Everyone loves talking about their injuries and whatnot I've found. So why not have a thread about it? What's the worst injury you have suffered?

Mine was when I broke my arm playing soccer in gym class, I was around 13. I was playing defense, ran towards the person with the ball, locked legs with them and fell. I landed on my left hand, but on the top of it with my wrist bent downward, then rolled over on it, got back up and started running again. There was a pain in my knee too, but that shortly went away. The pain in my arm didn't, and it felt heavy and cold. I looked down at my arm and stopped running. It was mangled and twisted in an awful way, my hand was straight on, but my forearm was a lot more sideways, and there was a wall of bone stopping me from moving my hand in a "palm up" way. I was horrified, but then at that moment I went it to shock, I guess it's a natural defense mechanism. A calmness came over me and I felt no pain. Just walked over to the teacher, told her about it, and just walked back into the school with some friends, showing them it. Called my dad, told him about it.

I didn't really feel pain until I went to get x-rays and had to hold it in certain positions. I was doped up a short time later while the bone was reset. I wish they would have put me out completely. I snapped and twisted both the ulna and radius of my left arm, the two bones in the forearm right below the wrist. It was just okay enough not to require surgery. The doctor snapped it back into place manually. Even with the drugs I was on, which made me feel nothing really, unable to open my eyes, I still felt the doctor ram the bone back in place, and it still hurt many times more than any other time. I couldn't imagine ever having it done with no drugs at all. Arm is fine now, but weaker than my right by a bit since I really didn't do much physiotherapy to get the strength back.

    So now your turn.

I don't know if this is considered a "injury" but I had surgery once in my abdomen. (they had to remove a tumor and such but I won't go too in depth) It was a major surgery and I had to stay in the hospital for 2 nights. The surgery itself was no pain of course, I felt nothing during the actual procedure (under anesthetics and such). But it was the whole aftermath which was terrible...

When I came home, for the next 4 weeks the pain was so annoying and pretty much left me in the worse situation I've been in (pain wise) xD But the good thing was as long as I was laying (no use of my abdomen muscles) I felt pretty fine. But I pretty much could barely walk. I dreaded having to get up out of bed since it hurt so bad :( When I did get up, I had to walk with my back hunched like a old man or something. It really sucked. The core of my body was hard to control, so even sitting up was hard. I couldn't sleep much either since I had to lay on my back (i only sleep well on my sides and it hurt to do that). I could go on lol xD

I never experienced something like this and it was definitely strange. Wouldn't want to go through it again. But I'm glad its all over :)

Well, I had an injury when I was in grade school. I was sharpening a pencil using a cutter when suddenly the next thing I knew was my finger was bleeding. The skin had been cut, and I wasn't aware of it until someone pointed it out for me. Stupid eh?

And then, another freak accident happened when I was in 4th year high, I was about to stand up when someone accidentally stepped on my pinky, damn it hurts. The skin was opened and I was rushed to the clinic... It's like my fingers are the primary target of random injuries eh?

When I was about 2 years old, I fell off of a pinball machine and split my head open just above my eye. They apparently glued the skin back together, so theres still a small scar above my eye.

When I was like 5 I was chasing my Dad around the house and when we got into the kitchen he moved out the way, but I kept running and went into the corner of the counter. I have a scar on the top right of my head now, although I actually think it looks pretty cool there. xD

Broke both ankles, both hands, 8 fingers (Not all the same time, lol), tore muscle in right shoulders, no cartilage left in knees, broke orbital bone, and I had a brain tumor back in the day. Those are the biggest ones. Worst pain ever though? Severe sinus infection, spent 2 months with an IV in my arm going to the hospital for antibiotics everyday, loaded on percocets, and had a dental block (Needle under eyeball, freezes face). That was the worst few months I've ever had.

Oh, wow. Do you play a lot of sports or something like that? How did you get so many injuries? :P

I only had some problems with my fingers bending backwards too hard a couple of times, and I had to wear a plaster on my leg twice for similar reasons, but I don't think I had actually broken the bones back then. Other than that, I don't think I've had any major injury. I did have to get sewn some three points in my knee due to a bike accident, though.

I've had five surgeries, but 4 of them were planned.

The one I class as an injury was when I broke my nose playing rugby. I was right in the middle of the scrum, and it went down. I landed on the bottom, some guy's elbow landed on my nose and EVERYONE ELSE landed on top of him. I was supposed to be wearing a yellow shirt. I came out light headed and wearing a red shirt. :(

I didn't actually realise it was broken until like a year and a half later, when I randomly decided to look up my nostril loads... and I found out I only had one nostril :D I had a septoplasty to fix it all up.

I had two concussions during my life now. The first one was when I was four years. I fell down the stairs and since then I'm afraid of hights. The second one was one year ago during a anime convention. A friend huged me down :D

I broke my wrist a while back, still have the brace on. It hurt like hell, but I didn't think I broke it because I wasn't in tears like most people would be. I wasn't even crying. The doctor wasn't too delicate when he felt it up and when I went for an X-Ray, probably didn't help. I was a bit shocked when I found out it was broken, the radius bone if I remember correctly. It's been a huge pain getting it all patched up. :(

Wow, those are some pretty crazy injuries. O.O I got into accidents before (mostly traffic related) but I always escape with a whole bunch of scratches.

The worse one was last year, I was on my way to school. I had to cross the street to get to the train station. I looked both ways and there was no car so I crossed like any normal person. Apparently, there was this stupid driver who went out of his lane to avoid traffic and he didn't see me cross. BAM! I got hit on the shoulder and my things went flying. I'm glad he hadn't picked up speed yet or it would've been much worse. I was pretty disoriented and I couldn't see anything (my glasses were off somewhere).

I can't remember clearly what I said, but apparently my brother said that I said I still wanted to go to school since I had a test. I kinda vaguely remember this. My god, priority woman!

Got sent to the hospital. Was pretty bruised and had to stay for a while but no broken bones or anything. I've been scared of crossing roads ever since. And I still feel pain when I think about it. Oh, silly me.

When I was 7 I was sledding in Lake Tahoe and the sled had crashed into this rock under the snow. The sled stopp suddenly, and I flew off and landed right on my shoulder on the awfully hard snow. I heard a crack, and it hurt so fucking bad I was crying on the top of my lungs. My parents rushed me to the hospital, and I had severely broke my right collar bone

I may have been overexaggerating on the crying part, but I was seven, children.

When I was 11 1/2 I was running in P.E. on some stony concrete and I managed to slip and land right on my elbow. I got a ginormous scrape; heck, there's still a nasty scar on that very elbow. It hurt bad enough to be broken, not to mention I walked around for four days with me unable to straighten it, but it took those four days to realize it was more than just a bug scrape and that it was broken too.

I've actually never sprained or broken a bone before.

But two days before my 9th birthday, it was actually a Friday the 13th which is kind of funny now, we were running in P.E. and I fell and scraped the fingers on my left hand really bad and a lot of the skin was gone, and it was bleeding a lot. I felt really dizzy from the pain, but I forced myself not to cry in front of everyone, but a few tears did still drop.

In the playground or w/e Americans call it I was walking by a bench when some dumb kid rushed in to me, knocking me in to a bench. Made a hole in the bottom of my mouth and I had to keep spitting up blood in to a sink. They didn't even send me home even though I felt dizzy the whole day and I had a literal hole there...School sucks. (This was a long time ago)

I think the one injury I've had to get the most treatment for was a broken toe after I tried to kick my cousin and he blocked it. Went to go get acupuncture for it. Never again, though. Not too fond of pain.
