Kalos League Victors

How I think the finals of the Kalos League should've ended... (I originally wrote it a COUPLE OF WEEKS before the episodes, so I originally had different Pokémon for Alain...but changed it). Enjoy!

LUMIOSE CITY, KALOS REGION

Ash pauses before walking through the entrance tunnel and out to the battlefield. The Pride of Pallet Town leans against the wall, looks up at the ceiling and sighs.

"I can't believe it!" Ash whispers. "I've finally made it...to the finals..."

Ash takes four items from his pocket and looks at them in his hand. The first is the special fishing lure that Misty had given him a long, long time ago.

"Pikapi?" Pikachu asks his Trainer. You alright, Ash?

The second object is half of the Terracotta Contest Ribbon. The other half belongs to May of Petallburg City. Third, a bracelet that Dawn had made for him. Ash pulls the bracelet onto his left wrist, tucking it underneath his glove.

And the final one...a small pendant that Iris had made for him featuring the Legendary Dragon Pokémon Zekrom and Reshiram. Ash places the pendant around his neck, smiling, confident that his Truths and Ideals will pull him through.

Ash closes his fist, then replaces the items into his pocket. Ash nods, and then continues to the battlefield.

"Pikachu, let's go win this." Ash says, turning to his partner. "For everyone we know, Pokémon and people alike."

"Pika!" Pikachu agrees.

Ash and Alain step onto their trainer platforms on either side of the battlefield from each other. They grin at the other, happy to have this battle in the finals of the Kalos League.

"Well Ash, looks like this is our final battle." Alain calls to his ultimate rival.

"Sure is. Don't underestimate me Alain...I've matured much more since you last battled me." Ash informs.

"I wouldn't dream of it. Let the best Trainer win!"

"Right."

"Pikachu!" Pikachu agrees from Ash's shoulder.

"And we are at the ultimate stage in the Kalos League!" The announcer says through the microphone. We have Alain, a young man from Lumiose City and former assistant to Professor Sycamore."

Alain waves to the crowd, who cheers, especially Mairin. Pr. Sycamore smiles sadly at Alain, since Alain had put him off before the Kalos League.

"His opponent...another young man, Ash Ketchum of Pallet Town in the Kanto region! This is the first time ever that this fourteen-year-old Trainer has reached the finals of a League. Give him a hand!"

Pikachu and Ash smiles and waves to the crowd, who explodes with applause, whooping, hollering, clapping, whistling. Diantha and Pr. Sycamore both clap and smile for Ash.

"You can beat him, Alain!" Mairin cheers from the stands, sitting with Ash's friends. "Go for it!"

"Ches pin pin chespin!" Chespie echoes next to his Trainer.

"GO ASH! WIN THE LEAGUE!" Ash's friends scream, trying to drown out Mairin and Chespie.

CIANWOOD CITY, JOHTO REGION

In the Pokémon Center lobby, young Trainers gather around the television set mounted on the wall. On screen is live coverage of the Lumiose Conference Finals from the Kalos region. The Silver Conference having recently ended, the Kalos League is the next best thing to watch on TV!

The closest Trainer to the TV is a fourteen-year-old caramel skinned girl with chocolate brown eyes and large, long purple hair. In her arms, she holds an Axew. It is Iris, Ash's female traveling companion in the Unova region.

Iris smiles, seeing Ash at the ultimate stage in a Pokémon League. Oh Ash...you're not a little kid anymore...you're...you're...well...

LUMIOSE CITY, KALOS REGION

Alexa and Viola joins Ash's friends in the stands, as well as Meyer, Clemont and Bonnie's father. Far below the stadium, the first battlefield begins to raise the surface.

"Let's see what our first battlefield will be..." The battlefield surfaces, a canyon land battlefield. "And it's the shallow canyon!"

"Okay, the battle between Alain of Lumiose City and Ash Ketchum of Pallet Town is about to begin." The ref informs. "Each Trainer has access to six Pokémon only with substitutions allowed. The battle will be over as soon as all of one Trainer's Pokémon are unable to battle. Trainers, choose your first Pokémon...let the finals of the Kalos League begin!"

The crowd again explodes with cheering.

"Pikachu, I choose you first!" Ash tells his long-time partner.

"Pika!" Pikachu growls as he runs out onto the battlefield.

"So Ash's first Pokémon is Pikachu!" The announcer cries. "Let's see how Alain decides to respond..."

Alain smiles, then nods. "Weavile, let's go!"

