I miss looking through the trash.

I miss searching through it too. In most of the games, constant searching would eventually reap some kind of reward, be it big or small.

I'm genuinely clueless as to why they decided not to put anything in the trash. Maybe they're gearing us up for Gen 7, where items are abundant in the trash? XD

 

I guess it's just the RPG instinct to search everywhere. I do miss trash items, even just if they were Pokeballs or stuff. People are wasteful, and people through away useable things, so why not be able to find Potions and stuff in the trash...

 

What their aren't items in trash cans anymore?

I've seriously been searching for weeks to find a trash can with something in it. My whole life has been ruined.

 

I thought Rotom was in a trash can

 

I'm disappointed too. They would have to change it back for a remake of fire red right? We need out vomit covered Cut HM!

 

I always search the cans, at least a little bit. It may be a way to save space and time in the game. It's still a sad thing though

 

I still find myself searching trash cans, even if I know there isn't anything in them. The older games have trained me in that mindset, and I think it's a shame they've emptied the trash cans.

My reaction when I saw this in-game:

 

I noticed this and I always cry with every empty can, which I still look in to this day with ORAS. Why Nintendo?! You even started giving us badges for it in Gen V, and now nothing?!

 

Lol um i don't miss it at all, more like neutral feelings towards it.

 

Maybe they just got better at emptying the trash cans rather than letting it sit around until some 10-year old kid went looking through them.

I do kinda miss it though. There's something rewarding about sifting through trash and finding a Hyper Potion or the like.

 

A rotom or trubbish just isn't the same as that great ball on the St. Anne. Yeah I miss the items

 

Oh god I still sometimes dig through the trash in sixth generation games and always get a little upset when there isn't anything in there. Truthfully I didn't even know they no longer put items in them... guess that's a habit I'll have to force myself to drop. :'( Not sure why they would've removed this - it was a fun reason for me to explore all the buildings/rooms further, wah.

 

That professional Trashcan-emptier NPC in the game destroyed my dreams. I think this was Nintento's sign of saying that trashcan diving wasn't not going to happen anymore. I was honestly disappointed that there were no longer any items in trash cans when they could have done thing like put thrown out megastones in it.
It is so darn hard to break the habit of checking trashcans, but honestly it was a nice little surprise to find items like in the original games where you would find a Pokéball in the trashcans of the SS Anne.

 

Okay I just got an idea after reading this post; what if you could find trubbish with pick up or even just holding rare items in the trash cans? I think Trubbish's hidden ability should have been pick up or some other ability that does basically the same thing but has a different name.

 

A ten year old kid looking through the trash, desperately searching for something to use on his journey... That's a bit unsettling xD But yeah, it's a sad thing that all the trash cans are empty now. Looking for hidden items was always one of my favorite things about any Pokémon game, because I always forget that I can also just go to Pokémon Marts xD I always just live off whatever I find on the ground, and searching for hidden items was a bit part of that. I hope they'll bring back the hunt for secret items, because I always really enjoyed it!

 

I really miss it. My favorite thing to find in trash cans was Leftovers, because it made so much sense.

 

I really miss looking in the trash bins for items. It was really fun to do in the older generations, but it was a small part of the game. I'm not entirely sure why they removed it, but it's still missed.
