I am gone. Yes, gone. My era has long since passed, and I am now a mere shred of memory.

Oh, how pleasant it would be if I remained a memory,

    But I was forgotten.

Subdued watercolors, now replaced by bright, sharp colors.

Gone are the rough pixels, replaced by high quality lines.

    Desirable. Unachieveable.

    For me.

For I have turned to dust.

Gone are the simple buildings and homes, replaced by modern, complicated architectural structures.

Gone is the New Bark Town I knew.

    Gone, am I.

I am now a simple gust of wind, roaming the skies and driving the clouds.

When the windmills of New Bark Town spin, I am there, riding their blades.

Whether you are the boy with the golden cap, or perhaps you're the girl with the puffy white hat,

When you feel a gust of wind, it is I who strokes your cheeks.

Or maybe you're the boy with the flaming red hair,-

(-who I met so long ago, oh, don't mind me,)

It is I who flicks your hair up (and into your face).

Are you wondering where the last Pokéball went?

Yes, it was I who took it along.

Totodile and I are happily roaming the world of dreams,

A realm that you might never see,

Until you are simply the wind, like me.

Rest assured, when you arrive, the one who will welcome you is

    I, The Wind.

    "I, Kris."

    Oh, Kris, where art thou?

Seriously, why did they replace her with Lyra? I can't think of one good reason.

I like the fragmentedness, almost like it's showing a breaking perception of self that's been corroding for that 10 or so year gap. You exercised the fragmentedness in a way that made constant rhythm unnecessary although that too you included enough to be of good effect, like a remaining wholeness of thoughts.

I've tried to write with a lack of concrete meter like this, but I've never felt it turned out right. Kudos to you for managing to do it so well.
