Starter Pokémon are always special because they're, well, starters! They're the first partner you get when you start a new game, so they're pretty darn important in the beginning! So, how long do you keep your starter on your team? The main game? Past the main game? Switch it out almost immediately for something else? (Boooo :U) I personally try and keep all my starters up until the completion of the main story. I have more fun that way, and I'll admit I get pretty attached to them by the time I enter that Hall of Fame...
My starter is a permanent part of my main team, I like to play the whole game with it! After the main story, there are times when I switch it out for something else, but I always end up using it again in the future.
I pretty much use it for all story gameplay but afterwords it usually gets shafted Rarely are they good for the Battle Frontier but when they are I'll use "em
I never deposit my starter, unless I'm doing some kind of challenge that forces me to do so (e.g. Nuzlocke, monotype challenge, etc). Most starters are pretty good battlers, and I usually grow too attached to them to swap them for a stronger mon.
It depends on how the game goes. I usually keep the starter on my team for the entirety of the main game, then I make my casual team sort of its own separate thing that I swap back and fourth to while training competitive Pokémon. A few times I have swapped it out earlier on for something else. During my first playthrough of Emerald, I swapped my Grovyle for Breloom at some point and in a more recent playthrough of White 2, I swapped my Emboar out for Arcanine, since I was trying to make a team solely of my favorites. I'm about to start a new playthrough of Y in which I don't use my starter at all pretty much. I have my team all planned out already.
I only ever get rid of my starter before the end of the main story if I am stuck with a Pikachu that can't evolve. Otherwise I keep it through then, usually until it reaches level 100.
I keep my starter on my team for the entire main story and through the post-game, then I normally take my team that I finished the game with the first time, get it to level 100, and then make a separate, competitive team. That usually has a competitively viable version of my starter on it.
I usually keep my starter until the end of the main story, unless I'm doing a nuzlocke or something like that.
I keep my starter on my team until after I beat the story. After that, all the members of my team get rotated in and out with members of previous teams.
I usually keep my starter on my team through the whole game, though I will switch them out to train new 'mons during a training session (but only for those).
Like most people, I tend to keep my starter with me throughout the entire game. I feel like it's sort of a given... because they're the first Pokémon you're given. Plus, most of the time, they're super cute and decent Pokémon overall.
Probably forever. The starters I didn't even care for tend to grow on me. Sun and Moon actually made me feel for my starter and I didn't even care for them in the first place.
The entire game, really. Starters are supposed to be my first Pokémon, they always hold a very special place in my heart. How cruel could one be to never use them?!
I will keep my starter the whole game, like many people before have mentioned. I'm a casual gamer and don't mess around too much with the competitive aspect. However, I do occasionally swap my regular starter for a new Pokémon, and make it my starter. In these cases I generally start with a whole team of preselected Pokémon. This lets me use a larger variety of Pokémon than I might have in a normal playthrough.
I keep my starter Pokémon for most of the game. It takes me time to get any Pokémon that I've caught to the level where I can tell whether they're strong battlers or not. The starter Pokémon may not be the strongest, but they're pretty decent, so I consistently keep them until/unless I find Pokémon that I want on my party more than the starter.
Does anybody ever just go "meh, I'd rather have Quagsire than Feraligatr"? I was hoping to see someone have ice in their veins. I usually keep my starter around with me the whole time, but I've gotten lax with it over the years. For instance, in Sapphire, the only time my Blaziken ever left my party (to this very day) was for a short stint in the daycare for breeding. If I plug in my Sapphire right now, I bet anything Blaziken's still there in my active party. Moving forward in time to Ultra Sun, I actually rotated Decidueye out a few times, with Tsareena being my planned replacement Grass. Even though I'm getting more lax, I intend to always have my starter with me in the E4. Always.
I keep my starter for the duration of the main story and usually even afterwards. Only time I will remove it from my party permanently is when he/she reaches level 100
