With the somewhat recent generation 6, there was a total of 69 new Pokémon, the lowest yet (exlcuding mega evolutions). How many Pokémon do you think will be in the next generation and why? I really want to hope for some basic cross generational evolutions and not simply another bombardment of mega evolutions, so I'm going to hope for at least 90+ new Pokémon for the next Generation.

I would say that there will at least be 80-90 in this new generation to make up for the lack of Pokémon added the previous generation. If Pokémon is going to continue further, they definitely will need a bigger lineup than the pathetically small one they gave us for Gen. VI

Personally, I would be happy with 75 more Pokémon. We already have so many Pokémon out there, but I definitely agree we should have some more. I would be extremely happy with cross-generation evolution since some of them have become my favorite Pokémon by far. A lot of older Pokémon that don't have evolutions aren't too powerful, so by giving them an evolution, it could help bring some underrated Pokémon, and make them better than before.

I think 75-90 would be a good number. Gen VI was kinda disappointing that not many new Pokémon were introduced, even with mega evolutions. So I'm hoping the next gen will have more new ones, and perhaps fewer mega evolutions, if any.

Don't know why, but the number 93 popped into my head, so yeah, around that many lol.

I kinda hope the next one will be like generation IV in the sense that there will be new Pokémon, but also older Pokémon given new evolutions.

The range is really quite big on what Gamefreak could do for this next generation of Pokémon. I could see them doing something similar to Generation 6 and only adding a handful of Pokémon.

Or, I could see them being like any other generation and adding at least 100 new Pokémon. We never can really tell what Gamefreak is doing, but I guess we just go with the flow in this case.

    Anything 75 and above!
I din't mind the low number of Pokémon, simply because the generation was more focused on other things, plus they had to completely rework the entire game, due to the new 3D models for Pokémon and players. Though I would like to see them add a few more Pokémon in the next generation.

Let's say 70 new Pokémon, and 20 cross-generational evolutions. Seems like a nice balance to me, especially since gen VI didn't have any cross-gens at all (Sylveon excluded). Generation IV did the same thing, giving us an insane amount of cross-gens to make up for Gen III's lack of them :)

Regardless of what they do, I'm already excited for it!

I just hope they release at least a bit more than Generation 6. The number of new Pokémon released last gen was pretty disappointing to me... I got over it for the most part, but I still hope that they don't keep releasing so few for the generation. The amount of Mega Evolutions doesn't make it up to me, either, but that's just me... I love seeing lots of new species, Mega Evolutions don't fill that desire in my heart, even if I do think some of them are pretty awesome. It's just not the same.

I'll be happy if the next generation takes the total number past 800 :)

Since we had a shortage in this current generation, a minimum of 150 new Pokémon would be nice for the next generation.

I hope we get between 120 and 150 new Pokémon for the next generation. I love most of Gen 6's Pokémon, but there were just way too few of them, and most of them were revealed before the games came out. I like the mystery of going into the grass in a new game and not knowing what I'll find. Hopefully that will happen with the next Gen!
