A question for all you other artists out there...

It always really bothers me how much time I can take on one piece, so I was wondering if I wasn't alone. What's the estimated time it takes you to finish a piece of art? Chibi or fullbody or another? Background detailed or none at all? Let me know!

A fullbody can take me 1-4 hours depending on the intensity and a chibi 45 minutes- 2 hours. It can be elapsed of I have to add a BG.

Well since I've shown my 'art', I guess I can answer this.

The few things that (for me) look decent, toke a couple of hours.... To make an piece of art that is actually worth mentioning would probably, beside the training I would need, take me an entire day xD

simple things like just one Pokémon could take me 30 mins-1 hour maybe and stuff with a complex background usually take a lot longer but I don't really time my self so I'm not sure how long it actually takes.

It depends really sketches are easy for me to draw so it would probably take me an hour or less but when it comes to texture and coloring it takes a few hours to get it done. I normally do full body or half body or Manga style so I would say roughly around 4 to 5 hours if I do it straight and not distracted?

I'm a perfectionist. I'd say 70% of the art I make I end up scrapping because it's not to my liking even after I sit around for hours editing it. So it takes me around 1-3 hours depending on what I'm drawing, possibly more if I'm constantly reworking things!

my sketches are usually over within 30 minutes. it's not what I spent most time on but depending on what I do it can take an hour - 8 hours perhaps.

    1. Sketching takes around 15min to 1hr, depending on the quantity of of the things I need to sketch.
    2. Tracing in Photoshop takes the longest of my time. I guess it depends if I can trace the lines properly.
    3. Coloring and shading is more relaxing for me, so my pace is slow, but it doesn't take as long as #2.
    4. Adding the background is easy. 30min at most if it's not complicated.

I think one drawing takes me somewhere between 0.5 and 2 hours, depending on how concentrated I can work on it. I easily get distracted, so that's why it can take a long time sometimes xD

When I do the occasional watercolor painting it takes much longer because, of course it needs to dry, and also because you can mess watercolor up really easy so I want to be really careful to get the colors and lighting and everything to work together well. The extra time doesn't stop me from messing up anyway though XD

Small, bad sketches usually take me 5-10 minutes.

If I work hard on it, and outline it in pen, it can take me an hour or longer.

It depends solely on what I'm drawing. If it's a picture of something I've drawn before or a lot, then a sketch may take around 30 minutes to an hour, discounting breaks in between doing things. My mind tends to wander often (especially when listening to music), so if I counted each time I've taken a break or gotten distracted while working on a single doodle, one picture has the potential of taking me an entire day or more. Off the top of my head, the longest I've taken on any picture was multiple days for just the sketch by itself.

Depends on my motivation. A sketch of a drawing will take me about 10 - 30 minutes, but the actual digital drawing takes at least two hour (mainly the tracing of lines). However, this is generally cumulatively as I often do the drawings in small bursts.

That ranges from like 5 minutes on a purposely-crappy sketch to many, many hours... I think I probably put in six or eight hours (likely even more than that) of work on one of my most time-consuming pieces? But I often don't finish things anyway, so I can't give an average.

A single shaded character with a decorative background (but not a scene) takes about half an hour. For example, the Jirachi pic in my avatar took 33 minutes.

It depends on the drawing, really.
Something very quick and messy might take 30 mins - 1 hour

But if it's a drawing I actually want to put effort into, it usually takes at least 4 hours, if not more.

Since I'm pretty bad at art, maybe 30 minutes if I try to actually do something semi-what fancy. Anyways, nothing I do comes out at all, so oh well.
