In Sun and Moon there was only one Lucky Egg you could get, however in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon this isn't the case! In case you don't know already, the Lucky Egg is a held item that boosts exp gain by 1.5x. So if you get 5000 exp from a battle, a Pokémon holding a Lucky Egg would get 7500 exp instead. This is very useful to save time grinding levels, especially if you're doing a nuzlocke of sorts.

So how do you get them in USUM?

Firstly, you're going to have to beat the main game. The only way to get a lucky egg before that is to have a Pokémon holding one via trade.

Once you've beaten the main game, go to Professor Kukui in his lab and he will give you one.

To get additional/unlimited Lucky Eggs, you're going to need to prepare a team!

Why do that you ask? Well here is how we are going to get those eggs.

Located in the Poni Plains are a Pokémon called Blissey. It is the only Pokémon in the game that you can encounter in the wild that holds a Lucky Egg. The percentage is low(5%), but using this method will help speed things up. By using Thief + SOS chaining, you can farm lucky eggs by stealing them from the Blisseys.

    Here is what you need

    • Adrenaline Orbs
      • Can be purchased for $300 in any Pokémon Center. Talk to the shop clerk on the left and scroll to the bottom of the list.
    • A Pokémon that can use False Swipe and [optional] the ability (Intimidate, Pressure, or Unnerve). False Swipe helps with SOS chaining. Intimidate, Pressure, and Unnverve increase the call rate in SOS chains. (I'd recommend Mawile, Haxorus, or Bisharp for this role).
      • Kukui gives you TM False Swipe early in the game as part of the playthrough.
    • A Pokémon that has the ability Compound Eyes and the move Thief (A high level Butterfree, Dustox, Galvantula, or Vivillion would be best). Compound Eyes increases the odds of a Pokémon holding an item (instead of the Lucky Egg being at 5% it has a 20% chance!).
    • To maximize this method, make your party consist of 1 false swipe Pokémon and 5 of any of the above thief users. Make sure none are holding any items. If the Pokémon are holding items this method does not work as the item can't be stolen.
Now that you have your team set, you're ready to hunt Blissey! But there is a catch. They only appear via SOS battles so you'll need to find a Chansey.

Chansey can be encountered in the shaking trees of the Poni Plains, located on Poni Island. They have a 20% chance of being encountered. Exit or change routes to reset the tree shaking to save time if they don't appear. Chansey can SOS call Blissey. Note that Healing Wish DOES NOT self KO Chansey and Blissey, as it will fail upon usage.

This is what to expect from Chansey.

Once you encounter a Blissey, this is what you're up against.

What you'll want to do is use your False Swipe Pokémon to start off the chain. Use an adrenaline orb ASAP as well!

Once Chansey is at a low hp, switch to one of your Thief Pokémon and continue to KO the ally Pokémon Chansey calls until Blissey appears. Once Blissey appears use Thief first. If there is no Lucky Egg, keep repeating the process until you get one. Remember to switch up your chain every now and then (They both start using struggle after 60 turns).

The chain will take up a long time, but if done successfully you can get 5 lucky eggs from just one SOS chain per battle! If you want to mix things up, you can also bring along a Pokémon that can inflict a status move to stop the chain and catch a Shiny Chansey or Blissey, as that can happen with SOS chains.

Good luck and happy Egg Hunting!

Interesting tactic. Another thing you can do is have a Frisk Trevenant with Thief. This way, you can avoid damage from the Egg Bombs (even though Chansey and Blissey have shit offense) Then again, they can spam Heal Pulse to avoid you having to waste berries and potions.

You just have to hope it doesn't Fling it away :P
