I want to get a Japanese 3DS due to the fact that most of the 3DS games I want are Japanese-exclusive.
However, I live in Australia, which uses a completely different electrical plugs than Japan. I have an Australian DS Lite Charger.

I've read that a DS Lite charger works on a 3DS.

So will an Australian DS Lite charger work on a Japanese 3DS? o:

I tried plugging my DS Lite charger into my 3DS (both are American devices) and the charger didn't fit. The 3DS charger seemed to be a slightly different shape than the DS Lite one.
So, here at least, it seems like a 3DS charger would be required.

I'd assume that an Australian charger would work with a Japanese 3DS (not 100% sure, but it seems like a safe assumption), and you could probably just order an Australian charger online if you need to.

All right, thanks! :) So, if my Australian DS Lite charger doesn't fit, the Australian 3DS charger would? I'm a little concerned since this country has such high voltage and I've been electrocuted a few times just by plugging in appliances. I've also heard about people charging their 3DS through their computer :o

Your Australian 3DS charger will work with a Japanese 3DS, but your DS lite certainly won't.

Even on the off chance if you could get a DSi charger, that would charge your 3DS. I've used my DSi charger with my 3DS a few times.

If you can find a 3DS USB charger, use it. You can plug that into many different outlets, so its worth the money to buy one.

Oh I see! I made a mistake; DS Lite doesn't work on 3DS but DSi does. :)
Okay, so I'll buy an Australian DSi/3DS charger USB :3 Thanks everyone ^_^