"So, Alain has a Weavile." Ash mutters as the Sharp Claw Pokémon makes its appearance. "Pikachu, heads up! Use...Thunder!"

"Weavile, counter with Metal Claw!"

"PIKACHUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!" Pikachu builds up an electric charge and then lets it loose, electrocuting Weavile.

"Wea!" Weavile cries out, but then shakes it off. It rushes at Pikachu, still using Metal Claw.

A memory quickly flashes in Ash's head... "that's because of Pikachu's Ability, Static!"

Ash nods and smiles. "Pikachu, don't dodge it. Use Static!"

"Pi? Pika pikachu!" Huh? Right, my ability.

Pikachu hunkers down on the ground while being scratched hard by Metal Claw.

"What is....oh my!" The announcer and the crowd gasp as Weavile falls back, sparks of electricity zapping Weavile's body. "Well well well, I have never seen anything like this before. Ash is certainly interesting...using his Pokémon's Ability as a defense against Metal Claw!"

GOLDENROD CITY, JOHTO REGION

At a cafe, Pokémon Doctor Brock and his Croagunk watch the Kalos League finals on TV.

"Well, that's Ash for you..." Brock smiles.

"Croa." Croagunk croaks in agreement.

LUMIOSE CITY, KALOS REGION

"Now...Pikachu, use Electro Ball!"

"Dodge it, Weavile, then use Icy Wind!"

Pikachu gets up spiral-launches Electro Ball as Weavile jumps out of the way. Electro Ball spirals and twists before colliding into Weavile.

"What!?" Alain is shocked.

"Pika." Pikachu smiles, then stumbles. "Pika pikachu..."

"Pikachu, come get some rest, buddy." Ash says, then brings out a Poké Ball as Pikachu runs back over to his Trainer. "Hawlucha, I choose you!"

Hawlucha flies from his Poké Ball to the scoreboard and the flies back down to the field, with the same costume as when Ash battled using Hawlucha in his semifinals battle versus Sawyer.

"Cha!" Hawlucha strikes a pose upon landing on the battlefield.

CERULEAN CITY, KANTO REGION

"And Ash has chosen Hawlucha for his second Pokémon..." The television commentator says. "Good choice, considering it's Fighting type has the advantage over Pokémon like Weavile! This should be interesting..."

"A Hawlucha...?" Misty looks at her laptop screen confused. "What...? Well, whatever it is, it looks okay...probably not as great as Pikachu or Charizard. We'll see. You can do it Ash!"

"Okay, Weavile, use Double Team!" The Trainer in all black calls out.

"Hawlucha, fly around and destroy all of the copies. LOOK FOR THE REAL ONE!" Ash tells the green, red and white hawk-like Pokémon called Hawlucha.

As Weavile activates Double Team, Hawlucha takes off, flying around and crashing through each copy.

"I see..." Misty realizes. "Ash doesn't want to waste Hawlucha's energy just yet by having it attack the copies. Good move, Ash..."

LUMIOSE CITY, KALOS REGION

"Haw! Lu! Haw! Lu! Cha! Cha!" Hawlucha grunts as he destroys each Weavile copy.

"AH!" Alain panics. "Weavile, use Fury Swipes!"

"ALAIN! Fighting types have the advantage over Normal types...that's not gonna do much on Hawlucha!" Ash yells to his rival as Hawlucha destroys the final Weavile copy and corners the real one.

"Weavile!" Weavile scratches at Hawlucha, who pretends to be affected by the attack.

"Hawlucha, X-Scissor!"

Hawlucha counters the Normal type move with a Bug type move, slamming Weavile back into the canyon wall.

UNSPECIFIED LOCATION, HOENN REGION

Using the newly internationally distributed Dexrotom, Cilan of Striaton City watches the Kalos League.

"Well well well, this is a surprise...actually using type advantages...I thought that wasn't part of his strategy." Cilan grins and shakes his head. "Weavile is weak to Fighting and Bug types...Ash's Hawlucha clearly has this battle in the bag!"

LUMIOSE CITY, KALOS REGION

"Hawlucha, use Karate Chop!" Ash commands.

Hawlucha's arm glows and he slams Weavile upon the head.

"Weavile!" Weavile groans, collapsing.

"Weavile, no!" Alain is completely freaked out, not used to an ultra-powerful Ash, like this one... I know he's my ultimate opponent, but how could I possibly beat him when he's at this power... "Try countering with Metal Claw!"

Weavile's claws glow and it swipes at Hawlucha. Hawlucha is hit, shoving him backwards. Hawlucha shakes it off and gets ready to attack again.

