Whether it is how long your stories are, how often you write for them, or how far you actually make it into the story before dropping it.

I personally usually make it a max of 12 of twelve chapters in before dropping the story. I write when I have ideas and feel like doing something with those ideas. For how long, it is the same as when I drop them. So I don't write a lot, in any meaning of the word. I don't try to write that little, i just struggle after a while.

It depends. Sometimes I prefer to keep it simple with something like a two thousand wort shortfic, and other times I sit down and churn out an eighty thousand word adventure. It's rare that anything is ever seen by anyone other than me, though.

I don't think I've written a fanfiction that made it past four chapters before, haha. Most of my story drabbles seem to go without an ending, actually. Yikes, I'm worse than broadcasters who cancel tv shows!

I think with Delta Effect I started off with five chapters done, the first three of which were dropped in three sequential days. That buffer space of two chapters dwindled to no buffer within a month or two of weekly posts.

I've posted two other dry-runs of maybe-series and am working on a third. When I decide which if any I want, I'm going to write up an entire "story arc" before I drop anything into the public. Set the scene, identify a significant conflict, address that significant conflict. I really don't think I can state an exact chapter count, though, it will just be whenever that first arc is complete.

I've said this before about working on The Veil. It's very sporadic. Write honestly I'm surprised I haven't dropped it yet. With each passing passage though I've noticed I'm finding it more difficult to find motivation for it. I'd like to finish it before I move, but that might not be the case.

Before Cactuses, the only non-one-shot story I wrote got dropped at 6 chapters of 2-6K words each. Cactuses now is at its 17th chapter (which yes I am actually writing), and I have no idea why I keep feeling motivated to write this one. Maybe it's because I only take it semi-seriously and I pretty much just write whatever comes to mind. It's a lot less stressful than trying to keep to rigid guidelines that eventually only strangle my drive to write.

Aside from that, most of my one-shots are in the 1-5K range. All of those I ended up typing in one sitting, and when I write a chapter of Cactuses I usually do that in one sitting too. I just keep going until I think the idea is run out, then I get up and do something else, come back and edit it, then send it out to the world.

I write on fanfiction. If i write a oneshot it does not exeed 1500 words, its short but i write this much only but when i write a chapter based stories, there is no word limit for me. So, every time my no of words differ.

I write when i get some inspiration or it feels like i should write but without inspiration or any idea i dont write. I am good in poetry more than simple stories, so i write more poems than stories. But i do write stories also..

When I did write often enough, I wrote between 12 to 30 chapters before I'd take a break or move on. If I put more effort into it know I'd probably never stop until the job was done. To be honest I'm thinking of doing a fic to see how well I'll do.

That kinda depends on the story, but when judging the four(!) story attempts I've had, the average lies somewhere around 15 chapters. The thing that usually kills a story idea for me is the fact that my brain keeps making up stuff that can't be included yet because it should happen a few chapters after the one I'm currently writing at that point. Having ideas like that is nice, but you first have to fill in those remaining chapters before you can use your great idea. Welp.

I've never completed anything, but I'm currently writing a fic which is now at 73k words, which is longer than anything I've ever written, and I'm still motivated to keep going, so that's a plus!

Well, i dont write much. Whenever i write i will make sure that it has to be 3 to 4 pages at least. I think that writing less than this will disappoints readers cause i myself dont read short stories much as compared to long but that is only my point of view. Opinion can differ.

I try to make everything I write (and read) over 1000 words. If it's less than that, it'll probably never see the light of day. Most of the time I start writing stuff, get a good chunk in, then either drop it or get sucked in to something else. And since I really only write during class, I end up doing like a paragraph in an hour lecture...

    I like having an even number at 5. like 15, 20, 25, 30 chapters in a story.
