It was me. I did it.

It was me. I admit it, I'm to blame. I am the cause for the Mentor group removal. And I'll proudly say it too! Yeah that's right, it was me, and this is all a part of my plan!

It all started on a dark, stormy night... Well, it was probably only dark because I closed all my doors, windows, and curtains. I tend to do that a lot.
Anyway, I was browsing LV and I noticed that pale yellow color just... there. Why did it have to clash with the rest of the colors? Pale yellow is so 2014, my friends. I couldn't let this go on any longer. And so it began.

I stayed up for 3 days and 3 nights, attempting to think of a way to get rid of Mentors. I almost went crazy. But then it hit me. A lightbulb even appeared above my head. Probably because I turned on the lights and stood under one, but that's not the point. I finally had a plan. Something that would slowly, but surely kill that treacherous group.
So there I was, coding for countless hours. I grew a 5 o'clock shadow at one point. Okay maybe that's a lie, I already had facial hair at this point. But I grew more!
After coding for what felt like years but in reality was a few weeks, it was finally complete. Everyone was happy. I was happy. Things were coming into place.

Weeks pass and we notice that the Mentors are dying down. They're not being used. They're weak. This is exactly what I wanted.
So I innocently kept nudging at hints that we should do something about the Mentors group. Week by week, I'd drop some more hints. A couple sentences here and there. I even got the Mentors themselves in on it. We tossed some ideas around, but the time finally came for everyone to realize that they were no longer needed. Everything happened so perfectly. It was almost too good to be true. Life was good for a short while.

I am making this thread to tell you all the truth. I felt like this was a very necessary thing to do. If you are looking for someone to blame for the removal of the Mentors group, blame me.
I created something that eliminated the existence of an entire group. A group that has been around for over a year, almost 2. Something that has been a part of Lake Valor for so long, and was constantly thought highly of. I did it. I created a weapon of destruction while also creating something very supportive and helpful to the site. I've created something capable of many things. And if you're not careful, I may just create something to eliminate your group as well...

Very, very wrong, actually. Going out of my way implies effort is required, therefore automatically disqualifying that possibility.
When I'm not making posts, I'm usually on the board index page of LV. There are 3 other possible places I could've seen the Mentor's name glow color.

• On the member list of who's currently online
• On the member list of who has been online in the past 24 hours
• On the member group legend, right below both those sections just mentioned

If timed correctly, I could've seen it at all 3 locations at once. Something like that actually isn't very hard to achieve either.
Nice theory, but try harder next time.

 

Changing the color was not an option, because every single other group already had their distinctive color, and a color change to the group would be too big of a change. Convincing the rest of the team to change the color would be hard enough, not to mention we'd probably have to ask the members ourselves about what they think afterwards. That kind of process would take too much time and persuasion, I couldn't possibly do it that way and succeed as great as I did.

My motives need not to be publicly stated; they are very clear to begin with.
LV was in dire need of something that could make understanding the site very much easier and less intimidating than Mentors. Although they were a friendly bunch, some members just prefer not to take that route. And thus, Guidance of Valor was created.
True, I didn't like the color for Mentors. Yes, that is my main reason for wanted it removed. And yes, I probably do have other unspoken of motives, but you can't prove that when all my other intentions are pure.
