    (Thanks... It's a little better now. Hard to believe I've been away for a while! Though it feels like something's caught in my throat :()

    @SAF

    What Nora couldn't have known was that there were some students from Byakuya-shi who were shooting pictures of Kai and Nora performing and then posted them on their school page (along the lines of fanboy/fangirling over seeing school idols). For others in the impromptu audience, they were a little shy at giving suggestions, not knowing what music they preferred playing.

    "Um..." an Ylisstol High schoolboy raised his hand. "How about something that would fit the mood in a park?"

    Soon enough, Robyn was within range of seeing her fellow clubmates performing at the auditorium. They looked like they were having fun! On top of that, she was surprised she hadn't been a victim of being overrun by fans. After all, Robyn was appearing publicly. Or maybe she was overthinking how much influence she had as a school idol.

    @ChocoChicken

    No one seemed to notice that Alex's bag was moving on its own (or at least, that what it seemed like). Slowly, the bag silently crept up to Tamal as if it were some kind of monster from a horror anime. Smiling from behind Alex's bag, Morgan's mischievous grin never wavered when she decided to give a little push on the bag and make it fall on top of the boy. Although Morgan intended Alexa as her target, she decided at the last moment that someone had to get crushed.

    So Alexa's bag began to topple over...

    @122 Generation @ChocoChicken @WavePearl (The last one's an obligatory tag, just in case.

    Also, sorry for the delay. I just wanna see Alex's and/or Tamal's reaction(s) to Morgan's tome stacker prank tbh. :D)

    "Hm? Sure, gimme a mo," still with a smile, Kai raised a hand for a "please wait" signal. And one discussion with his sister later, the two finally settled for a Luigi song:

    (Pity Maya is too far away to hear that atm...)

    Meanwhile, at the local movie theater, Maya was one of the many excited people in line to see one movie or another. She had worked hard with finals coming up, the club, and in play rehearsals, so a movie seemed like the perfect treat.

    (No worries. Same here! We'll give @ChocoChicken some more time if needed. I'd love to see the reactions too :D)
    Amatsu Park A very upbeat tune that many gamers would know from Super Luigi began playing throughout the park. Moreover, it was mainly Nora's talent with the strings and bow that caught everyone's attention. With Kai's accompaniment, it was a sure way of adding atmosphere to Amatsu Park.

    The way Robyn saw it, they were definitely having fun! Some bystanders were recording the performance on their cameras while others (including Robyn) nodded their heads to the beat. That went without saying that those walking around the park could also hear the catchy tune.

    @WavePearl
    Goldenrod Square It was particularly busy at the Goldenrod Square theatre and Maya would find herself at a crowded lineup at the box office - which was not surprising for a Saturday. Granted, there were not a lot of high school students there like her because they were probably preparing for finals.

    Even then, among the few students that were there was Nowi, who was debating whether to watch the movie adaptation of Phoenix Quest.

    Being so absorbed in her practice exam - and her senses dulled from the late hours of last night - meant Alex barely noticed if her bag had moved away from her. As far as she was concerned, she could feel the weight of something, so that was probably her notebooks. And she couldn't look up, lest she lose precious seconds.

    Tamal on the other hand was more distracted by the music in the air that he didn't see the bag rising up behind him. Really, it was anything to get his mind off his current predicament. It wasn't that his brain didn't like thinking! It just didn't like thinking about macromolecules. "Hey, did you think the song just cha-"

    It was only at that moment he took notice of the shadow over him, interrupting his previous sentence. He only got about a moment to turn with a "whA-" before the entirety of Alex's study materials come down on top of him, burying him and his yell underneath textbooks and worksheets in an almost cartoonish manner. It was no small number, either - what was Alex keeping in there, a second library?! The seemingly impossibly number of books just kept sliding out for what almost felt like minutes, especially for the poor boy underneath with barely a hand managing to escape the pile atop him.

    Barely missing a beat, and still hunched over her exams and writing in her multiple choices, Alex stood up. With her free hand, she began flipping some of the books off the pile on top of Tamal. Though, if one were to look closer at her face, her brow was more furrowed now, almost as if she was actively fighting to keep her focus on the papers under her even as she took some - really not many, given her split attention - of the books off. (She would probably be a bit peeved about them being out of order later.)

    Before Robin knew it, Tamal was suddenly buried in a wave of books and notebooks, and his hand was eerily peeking out from below as if it had been buried in a mudslide. What exactly happened here? Where did the books come from? More importantly, how did this happen? Suddenly worried for his clubmate, Robin went to join Alexa's side. "Tamal-kun? Tamal-kun?! Are you okay?!" Robin said. Moreover, Robin was curious as to why Alex was taking unusual care of her books, so he was careful not to upset her.

    By the time he and Alexa had extracted Tamal's limp body from the heap of books, Robin panicked. It really did look like Tamal was found dead! Robin shouted, "No! Tamal-kun! Stay with us! Stay away from the light!"

