How were you introduced to Pokemon?

For me, I was around 3 or 4 years old at the time, meaning it was around 1998 or 1999, and I had seen the Pokémon anime on t.v. One thing led to another, and I eventually got Pokémon Yellow, though I was more engrossed in the anime at this time. Once I got Ruby version, however, my focus shifted enormously towards the games.

 

I discovered the anime first, the Johto arcs if I recall correctly. That lead my parents to buying me Ruby, and they've regretted it ever since, I think. XD

 

I've seen Pokémon for as long as I can remember; I saw it in magazines, and my parents bought me little Pokémon toys every now and then. I started collecting Pokémon cards, watched the Pokémon movie on TV, and didn't find out about the games until way too late But I never could play Pokémon until I was about 11 years old because I never had a game console before then.

 

It is on my profile xD. I will put the short version liked Pokémon on the TV, but it was like any other program that I liked, bu all of this changed... My mum won a contest from Nintendo in the ONLY convention that Nintendo did in my country, the prize was a Game Boy Color with Pokémon Yellow as game. The rest is history and my love for Pokémon started to grow even more with Pokémon 2000 and the Anime

 

I was actually 3 years old (1997) and I saw my mom playing Pokémon Red. When she wasn't looking, I snatched the Game Boy and Pokémon Red to see what it is and enjoyed it; plus, I asked my mom (by showing a picture) for Pokémon Blue. I started watching the anime when I was 5 years old learned my first word, Pika ^^; and I've been with Pokémon ever since

 

A couple of classmates found out that you could download emulators on our school computers, and the only game we knew to play on them was Pokémon LeafGreen. So, from that point on, we would all be sitting at our computers playing Pokémon That was the first time I ever played a real Pokémon game, and that was like three or four years ago...

 

The time: Fall/Winter 98
The place: My house

I had just gotten my new issue of Disney Adventures (RIP) in the mail, and the ad on the last page intrigued me--a bunch of creatures about to be caught in a giant net. One of those creatures stood out to me--a little yellow mouse with a thunderbolt shaped tail. I keep the little guy in mind as I put the finished magazine with all my back issues.

The next day at school, I asked my best friend at the time just what this "Pokémon" thing was that was taking the school by storm. He showed me a figure of the mouse creature, and told me its name was "Pikachu".

Later that day, I saw the bus commercial on TV, and that was it. I got Blue that weekend, and the rest is history!

 

On Kids WB, they were debuting the first episode of Pokémon. Got hooked on it ever since to the point that I got Red version

 

I got into Pokémon through the anime actually. I saw it on TV while watching Digimon and I've fallen in love with it. It was until then I picked up on the video game right after I saw the first commercial of Yellow.

 

I recall hearing about the game in school or something when I was little. I must've been pestering my parents about it or something, because one day I received a Gameboy Advance SP and a copy of Fire Red as a gitf! Did I care to nickname it? No.

 

For me I believe it was just my older sister being into Pokémon, and I really looked up to her (and started over her Yellow version without asking cough). She passed down her games to me when she was done with them, and I also was given some Pokémon cards around that time, too, which were just the cutest things and got me really intrigued. It also helped that some of my friends were very much into Pokémon too, so we could play the games together, show off our cards, talk about the show/movies, etc. which kept me interested in my early years.

 

I just remember watching my older brother watching the anime on tv one morning.. I think it was a repeat of the very first episode of the Kanto region, actually...

I have loved it ever since.

 

I used to go to a summer camp.

A few of the the older guys would bring their DSs and games, they had PMD if I remember correctly. There were also a boy and a girl who had one of the Kanto guidebooks that they let me flip through by the pool one day.

 

​I received Pokémon Blue during the early 2000s along with a Gameboy Colour. I think I was one of those types of people back in the day that didn't know if it was a big deal or not in my area, so I kept it a secret. I also remembered watching the anime too, but recently have stopped. Been a few years since I've watched it again.

 

If I remember right I was 8 or 9 years old and introduced to it because everyone at school at the time played/watched it so not being a fan of Pokémon would make you the odd one out, hah. Don't quite remember if I started with the anime or games but most likely the anime before branching out and convincing parents to get me Red and Blue. Ahh memories. <3

It's very vague, but I'm fairly certain it started with the Annuals. I bought a load of old books from a friend of mine, and the 2007 Pokémon Annual just happened to be in there. After that, I slowly became more and more interested, watching the anime then finally getting my first game: Platinum!

 

4 years ago, I went to my friends house and played Pokémon Stadium. I instantly fell in love and played Pokémon Stadium with him a lot and played it until I bought Pokémon Heartgold.