"High Jump Attack...then FINISH IT!" Ash commands.

Hawlucha raises one of his feet and slams it into Weavile's chin, then flies into the air.

Weavile falls backwards, onto its butt. It looks up at Hawlucha, who is diving in for Flying Press.

"Weav?" Weavile groans, raising a claw weakly to defend itself.

"Weavile, no!" Alain screams as Hawlucha slams into Weavile hard, kicking up a lot of dust.

"Oh no, I can't see Hawlucha anymore..." Ash mutters, then shudders at something. Huh? What's this? It feels...like something's snapped...something's changed...Hawlucha...be okay...

Don't worry... A voice replies telepathically.

What? Hawlucha?

Yes. Weavile is down!

Okay...clear away the dust and show everyone...

Hawlucha clears away the dust, revealing him standing over the now-fainted Weavile.

"Weavile is unable to battle, Hawlucha is the winner!" The ref declares.

"And Alain is down to his second Pokémon while Ash's first two are still both in full health." The announcer exclaims. "Let's see who Alain uses next."

"Okay, let's do this." Alain whispers, pulling out another Poké Ball. "Bisharp, let's go!"

Hawlucha, you still able to battle?

Of course. Let's end this!

Ash smiles, knowing that this is what Anabel and N meant about opening their hearts to their Pokémon. And now, he can communicate with them telepathically...

"There it is..." Anabel says, watching Ash's battle. "He's finally done it...I can tell..." Now only if he could see what are in people's' hearts as well...'cause I still have feelings for you, Ash...

So Alain has a Bisharp...

A Bisharp?

Dark-Steel type. You should have the advantage.

Great.

Now, start it out with Karate Chop!

Hawlucha begins Karate Chop and rushes Bisharp.

"Bisharp, dodge and use Guillotine!"

Bisharp runs away from Hawlucha, and then slashes it with the blades of energy extending from its arms.

Hawlucha...!

"This is interesting. Ash isn't calling anything out...or saying anything to Hawlucha...but it's clear that something is happening."

Hawlucha, use Flying Press!

My closer move, already?

Yep. Then use Spinning X-Scissor!

PALLET TOWN, KANTO REGION

At Professor Oak's lab, Delia, Pr. Oak, Tracey and Ash and Gary's in-storage Pokémon watch the Kalos League finals on a large TV out back.

They watch Hawlucha use X-Scissor while spinning rapidly towards Bisharp, who counters with Electrify. Both take damage, but it's clear that Hawlucha has taken more damage.

"Wow, Ash's Hawlucha is incredible!" Ash's mother comments.

"For sure. I've never seen such a Pokémon before...can't wait to get to check it out when Ash gets back." Tracey exclaims.

"Yes...but what's interesting is that Ash seems to be silently communicating with Hawlucha." Pr. Oak remarks. "It's absolutely incredible!"

"For sure." Delia agrees. "I wonder if he'll be able to do it with his other Pokémon?"

"Maybe..."

The three watch as Hawlucha is fainted by Bisharp's Guillotine.

LUMIOSE CITY, KALOS REGION

"Hawlucha is unable to battle, Bisharp is the winner." The ref declares.

Ash shivers a bit, returning Hawlucha. "Hawlucha, thank you. Take a good rest. I'm gonna take a break from that telepathy stuff...until I can find Anabel and N and get some help with that from them..."

"Bisharp, can you still battle?" Alain asks the partially-weakened Pokémon.

"Sharp!" Bisharp roars in confirmation.

"Great!" Alain smiles, him and his ultimate rival no evened up.

"Alright...for my third Pokémon..." Ash brings out a Poké Ball, but then looks at Pikachu as the Electric Mouse Pokémon tugs at his Trainer's pants leg. "Pikachu? You want to battle some more?"

"Pika!" Pikachu confirms, jumping to his feet, then out onto the battlefield.

"Alright, then, Pikachu." Ash says, then commands an old move... "Use Volt Tackle!"

"Pika pika pika pika pika pika pika pikachu!" Pikachu runs at Bisharp, surrounded with electricity, then crashes into Bisharp, knocking it down to the ground.

"Finish it with Thunderbolt!"

"PIKACHUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Pikachu screams as he unleashes his most powerful attack on Bisharp.

"Bi..." Bisharp groans as it is electrocuted.

"Bisharp, get up and use Guillotine!"

"Pikachu, use Iron Tail to counter it!"

Despite Bisharp being slightly, significantly larger than Pikachu with a more deadly move, Pikachu's Iron Tail sends Bisharp flying into the canyon wall, and the Guillotine backfires and hurts Bisharp instead!

