If you've read/watched Madoka Magica or not, you can still decide.

Which art style for Kyubey do you prefer, Puella Magi or Mahou Shoujo? Here are pictures for those who haven't seen one of or both of the art styles.

In the anime, Kyubey's face never changes, which gives more to proof of him not showing emotion ever, but in the manga, Kyubey is portrayed as a lot more innocent looking, which could contribute more to the "plot twist" of sorts (although I wouldn't know because I watched the anime first).

I prefer Kyubey's Mahou Shoujo art style because I like the contrast between when he seems innocent and when he seems evil, whereas in the anime, he looks a bit creepy all the time, which is kind of a foreshadowing.

Also, I like his art style more in the manga because he looks cuter (I think Puella Magi's Kyubey looks cute, too, but it kinda gives me the creeps). ^-^

I'm more of a fan of the Puella Magi style due to the foreshadowing you mentioned. When Kyubey's plot twist was revealed, it made sense to me that he would appear more emotionless. The foreshadowing of Kyubey's true nature was done very nicely and subtly, and the Puella Magi style is what helped make it that way.

I actually really like both versions of him! He's adorable and very much more likable in the manga compared to the emotionlessness he portrays in the anime. But either way Kyuubey is Kyuubey and he is an evil mastermind!
