I know this can differ from artist to artist, but whether art is your passion or not, do you find drawing tedious of calming? Is it calming usually or can it become frustrating at times? What's it like the majority of times for you?

Relief. It's so calming, and I love to do it.

I find it very calming but apparently my muscles don't, I get really tense in my shoulders and often find my neck and upper-back are sore afterward.

Relief! It's a lot of fun to do art (even though my art is terrible), but it makes me feel calmer and just lets me express myself in a less violent way.

It's very relaxing to me if I'm drawing on paper. As soon as I start with my computer, though, it becomes very stressing.

The only time art has been stressful for me was when I had to do it for school. Which is why I'm really hesitant to pursue a career with it.

But yeah, usually it's pretty calming, as it typically helps brings my mind off of anything going on that may be weighing on me.

Usually relief, when sketching/doodling/colouring for something that will not be submitted, but when you intend to work on something big (like fully coloured works), it can be pretty taxing.

Today was extremely stressful for me. :(
As a result, I vented all my frustrations doing this:

So this is probably proof of how drawing relieves my stress and troubles... :)

honestly, a little bit of both. It's stressful when you feel obliged to it, like you need to practice, but then there are also times when it's a really good distraction from real life.

I think it's very different from person to person as some has the issue where they do it for school/work and it becomes stressfull because of that. It can also become stressfull if you see yourself as bad and is actively trying to improve, but just can't seem to get better no matter what you try.
That said, I think those that are over that phase where they see mistakes in their own work all the time, has an easier time drawing which makes it more of a stress relief~

    I find it more relaxing.

Just guessing here, of course no one knows the personal opinions of anyone else truly and it definitely differs from person to person, but I feel like that the only reason why to someone it would be stressful is because they are trying to become the best artist ever.

I don't know, I view art as art. In my personal opinion, there is no such thing as "bad art." Art expresses who we are and what we like to do. I also know that art is a craft, so there are ways to improve art to look more realistic based on color and line precision. So the act of learning the tricks and perfecting them to give off a certain "realistic appeal" is more the stress trigger itself versus of the act of just drawing for fun.

So lets put it like this.
Drawing on its own is relaxing.
    Improving a craft is stressful.

....I don't know why I went all philosophical there.

I like to think of it as a stress relief, since being upset, stressed, or bored is typically when I decide to do some art. The actual drawing process tends to be a little monotonous and leave my hands tired by the end, but the satisfaction I get when I finish a picture is the "true" release, in a sense. I can agree with some of the other posts here, though; I find having to draw for school assignments un-fun and a nuisance, and have never liked art classes past Elementary due to how rarely the teacher gives the class free will to draw what they want to.

I can say right now that I am really bad at drawing, but I do draw once in a while to relieve some stress. Along with video games and reading, this is the best way to relieve stress imo.

Well, drawing is one of my major methods of relieving stress. However, if the drawing is turning out to be bad, it causes stress. So basically, it depends on how well I am drawing at the time. :P

It starts off as a stress relief. It gives me the change to work on something at my own pace, without having to worry about anyone else bothering me. It's really peaceful, actually... Until something in the drawing goes wrong. You try to fix it, but that makes it even worse, so you erase half of your drawing and start over, but then you can't get it to look as good as it was before... That's the point where it turns from a stress relief into a stress gain...