"Shaaaaar..." Bisharp moans weakly as it slides to the ground.

"Pika..." Pikachu groans, also collapsing!

"Get up!" Ash and Alain calls out to their Pokémon.

Bisharp and Pikachu both struggle to get up, but they both keep falling down.

"These parts of a battle are sometimes the most intense...and exciting..." Diantha declares from her seat in the stadium.

"Agreed. I am well acquainted with both...so it's hard to cheer for one or the other." Sycamore replies.

"Yes, and though I'm supposed to be impartial...I've met Ash, but never Alain..." Diantha sighs, then stands up and cups her hands over her mouth. "COME ON PIKACHU, GET UP AND FAINT BISHARP!"

Sycamore smiles and quietly laughs as Diantha sits back down, embarrassed by what she just did.

PETALBURG CITY, HOENN REGION

After finishing in the Top 16 of the Hoenn League, Max watches the Kalos League with his parents and sister on a small television set in the living room of their house.

Come on, Pikachu...you can do it... Max feels stressed, maybe around the same amount that Ash is.

"Garde." Max's Gardevoir murmurs next to her Trainer.

"Win Ash win!" Jirachi sings, dancing in the air above Max's head. It is the same Jirachi that Max met one his first journey in the Hoenn region with Ash, May and Brock. Apparently, that week, May's wish had been for Jirachi to be one of Max's Pokémon when he became a journey...and that wish came true!

They watch as Pikachu uses Thunder on Bisharp, which proves to be the last straw. Bisharp blinks, groans, then collapses, fainted.

"YES!" Max cheers, punching the air.

"Pikachu did it!" May sighs, then smiles.

LUMIOSE CITY, KALOS REGION

"Bisharp is unable to battle. Therefore, the winner is Pikachu!" The referee declares.

"And Alain is down two Pokémon!" The announcer exclaims. "Though Ash still has five Pokémon who can battle, Pikachu isn't looking like it'll last much longer...let's see what young Ketchum decides to do next."

"Pikachu, can you still battle?"

"Pika!" Yes!

"Alright Pikachu...let's see who Alain uses next..." Ash tells him, before something comes to mind. "Use Iron Tail as soon as it comes out!"

"Tyranitar, come on out!" Alain brings out his Tyranitar. Pikachu flies at Tyranitar as slams its tail into the Armor Pokémon.

"Ty!" Tyranitar stumbles back just a bit from the force of Iron Tail.

"Tyranitar! Come on, counter with Bite!" Alain orders.

Tyranitar swoops down at Pikachu and bites him. Pikachu cries out in anger and pain, and then zaps Tyranitar in retaliation using Thunderbolt.

Tyranitar falls to its knees, letting Pikachu loose. Pikachu puts some distance between himself and Tyranitar, before spinning around to face it.

"Pika pika!" Pikachu growls, pawing the earth.

"Tyranitar, use Sandstorm!" Tyranitar lets loose a torrent of sand that Pikachu jumps up onto the higher tiers of the canyon to escape Sandstorm.

"Tyranitar, Dark Pulse!"

"Pikachu!" Ash cries.

"Pika!?" Pikachu is struck hard by Dark Pulse. He flips head-over-heals and slams into Ash.

"What, a Dark Pulse!? Hope both Ash and Pikachu are okay after that collision..." The announcer says.

Ash sits up to find Pikachu in his lap, fainted. Ash stands up, then holds up Pikachu so the ref can see.

"Okay, thanks. Pikachu is unable to battle, so Tyranitar is the winner!"

Ash places Pikachu on the platform nearby. "Thanks, Pikachu. Rest up."

Ash then shakes off the pain from being hit with Pikachu, then catches his breath. Ash nods and smiles.

In the stands, Bonnie and Serena are sorrowed by Pikachu's defeat.

"No way! Pikachu lost?" Bonnie whines.

"Well...I guess it had to happen at some point." Serena replies. "The battles with Weavile and Bisharp took a lot of it Pikachu."

"Good point."

"Yeah, isn't Alain so awesome!?" Mairin exclaims.

"Sure...but don't count Ash out of this yet..." Clemont laughs in response.

"Course not." Mairin says. "I wonder what Ash will use against Tyranitar..."

"Whatever it is...it'll probably burn through a couple of Alain's Pokémon."

"Yeah...and then he gets down to Charizard and it burns through the rest of Ash's Pokémon." Trevor groans.

"Maybe..." Tierno considers.

