The title says it all. I would like to hear your responses on your course of action if you have the power to rename, introduce or remove the types in Pokémon.

I'd introduce a sound type. There are so many Pokémon/moves based off sound like Exploud and Noivern. I think it has a cool sound and could possibly be effective against dark types, and weak to water types (since you can't really hear things underwater).

Rename Fairy type to Magic type.
Introduce the Light, Sound, and Cosmic types (but probably later down the road)

    Examples of Light Pokémon:

    Ampharos (Electric/Light)
    Sunflora (Grass/Light)
    Florges (Magic/Light)

    Examples of Sound Pokémon:

    Exploud (Normal/Sound)
    Chimecho (Psychic/Sound
    Noivern (Flying/Sound)

    Examples of Cosmic Pokémon:

    Solrock and Lunatone (Cosmic/Rock)
    Deoxys (Cosmic/Psychic)
    Cresselia (Cosmic/Psychic)

Change fighting to Combat, steel to Metal, dark to Darkness, electric to Lightning, and normal to Neutral.

Rename; Rock into Stone. It just seems more fitting, imo. (I was stuck for thinking up something for this, admittedly) I was going to change Steel into Tech, but 'tech' only really applied to one or two guys.

Introduce; Magic/Mystic. It'd be kind've like what ghost is to dark types, except using psychic instead of ghost.

Remove; Fairy. Good Arceus, can I not accept this type.

I would change Flying type into Air type. I'd like to see more Pokémon based around the air element without having wings, which is (for the most part) the case right now.

Also change all those Normal/Flying types into pure Air type. Normal/Flying is really overused, and doesn't really make too much sense to me.

Haha, I have heard a handful of others who felt the same way. Personally, I feel that this addition of "Fairy" type isn't all that bad, but it is a little mundane too.

That's an interesting opinion, never really thought of that! The dynamics between sound, dark and water are logical and creative too :)

Renaming "Fairy" to "Magic" was also something I thought that should be changed. As for "Cosmic", in my opinion, is like a subset of "Dark".

Hit right on the nail, you have the same perspective as me! But I would keep "Fighting" as it is though.

I wonder what's with the animosity of the introduction of "Fairy" types, haha :) It's okay but a little redundant too, but not that bad to be removed. I do agree with the "Rock" to "Stone" renaming being more fitting.

I do agree, "Flying" is quite restrictive to only winged Pokemons. "Air" is much more versatile and generalised. I also concur that "Normal" + "Flying" dual types pokemons are redundant, they can't be normal if they have a different type, so "Flying" alone would seem more logical.

Is sound something that really has that much possibility though? Noivern and exploud is really it, fairy at least had more people of the type already made. And you could say every Pokémon uses sound, its not a potentially exclusive quality. We just focus on noivern and exploud because they make lots of it.

Rename Ground as Earth, Fairy as Moon/Lunar (or maybe even Light, to counter Dark), Grass should really be Plant, Electric as Lightning (sounds cooler), split Flying between Avian/Wind types, and Steel as Metal. I feel like Normal and Fighting are kind of strange but can't think what to replace them with.

Perhaps "Sound" would be more for being a secondary type for Pokemons who are capable of utilising sound waves, or make loud noises (eg roars, howls, shrieks, etc).

Earth in my opinion isn't practical, as it's not in the context of the PokeWorld. I was thinking of "Terra" for "Ground" instead. Other than that, I agree with the rest :)

Bye bye fairy type! Or at least they could balance it so it's not a dragon murderer. Sure dragons take half damage from a few more common types like grass and water, but they have four resistances total, Grass, Fire, Water, and Electric. The four elements, if you will. Dragons also currently take double damage from their own type, Ice, and Fairy (tbh, how does Fairy being effective against Dragon even make sense? Is this a Fairy Tail reference?).

However, NO-ONE seems to consider the fact that Steel has ten resistances! It has three weaknesses as well, Ground, Fighting, and Fire. The former two are actually fairly common to see, whether as moves or as Pokémon. However, that does not change the fact that Steel still has TEN resistances! And I forgot that poison immunity as well. The only way I can see this being offset is by the fact that pure steel types are fairly rare, and Steel/Electric are somewhat prevalent, though they have levitate nine times out of ten.

Okay, this is stretching on and I need to get to school. Rant over!
