As you guys know, HTTYD3 has been confirmed and is probably going to be the last movie in this part of the story (I'm predicting that they are going to have another movie). I personally can't wait for this movie, so what are your thoughts?
Oh, look the obligatory love interest... I love that Hiccup wear's knight armor. It looks awesome while he's on top Toothless.
I can't wait to see it. I love that they brought up the fact that Hiccup can't really hold his own in a fight without Toothless. But does Toothless really need a girlfriend? I am afraid it might detract from his character in the movie.
I know that there are love interests in this movie, but unlike my sister, I'm not the least bit concerned. It's completely natural for a fully grown dragon like Toothless to look for a potential mate. And I trust Dreamworks. They're not Disney. Dreamworks doesn't make movies that focus on lovey dovey romance. If their is a romantic relationship in one of their movies, it's never the main focus. I've heard that this last movie is going to go back to following the books a little more, and even just from watching the trailer I can see that. I'm curious to know just how much they're going to follow the books.
I don't really see a problem with a love interest. Astrid has been around since the first movie and is fine as a character, it was mentioned in the second movie that they were looking for other Night Furies, so of course this was going to happen. It was leading up to this and I'm not at all disappointed with this. Also the pun with "White Night Fury" (Sounds like white knight) is just great. My only issue with love interests is when it becomes the main focus of the story and the female love interest just ends up sort of being "there" without all that much to contribute. (I'm looking at you, Brother Bear 2.) As long as she ends up having a cool personality, doing cool stuff because SHE'S A DRAGON, and sharing at least some personality traits with Toothless to show off a typical Night Fury disposition, I think this will be fine. Focusing on the REST of the story that we see so far though, the thought of someone going around trying to kill off the Night Furies as a species is just awesome. Now that's some conflict! And it's pretty on par with what was in the previous two movies so I think there's a lot of potential here.
I'm super excited for this movie, and I'm assuming it'll be the last one as it says this is the conclusion, and I've heard that the director doesn't plan on making any more after this. I, too, see no problem with Toothless being paired with Lady Light Fury, and judging on the trailer she won't be some damsel in distress. The graphics look stunning, the story maintains that light heartedness while also being mature, and overall this is really looking like it's gonna be better than the other two, which were amazing. I'm hyped!
