The most important thing discovered about a fictional land ever!! >3< lol
My reasoning; Sun sets in the North, proven by the Anistar sun dial. Also, the coldest citys are to the eastern most point. If you turn it sideways so that Couriway is the farthest north, the world makes more sense.

The fact that you happened to notice that is pretty impressive.... and the fact that that's a true statment is just weird. I mean, why in the world would they put it sideways?!

Maybe they did it purely so I would notice it and you would be impressed with me. :D

This makes me question all logic! I think they did it to make the map look more practical and to make the starting town seem like its in a more logical placement.

Actually, the Sundial is facing the east. When you land at the Pokémon Center, you have to go East to get to the Sundial, and whenever you go to the bridge, it turns the camera 90 degrees to where you go "north" to the Sundial, so in fact, Kalos is reversed, which would mean the eastern-most cities should really be in the west, which would make the west the coldest.

But its at the top of the area. Its still to the 'north'.

What you seem fo be forgetting is that the Pokémon world is not Earth. The sun rises in the east and sets in the west on Earth simply because of the way the planet rotates. Another planet could rotate in a different way. Also the snowy regions being in the east is simply due to elevation; you're in the mountains, filling up the mountain Pokédex. As you go up in elevation, temperature drops. Even on Earth, even in hot places, you go high enough into the mountains and you will find snow.

Well that still leaves the sunrise/set thing. That means at the very least the suns pattern is different if i am wrong about the map.

No, the sunrise/sunset thing I explained by how the world of Pokémon is not the Earth. The sun sets and rises on Earth in the east and west respectively due only to the way the planet rotates. If it's different in the Pokémon world that would simply mean that this planet rotates it a different way. If it is meant to be a future Earth or what have you, then yeah, the map is incorrect.

Well, I just ment I've still pointed out something interesting. That the sun is different if the map isnt sideways.

I wondered why the one town filled with snow in Kalos was in the east (or west, I'm not sure now that I've read all the posts in this thread) rather than the north, and now I understand why. :) Doima is right about not all planets being like Earth, which would make sense for Kalos to be diverse from our planet, but for the creators to even come up with something like this is pretty cool.
