Since the invention of the typewriter and beyond, being able to type fast can easily be seen as an important skill to learn, so how fast can you type? Here's a link that you could use to find out if you don't know: https://www.livechatinc.com/typing-speed-test/#/ My current record is about 50 WPM (Words Per Minute) or about 202 CPM (Characters per minute)
I just did the test four times and got four results: -75 -92 -101 -121 The first one was my regular typing speed and the other ones I was going at a high speed to see how fast I could truly go.
My first run-through was 58 WPM (275 CPM), with an accuracy of 98%. I used to be around 70, though, so... :\
1st try: 44 WPM, 194 CPM, and 95% accuracy. 2nd try: 39 WPM, 177 CPM, and 92% accuracy. 3rd try: 44 WPM, 193 CPM, and 95% accuracy. Simply stated: I’m a slow typer. Mostly because I type with only my index fingers, which probably isn’t a good habit.
Let me try this test three times just to find an average (cause I'm a math whiz, not a computer nerd). 1st: 44 WPM; 193 CPM 88% Accuracy. 2nd: 46 WPM 196 CPM 95% Accuracy. 3rd: 46 WPM 202 CPM 96% Accuracy. So, I type slow, I have a horrible accuracy, and I can't type worth tailbone. Go figures, even as a storywriter.
1st: 52 WPM / 234 CPM / Accuracy: 89%. 2nd: 65 WPM / 279 CPM / Accuracy: 95%. 3rd: 63 WPM / 282 CPM / Accuracy: 95% If i didn't hesitate my score would probably be higher. oh well. We'll call my first attempt a warm up as well lmao Spoiler: This might be my limit tbh
I hit 51 WPM (225 CPM) with 100 accuracy. I find that test especially hard with my dyslexia, usually when I already know the words in my head, I'm faster.
First time I tried, I hit 52 WPM (223 CPM) with 96% accuracy. I couldn't help but fix some of my mistakes due to OCD.
I took it twice, and was an octopus both times. 77 words, 353 characters, 91% accurate. 80 words, 342 characters, 94% accurate. I type properly with my left hand, but my right hand I use only my index finger plus spacebar right thumb only, so I'm moving my right hand a lot. I blame PC games where my left hand stays steady on WASD and my right hand moves the mouse all over the place. It's not a good habit, but it's also not a bad habit unless you have a job of typing. Index finger typing does slow you a bit (since there's more travel distance for just one finger instead of 3-4 splitting it), but you might also be putting strain on your wrist or even other joints up your arm. Unless it's part of your job, I recommend you just do what feels best for you! That 100% accuracy though. And there is certainly a psychological brain-processing difference between typing the random abstract words you're told and the words generated by what your brain wants to say. I won't be surprised if your actual typing speed is quite a bit faster than the test indicated.
I tried once and I got 42 WPM and 190 CPM with a 100% accuracy but i was really struggling to get it that way.
88 WPM, although I think I could have been a teensy bit faster if I wasn't so obsessed with getting 100% accuracy and didn't panic towards the end trying to squeeze in as many extra words as I could. My typing is kinda weird as I often use two fingers, but I can touch-type using both hands when I'm not really thinking about it...it's when I stop and realise what I'm doing that I switch back to two fingers because I lose my co-ordination. xD
I'm not doing the test, I hate typing on an iPad, where I only get around 58wpm. On pc, though, I type even faster than our technology teacher, even in the same year we had his class. He typed at an average of 70wpm, while I had a whopping 80wpm on the first day we tested it. At the end of the year my typing speed average was 88wpm, with an 96% average accuracy rate.
I did a test and got 40 words per minute (177 CPM) with 100% accuracy. Not particularly surprised about the results. My speed has never been very fast due to having clinodactyly on both of my pinky fingers. At least my accuracy is good.