    Right behind the pile of books, Morgan's mischievous grin broke into a series of laughs. Her prank went better than she expected - even better than her previous attempts at tome stackers. Neither had she expected this many books to spill out of the enormous bag that she had pushed. This was way more than the number of tomes she had put together when playing tome stackers! Perhaps there was more than met the eye when it came to Alexa's bag, because the number of books that spilled out couldn't possibly fit inside it (yet it did). Never in her experience with playing tome stackers had her attempt ever been this successful. She had crushed Robin with tomes before so that he didn't move.

    But this? This was a whole other level.

    "Heheh... Hahahahaha!" Morgan laughed so hard that she rolled over on the grass behind her. "Oh... huh?" she heaved, still struggling to stop laughing. "Onii-chan? D-did you see that?"

    Robin deadpanned. Was not Morgan the least bit concerned she might cause some kind of injury? However, neither did Robin expect the number of textbooks and worksheets to come spilling out either.

    (Haven't fully recovered yet but my brain just can't shut up. Dang. :sweat:)

    One round or two of encore later, the Hansens ended the song where they felt appropriate. The two gave their thanks amid the cheers and applause, then started to pack their instruments away as the audience went on their merry ways. Nora, for one, was in for a surprise when she found her violin case opened with some money inside (she'd previously left it closed before the recording). Apparently someone thought the siblings were street performers but couldn't find any tip jars nearby, so they decided to use the violin case as one. And thankfully though, whoever opened the case had some decency to cover Nora's phone (which had been kept inside) with the enclosed violin blanket before letting people pile it with cash. What a way to earn...

    The beeping of a phone timer interrupted Alex's last few checkings, and she flipped her practice exam over. She briskly made her way around the table and began stacking the books back up in order, moving them back into her bag as she went with her expression in a deadpan frown. "Don't worry about him. He's not dead, just dramatic."

    "But Alex, I am dying."

    "Very funny."

    Robyn The way Robyn saw it, there was quite a bit of cash stowed inside Nora's case. It should be enough to buy a couple meals from the convenience store or at Anna's - if not more than that! Maybe a few rounds at the arcade too.

    After Robyn finished recording on her phone, she went up to the Hansens as the applause died down and people went about their separate ways. "That was pretty well done, you two! You looked great!" she said excitedly, with balled fists. "Ooh, and you got tips too? That's really something. You performed well! So... what will you spend this on?"

    @ChocoChicken
    Robin Then Robin went over to help Morgan on her feet. He looked cross. "Morgan... You know, that could have seriously hurt someone," he tried scolding her. But how could he scold his adorable sister with that not-so-innocent-looking face?

    "Onii-chan, you have to give me credit here!" Morgan said, her face hopeful. "look at the size of the bag! It was just standing there, waiting to be pushed..." Morgan grinned. "I should learn from this." She eyed the big stack of books that Alexa was making already.

    Robin sighed heavily. It was so hard to be mad at Morgan. Great - now he would have to be extra careful when coming home. He didn't want to be buried in a library of books like poor Tamal did here (and Morgan better not find this many books either). Speaking of Tamal, it looked like he was unconscious. Was it really this bad? Worse still, Alexa looked like she wanted to pull her hair out from organising her books. So the least Robin could do was neatly stack the books so Alex could organise them later. Though he did sneak a laugh at Tamal's 'last moments'.

    "Is that everything?" he asked Alex. "Hope that didn't get in the way of your studies."

    @WavePearl
    Goldenrod Square Eventually, it was time for the movie to start. Nowi had grabbed herself a seat with some sweets to snack on - which was a few boxes of Pocki - while she watched the movie adaptation of Phoenix Quest. She was very excited to watch this! There was already a dramatic opening scene playing already.

    "It should be. Thanks for the help." Though Alex tried her best to be cordial about it, some of the tiredness must have showed up as she sorted out a few more stacks of her biology textbooks. This was going to take a while for her to get back together.

    In the back, Tamal slid himself back into a sitting position and slumped back over his own worksheets. Morgan's... whatever the word for what she'd just pulled off had distracted him a little from the stress, but Robin's remark brought it almost right back.

    Robin smiled. Not even Morgan's attempt at tome stackers (that is, the word that Tamal was looking for) could distract everyone from the looming finals. Speaking of Tamal, it looked like Robin didn't need to worry about him getting distracted by Morgan's devious prank.

    He looked at Alex. "Are you tired out? We could go for a walk around the park for a breather if you're up for it." From the looks of Alexa, she may as well burn out her brain by the time she had finished sorted things out. Plus, Robin made sure to keep an eye on Morgan from now on whenever Alexa's bag was around.

    Maya was enthralled by the dazzling martial arts she remembered from the games, the grand epic quest worthy of a game, and cameos of some iconic Phoenix Quest characters. The story wasn't winning any originality points, but then again, the point of Phoenix Quest wasn't really the story--and the movie critics thankfully understood that.

    Maya was absolutely correct. The story was lacking and instead focused on references from the games. Any fan of Phoenix Quest could easily catch onto the references. At the very least, there was the basic plot where the heroes go on an adventure and encounter at least one mythical phoenix.