Back on the battlefield...

I have to use either one now...so, I choose you! Ash brings out Noivern. "Noivern, use Boomburst!"

"VERN!" Noivern screeches as it releases massive, explosive sound waves from its ears. They hit Tyranitar hard, slamming it to the ground.

"Dragon Claw!"

Tyranitar struggles to get up as Noivern dives in with glowing green claws that swipe Tyranitar hard. Tyranitar roars in pain and collapses.

"Tyranitar...no!" Alain cries. "Use...use...Thunder Fang!"

"ELECTRIC TYPES HAVE NO EFFECT ON DRAGON TYPES!" Ash screams, remembering his battle against Clair in Blackthorn City, when he learned this. "Noivern, dodge it anyways and use Supersonic!"

Noivern opens up its mouth, unleashing a the move supersonic, smashing Tyranitar back to the ground.

"Tar..." Tyranitar moans, covering its ears.

"NO TYRANITAR! Come on, get up and use Ice Fang!"

"Oh no, that is effective." Ash panics, in the same fashion as Iris would at the presence of an Ice type. "Noivern, finish this with another Dragon Claw!"

As Noivern swoops down at Tyranitar, Tyranitar bites at it with glowing blue fangs. Noivern dodges and then lands Dragon Claw hard. Then, Noivern uses Boomburst, smashing Tyranitar into the ground.

"No, Tyranitar!" Alain shakes his head, knowing that it's over...

Tyranitar faints. Ash smiles and Noivern cheers.

"Tyranitar is unable to battle, Noivern wins!" The ref declares.

"Thank you, Tyranitar, return." Alain returns the fainted Pokémon, looking at the ground.

"And...now that half of one Trainer's team is unable to battle, we will have a field change..." The League PA announces.

The canyon battlefield sinks back down into the stadium, and then a second battlefield surfaces...

"...and our final battlefield of the Kalos League is a simple ground battlefield!"

Noivern continues to hover overhead as the new battlefield arrives and Pikachu wakes up. Pikachu then runs over to Ash's side.

"Hey buddy..." Ash reaches down and rubs his partner's head. "Glad you're awake!"

RUSTBORO CITY, HOENN REGION

While on a Hoenn Grand Festival journey, Dawn stops at a Pokémon Center to watch Ash battle in the Kalos League. Dawn takes Piplup by the wings, spins around and around, smiling and laughing.

"Ash is going to win it, Piplup! Can you believe it?"

"Piplup!"

"I have to call him afterwards to congratulate Ash!" Dawn decides, sitting back down and continuing to watch the battle. However, she can't sit still because she's nervous? Too excited? Dawn can't tell.

Oh Ash... Dawn smiles and blushes, something interesting developing inside...

LUMIOSE CITY, KALOS REGION

"Let's see what Alain's fourth Pokémon will be..." The PA inquires.

"Come on...use Charizard!" Mairin pleads.

"Doesn't seem likely yet." Shauna counters.

"Why not?" Mairin asks Shauna.

"Well...if Alain brings out his powerhouse too early...let me just say that three of Ash's four remaining Pokémon are the strongest of his Pokémon, besides Pikachu." Shauna explains.

"Right. There's Goodra...who knows Ice Beam...and can one-hit-KO an opponent with Bide." Sawyer adds.

"There's Talonflame." Tierno includes. "Maybe not one of the three most powerful, but it's a force to be reckoned with."

"Yeah...there's also Noivern." Trevor says. "And...as you can see...it's pretty strong."

"Pretty strong for a Pokémon whom Ash hasn't used in that many battles." Serena adds. "This is Noivern's second battle in a League battle."

"Right, it battled against my Salamence." Sawyer tells Mairin. "That ended in a double knockout. Also, it battled against Wulfric, though it didn't do so well..."

"And finally, Ash-Greninja." Bonnie says.

"Ash-Greninja?" Mairin asks.

"It's...well, you'll see..." The others reply in unison.

Back on the battlefield...

Alain brings out another Poké Ball. "Okay, Unfezant, come on out!"

"And Alain's fourth Pokémon is a Unfezant!" The PA says. "Hmm...this could be interesting. Noivern will have a big size advantage, let's see how Alain deals with this."

"Noivern, go get your lunch!" Ash calls out, laughing.

CIANWOOD CITY, JOHTO REGION

Iris smiles and shakes her head. "Should've caught a female Unfezant, that male is going to be too slow!"

"Axew ew ew." Axew agrees.

UNSPECIFIED LOCATION, HOENN REGION

Cilan sighs, shaking his head. The Pokémon Connoisseur smiles, realizing something.

