteen minutes. If I'm not out the door by 20, then I'm screwed and my employer does not take kindly to being late. I would try and go to bed early, but I find it hard for me to go sleep in broad daylight.
I wake up with an alarm and am out of bed in that minute and I start getting ready. I don't really have an emotion at this time other than "sleepy". I gradually mentally wake up as I go through my morning routine and my morning walk to work.
I go to bed at a normal time compared to other people here, and with no alarm unless it's for school, and it really depends on what happened the night before for me. Sometimes I'm still tired when I wake up (usually during school or work), and it most of the time takes a shower to wake up fully, unless I don't have anything to do for the morning.
I wake up on a bed... Mostly. Usually my internal alarm will wake me up at which point I can either be straight up or lie in for another 10-30 minutes just listening to my music which I play when I'm trying to sleep. Utter silence means my thoughts wander which is bad for me
I don't have alarms, so I just sleep until I wake up. Usually this is after 12pm lmao. Sometimes I tell myself that I'll just lie down for another 5 minutes then get up... this works terribly.
I wake up to my phone's alarm sadly, I used to not need it and could just use my internal clock but ever since my cat got diagnosed with diabetes I have to wake up the same time every day no matter what.
With all this talk of waking up, I didn't even think to talk about alarms, as a lot of people do use them. The only time I use an alarm or timer of any kind is if I need to wake myself up from a nap at a specific time. Beyond that, I don't use them, as my body is usually sturdy enough to wake up on its own without needing to be alerted to what time it is. My internal clock is fairly rigid in that regard, though that's probably also why I don't take naps, as I do fine without them and my body interprets naps as proper heavy sleep - which has gotten me in trouble a few times.
I don't usually use an alarm because my internal body clock is pretty reliable, but if I need to wake up extra early then I have to set an alarm. How I feel when I wake up depends a large amount on how much sleep I got and the current season. I find I get a better start to the day if I begin moving as soon as I wake up. That means getting out of bed and doing stuff within a few minutes of being awake.
I naturally wake up around 7-9 am, however recently my dad has been coming in/calling me at 5-6 am, which is brutal for me. I have some insomnia (probably caused by computer use in bed) and usually sleep at 11:.30 pm, 12-1 is late for me. I do have a alarm, however it seems whenever I set it up, the power goes out and it loses the settings. Also I've been getting up earlier than my alarm times so it's become useless, sadly. I usually wake up kinda sore and stiff, bed is old and not really..wide enough for me and how I toss in my sleep. Depending on dreams, I sometimes wake up meh, depressed, happy, or just well rested. I've started a trend where I take my phone, get my daily on Pokémon Shuffle, check Facebook, and then start youtube while I start my day to get me up. Also sometimes I have this play in my head when I'm happy/well-rested
I'm starting to get a live alarm clock. I have 2 pugs so if I'm not up and they want me up no matter what time it is (I kid you not. Even if it's 2 AM this happens) they come and attack my head.
I wish I could get more DIU tracks stuck in my head like that. I definitely would not complain about earworms like those.
I take 3 naps in a day. Each of them are 2 hours long. The alarm I have set on my phone is a custom pattern and I made it like a snaredrum so it sounds like there's an earthquake as my phone vibrates across my dresser.
I use an alarm clock for school, my internal clock usually wakes me up around six thirty to seven but I have to wake up at 5:45 to catch my bus. As for dealing with grogginess, I just get out of bed as fast as I can or else I'll regret it later when I'm running to the bus. Sometimes I feel nauseous from waking up so early, but nausea is better than sleepiness if you're trying to catch a bus. Sometimes.