    And of course Nowi, being her age, didn't mind the plot being hollow at all (including the heroic quote "Better to die than to live with the shame of defeat!"). This was good relief from hours of studying for finals.

    (I watched the Mario movie and, in my honest opinion, found the plot wasn't that great. There's lots of references to the games at least)

    "I will be fine. Thank you for the books, but I'll handle the rest on my own" Alex responded, pulling out a second practice paper. She'd only managed to get 90% correct on that first one. Not good enough.

    Tamal on the other hand flipped open his own past paper with a sigh. Best not to bother Alex for now - he could ask questions when her timer was up.

    (As a person who is extremely normal (sarcasm) about the Mario franchise, I liked it. Plot may be barebones but that has literally never been the strong suit since the RPGs, and the Mario RPGs are sadly, alarmingly dead. I will go on for literal hours about the Koopalings and how the main series and RPGs have changed their personalities)

    Looking up from packing her violin, Nora could see a certain whitehead girl gushing over the cash she'd unknowingly earned somehow. "Ah, Robyn-senpai!" she chirped. "Oh, hey Chief," her brother greeted as soon as he noticed a familiar face near his sister.

    And to Robyn's question about the hard-earned tips, Kai immediately answered on Nora's behalf (he was done with packing his piano away and now about to do the same with his recording device), "Hmm, I think Nora's saving up for a new Poketto game--" "The Violet one!" He chuckled at her sudden interruption -- not that he would mind anyway. "Yeah, that." Well, at least the younger Hansen would be even more motivated to save up now that she had a way to earn her own money.

    (Been listening to too much livetune ft. Miku these days... Eh, and least the Mario movie did try to put together some kind of plot)

    @ChocoChicken
    Robin The big stack of books that was literally Alexa's backpack looked extremely tempting to Morgan. She just needed one more push and either Alex or Robin would be buried. Plus, it was very nice of everyone to put the books back so that the bag towered above someone...

    "Huh? Onii-chaaaaan!" Morgan whined.

    Being the tactician that he was (similar to Robyn, of course), Robin already caught wind of what Morgan intended to do just by looking at her eyes. Immediately, Robin held Morgan back by her shoulders (thankfully, Morgan was still short). "Come now, Morgan. Once was enough," he whispered, hoping that Alexa didn't hear him. Who knows if Alex might explode if a stack of books toppled on top of her? He could already imagine the sadistic look on Morgan's face. Gosh, he bet not even Robyn's version of Morgan was this troublesome. Was this some kind of curse?

    In the end, he did his best to focus on his studies alongside Alexa, so he opened up his notebook and reviewed his notes, all while keeping a sharp eye out for Morgan. He could only imagine the horror of an endless stream of books burying him alive, which seemed worse than a stack of tomes. Maybe he ought to set a timer for himself like Alex did, although Robin functioned better on a chapter-by-chapter basis.

    @SAF @Pirate Captain
    Robyn The mention of the new Poketto game along with Nora's sparkling eyes made Robyn smile, as she was reminded of her own attached fandom to the popular game series.

    She played with the Tepig keychain on the phone she had just used to record Nora and Kai with. "That's not a bad goal, Nora-chan! Especially when you have some cash to work with," Robyn replied to her underclassman. "That reminds me, I should get a copy of Violet so we can do co-op activities together." (Granted, Robyn still had a healthy amount of cash to last her, which was earned from the Halidom)

    She turned to her bag. "Oh, by the way, Tala-chan mailed me a letter for all of us. We have to show this to the others later. That said..." Robyn looked across the park and thought she saw Robin in the distance. Even from this distance, there was an unusually tall bag beside him for some reason...

    The glimmer in Nora's eyes got brighter and the smile on her lips got wider following her eager nod at the prospect of co-op gaming. "I think Maya-senpai's getting Scarlet too..." she chirped while loosening her bow a little as a part of violin safekeeping. "Maybe we can trade?"

    The sight of his sister in a particularly good mood filled Kai with delight, and even moreso with a notification about Tala's letter. However, what made his expression change was the sight of Robyn getting lost in thought for some reason. "Uh... Chief? You there?" he waved a hand in front of her face in an attempt to snap the whitehead from whatever trance she was in.

    Robyn Robyn’s eyes became very bright at the prospect that she could potentially do co-op gaming with Maya as well ("We have to trade once that happens!" she added). That brightness was short-lived, however, when she looked across the distance.

    Robin was there… and wasn’t that Alexa and Tamal sitting with him? Before she could squint her eyes to try and get a better view (she was worried that Robin was on some kind of date without her), she was instantly snapped out of her trance by Kai's hand. "Oh!" she said. "Uh... It's just that I think I see Robin, Alex-chan, and Tamal-kun on the other side. Maybe we should see them! They need to see this letter too." Or rather, Robyn just wanted to see what Robin was up to.

    @WavePearl
    Goldenrod Square Speaking of Maya, as Nora had put it, the movie ended as a proper plot should have. It wasn't that amazing as an original movie would have, but what else could anyone expect from a movie directly inspired by a video game? One would hope that there could be a proper movie derived from a game, but at least the Phoenix Quest movie was raking in money at the box office...