"Well, well, well, I wonder how this will play out." Cilan chuckles. "Noivern is going to definitley have the advantage here."

"Pansage pan." Pansage agrees.

LUMIOSE CITY, KALOS REGION

In the stands...

"Wow, so Ash has a Noivern too." Alexa comments.

"You have a Noivern?" Clemont asks, Alexa nods.

"As well as Helioptile and a Gogoat."

"That's so cool!" Bonnie comments.

"Thanks!"

On the battlefield...

Noivern swoops down upon Unezant and takes it in its jaws. Noivern then flies up into the air, really fast. Unfezant screams in terror in Noivern's mouth.

"No, Unfezant!" Alain cries in panic.

"Now, Noivern, drop Unfezant and use Dragon Claw!" Ash commands.

"NOI!" Noivern screeches as it drops Noivern and then slams it with its glowing green claws.

"Fez..." Unfezant crashes into the ground, fainted.

In the stands...

"Whoa, what a quick battle!" Sawyer exclaims.

"Agreed. Wouldn't be surprised if Ash could win this without getting any other Pokémon knocked out."

Sawyer nods as Ash switches out Noivern...

Back on the battlefield...

"Noivern, you are a great battler. Get a good rest, for now, I may need you later..." Ash returns Noivern. His heart rate increases, the excitement and anticipation getting to the point of overwhelming. I...I'm just two Pokémon away from winning the Kalos League!

NUVEMA TOWN, UNOVA REGION

A bunch of Ash's Unovan friends are at Pr. Juniper's lab to watch Ash's battle in the finals of the Kalos League.

"Is Ash seriously about to win a League?" Cameron asks Pr. Juniper.

"Looks like it." She replies.

"I'm beginning to wonder if Kanto isn't so much of a 'Boonies' region after all..." Trip wonders aloud.

"Whatever the case, Ash is so much stronger since when he traveled in Unova..." Bianca says.

"Definitely." Agrees Virgil, Stephan and Luke.

LUMIOSE CITY, KALOS REGION

"Metagross, I choose you." Alain brings out the Iron Leg Pokémon.

"Then...I choose you, Talonflame!" Ash brings out Talonflame, re-giving him the advantage in this battle.

"Alain brings out Metagross and Ash chooses Talonflame...this could help propel the battle back into Ash's favor." The PA announcer declares.

In the stands...

"Right now...I don't know what to think..." Mairin says, slumping in her seat a bit.

"Well...Alain has only two Pokémon left, Metagross and Charizard, while Ash still has four: Noivern, Talonflame, Goodra and Greninja." Clemont points out. "It's obviously Ash's battle from here on out."

"Oh, I wouldn't be so sure about that..." Mairin replies.

"But of course Ash is going to win!" Serena declares. "I mean, it's pretty obvious. It's Ash we're talking about!"

"Just wondering...how'd y'all meet Ash, anyways?" Mairin asks.

"Well, I met Ash and along with his Unova traveling companions in the Decolore Islands. I traveled with Ash until Lumiose City." Alexa says, starting it out.

"At the Santalune Gym, where I'm the Gym Leader. Well...also accidentally by a water fountain." Alexa's sister, Viola, says.

"Bonnie and I met Ash after I'd gotten kicked out of my Gym...and Ash's challenge had gotten rejected by Clembot...long story..." Clemont explains. "After a couple of misadventures in Lumiose City, we've been traveling together ever since."

"Ahhh....so y'all we're there when Garchomp went crazy?" Mairin asks.

Bonnie and Clemont nod in confirmation.

"I've known Ash since we were little..." Serena says. "We reunited after Ash's first challenge at Santalune."

"And Serena has a crush on Ash." Bonnie says.

"BONNIE!" Serena screams in embarrassment.

"What can I say...?"

"Anyways, Tierno, Shauna and I met Ash and his friends at Professor Sycamore's summer camp." Trevor says.

"And, I came across Ash at Valerie's Gym in Laverre City." Sawyer concludes.

"Those sound like really cool stories." Mairin says. "I'll tell you about my journeys another time...but now, we should probably focus on the battle again..."

"You're probably right." Clemont agrees.

Back on the battlefield...

"Metagross, use Hammer Arm!" Alain commands.

"Talonflame, dodge it and attack hard with Brave Bird!" Ash tells Talonflame.

Metagross raises a glowing arm to strike Talonflame, who swoops in, surrounded by blue flames. The two moves collide. Metagross tries to overcome Talonflame, who pushes hard against Hammer Arm.

"You can do it, Talonflame!"

"TALON!" Talonflame's flames glow brighter as the Pokémon pushes harder against Metagross.

"Meta..." Metagross groans, straining to knock Talonflame away.

"Talonflame, use Ember from close up!"

"Huh? Come on Metagross, throw it off you!"

"Flame!" Talonflame screeches as it unleashes Ember into Metagross' face.

Metagross shakes its head and knocks away Talonflame. Then, Metagross grabs Talonflame, and slams it into the ground.

"No! Talonflame!" Ash cries out.

"Talonflame..." Talonflame groans, knocked out. Though distressed at the lost of his Pokémon, Ash can see that Metagross isn't doing so well either.

"Talonflame is unable to battle, Metagross is the winner." The ref declares.

Ash sighs and then returns Talonflame. "Thanks, Talonflame, you battled great. Now...time for my next Pokémon...let's go, Goodra!"

"GOOO!" Goodra roars as it makes its second appearance in the Kalos League.

Ash collapses to one knee and winces. He's nearly out of breath and sweaty.

"Pikachu pikapi?" You alright, Ash?

"I'm fine Pikachu." Ash confirms, looking to his partner, and then at Metagross. Ash half-smirks and stands up. "Let's finish this...Goodra, use Dragon Pulse!"

"Metal Claw!"

Dragon Pulse smashes back Metal Claw, causing Metagross to spin out of control.

"Keep it up, Goodra. Add in Ice Beam!"

Goodra unleashes Ice Beam at Metagross, stopping it from spinning it and freezing the Pokémon in a large chunk of ice.

"No, Metagross!" Alain screams in panic.

In the stands...

Mairin cries and hides her face behind her hands and knees. "This can't be good!"

"Mairin, what's wrong?" Bonnie asks her new best friend.

Mairin just groans. Bonnie pats Mairin's shoulder, then turns her attention back to the battle.

Back on the battlefield...

"Goodra, time to end this!" Ash calls out. "Use Dragon Pulse!"

"DRA!" Goodra thrashes Metagross with Dragon Pulse, breaking the icy cage, and putting a good dent in Metagross' face.

"Yikes! Sorry about that, Alain." Ash apologizes.

"It's fine. This is a battle...I'll take care of it later." Alain responds as Metagross collapses. Alain looks over to see his Pokémon unable to battle. "Oh well, you did great Metagross."

"Meta...gross..." Metagross moans and groans in pain.

"Metagross is unable to battle, Goodra is the winner!" The ref declares, then looks to Alain. "Select your final Pokémon."

"AND ASH KETCHUM HAS BROUGHT ALAIN TO HIS FINAL Pokémon!" The announcer shouts. "OH MY GOODNESS! IT'S LOOKING LIKE THIS IS GOING TO BE AN EASY WIN!"

"Charizard, let's end this!" Alain shouts, bring out his partner.

Ash grits his teeth. He knew that Charizard would be brought out eventually...but now is probably not the best time.

"Charizard, Flamethrower!"

"Dragon Breath!"

Flamethrower and Dragon Breath collides over the center of the battlefield. Dragon Breath overpowers Flamethrower and sends both attacks hurling back towards Charizard.

"No, Charizard!" Alain says, as Charizard is hit hard. "Use Dragon Claw!"

"Ice Beam!"

Charizard flies at Goodra with glowing green claws while the Dragon Pokémon blasts it with Ice Beam. The two Pokémon collide and the moves cause an exlosion!

"Goodra!"

"Charizard!"

In the stands...

"Come on, double-KO!" Tierno says, crossing his fingers.

"It has to be..." Sawyer confirms. "There's no way Charizard could survive that."

"My Charizard maybe..." Trevor groans in despair.

"Hey, it's alright, Trevor." Shauna says, putting a hand on Trevor's shoulder and smiling at him.

Trevor smiles as well. "Thanks, Shauna."

Down below, the dust clears, revealing a fainted Goodra...and a weakened, but still conscious Charizard.

"WHAT!?" Mairin and Bonnie exclaims in surprise.

"Chespin!?" Huh!?

"Dedenne!?" How!?

Back on the battlefield...

"No, Goodra." Ash shouts as there's a blue flash of light from his belt. "Huh!?"

"Goodra is unable to battle...Charizard is unable to battle..." The ref's eyes widen upon seeing a certain Pokémon standing in front of Ash. "Okay..."

"Looks like Ash's Greninja knows what's up!" The PA states. "What a Pokémon!"

"Okay, you ready for this, Greninja?" Ash asks.

"Gre!" Greninja confirms.

"Alright...let's combine our power...and become stronger!" Ash shouts as the two activates the Bond Phenomenon.

In the stands...

"That's Ash-Greninja." Clemont informs Mairin.

"Oh...it looks pretty cool."

CIANWOOD CITY, JOHTO REGION

"Wh-what i-is th-that?" Iris gasps, blinking.

"Ash Ketchum's Greninja has again changed appearance!" The TV commentator exclaims. "Now, we've seen this be a 'death' sentence, as it were, for most Trainers. Ketchum has this battle in the bag. Go ahead, cue the fireworks, confetti. Give him the trophy, start the victory parade. It's all over for Alain!"

Iris smiles and nods. "Well, Ash, you've become what you've always wanted..."

CERULEAN CITY, KANTO REGION

"Whoa...I mean, Mega Evolution is one thing...and pretty cool..." Misty sighs, referring to the new found power that her Gyarados has now that she got it a Mega Stone, and herself a Key Stone. "This is something..."

LUMIOSE CITY, KALOS REGION

"Okay, if you're going to do that..." Alain raises his Mega Ring and touches the Key Stone. "Key Stone, respond to my heart. Charizard, surpass evolution. MEGA EVOLVE!"

Charizard roars as it changes form to Mega Charizard X, a Dragon-Fire dual type Pokémon.

"And Alain's Charizard has also changed form!" The PA exclaims. "This should be an interesting battle. A Mega battle with Giga results, for sure!"

"Greninja, Water Shuriken!"

"Charizard, use Dragon Claw to knock away Water Shuriken! Then use Dragon Tail!"

Charizard knocks away the first Water Shuriken, but they just keep coming. One after another. They appear to infinite. Where does Greninja get all of this power?

Double team...then use Hydro Pump!

Greninja rushes Charizard, who starts to use Dragon Tail. That's when Greninja jumps into the air and makes twenty copies of itself, surrounding Charizard. Greninja then uses Hydro Pump, which soaks Charizard, who roars in complaint.

"Charizard, knock away the copies using Dragon Tail!"

Charizard destroys the copies with its glowing green tail. However, where's Greninja?

Greninja uses Night Slash and slams down upon Charizard. Charizard reels from the attack and uses Flamethrower. Greninja casually dodges it, and then uses Cut, to bat Flamethrower back at Charizard.

Charizard manages to slam Greninja into the ground with Dragon Tail. Greninja struggles to get up, only to find Charizard baring down on top of him.

"Charizard, finish this with Blast Burn!"

"Mega Water Shuriken!"

Greninja removes the shuriken off of his back, which begins to grow as Greninja uses it to block Blast Burn. Then Greninja jumps back, standing up and holding the shuriken over his head. It starts to spin, glow with a fiery aura and grow to an enormous size.

"Now, throw it!" Ash commands.

"No, Charizard!" Alain screams.

Time seems to slow down. The Mega Fire Shuriken spins at Charizard. Charizard roars, and tries to dodge it. The shuriken nails Charizard in the chest, flinging it back, hard.

Time reverts back to normal as Charizard suddenly slams into the battlefield wall. As it slides to the ground, Charizard reverts back to its normal form. It has been fainted!

Ash smiles, jumps and punches the air as Greninja reverts back to normal form. The two high five, and then Ash hugs Pikachu tightly.

"We won!" Ash says to his Pokémon, tears of joy flowing from his eyes.

"Charizard is unable to battle. Greninja is the winner. Therefore, the winner is...huh?" The ref looks up at a helicopter hovering above the stadium.

"PEOPLE OF LUMIOSE CITY!" A voice booms from a megaphone. "COOPERATE AND NO ONE GETS HURT."

 

Notice, how I don't just overhaul one ship. I realized something when writing this, is that when those certain girls are watching Ash battle, those feels of compassion and love are going to spring up in some way. Iris and Serena were the most obvious, as were Dawn and Annabel (but the latter two only showed up once, while Iris and Serena were recurring characters throughout the one-shot). May...you kind of just have to think about it. Lillie, Mallow and Lana...at the time I did not know those ships with Ash existed. But yeah, there you go, as many ships as possible covered!

Also, really wish that Ash had won. And that Iris had made a reappearance to maybe help stop Zygarde. And...maybe she could've seen the way Bonnie healed Zygarde from the Mega Evolution energy, and stated that the girl had the potential of a Dragon Master. Sure, it's a stretch...but, who cares?
