Staff Post Lake Valor Updates & Changes v2

April 15th

- Trophies have been renamed, they are now called Medals. This is the way it was before we moved to Xenforo, and it definitely makes more sense.

An update from the Development Team

Now for something a little different, we're going to give you an insight into what we're up to behind the scenes and how we're progressing.

- Development is progressing nicely on our brand new theme, which we previewed last month. The theme is almost ready for Patron testing. We have no timeframe for when this will start yet, but you'll be the first to know.

- Once Patron testing has concluded, we plan to open it up to the rest of the Donators. Remember, early access to new features and themes is a Patron perk, so be sure to donate if you want be involved as soon as it happens!

- We are working with a third party to fix the Discord Bot. We apologise for the inconvenience, but it is currently out of our hands. We hope to have the Bot back online as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience!

- Are there any bugs we need to work on that are inconveniencing your experience at LV? Let us know, and we'll get to fixing them as soon as we can.

 

April 18th

Hi everyone, we've got some good news and some bad news. I'm gonna start with the bad news.

- We will be dropping support for the following themes: Palette Town (and its variants), Lake Valor and Rainbow Rocket's Hideout.

What this means: We will no longer be attending to any bugs that are specific to these themes, and we will also no longer be making any adjustments or improvements to these themes.

Why this has happened: These themes are incredibly difficult to work with. They were created at a stage where our skills were lesser and therefore they are not even nearly coded up to the standard that we deem acceptable. Therefore...

- Valcadia (our brand new theme) is almost ready for Patron testing, then Donator testing shortly after. Once we have squashed out the bugs and made any important changes, this theme will go live for all users to enjoy.

Valcadia has: Greatly improved mobile optimisation and support, improvements to the Pokémon Catcher, a design friendly to old and new users, a much sleeker, cleaner design and plenty more improvements that are still in the pipelines.

With Valcadia, we plan to recreate some of your old favourite themes in the new style. Keep an eye out as Valcadia will release with a light mode, for users who prefer a light theme to a dark.

 

April 27th

- Fixed a bug where certain users could not see profile covers. Now every user can see profile covers. Please note only VIP and above can edit their own profile cover.

 

April 29th

- After carefully reviewing, we've decided to change the Daily Login Bonus from 10 PokéPoints to 5. We feel this number will help bring some more balance, as a LOT of PokéPoints are being distributed right now. We don't want an economy collapse, after all!

5 Points per day is still a good amount and much better than the former zero, so we hope you will enjoy the bonus.

 

May 18th

We're happy to announce that the Social Team is now an official part of LV's Staff. To reflect this change, they will appear on the Staff Team Page and Staff Online, additionally they have their own space on the sidebar of our Discord server.

If you see one online and you've got a post you really want to see on our social media accounts, drop them a message!

 

May 19th

Now, most of us don't care about the UK's Royal Wedding, for whatever reason we may have. But that isn't to say we can't have some fun with the celebration here on LV.

Until tomorrow, Nidoking & Nidoqueen can be found in the wild across LV for the first time ever. They are very rare and hard to catch, so seek them out whilst you still can, to get a great new addition to your collection! Who knows, maybe one will be shiny?

 

May 21st

I want to preface this by saying yes, we are still working on Valcadia's bugs. Some are beyond our scope however, so we are working with external forces to get them all fixed. We'll be keeping you posted. For now, I have a new feature to unveil.

Pokémon now Swarm!

Every week, every month, a new Pokémon will Swarm. This means it becomes more common (though not necessarily easier to catch).

Sometimes, Swarms will introduce new and (usually) extremely Rare Pokémon. This weeks Swarm is Heatran! This is the first time Heatran has ever been available to catch. It will provide a tough challenge.

Due to this new feature, we've introduced a Swarming Pokémon sidebar on Valcadia. This will easily show you which Pokémon is currently swarming.

We've made an update to our Banned Users List. We feel it is more appropriate to only list Permanently Banned Users, so it has been updated to reflect this.

Why? Users who were temporarily banned we sincerely hope can and will return to our community and improve upon the mistakes they have made. We feel that publicly naming them on a thread could potentially hinder their progress going forward.

Since Permanently Banned users are no longer a part of our community, we feel it is important to list what happened and why, so that hopefully others don't make the same mistakes as them, as they will be banned. We also wish to be transparent with you all so there's no confusion about why someone has been removed from our community, sometimes for the safety of our users which we take very seriously.

When a temporarily banned member returns, they are able to tell you why they were banned, if they choose to. Permanently banned users obviously cannot.

May 29th

Over the past few days we've been rolling out lots of bug fixes and improvements to the Valcadia theme.

• Improved breadcrumb.
• Improved view on tablets.
• Improved prefixes (still a wip).
• Most bugs fixed on all devices (still some more to go).
• The New Posts sidebar now appears on tablets and mobile devices.
• Many behind the scenes changes that improve the theme on different devices.

We're still working on even more improvements, and bug fixes. The Edit bug is one of our top priorities, so we hope to have that fixed soon.

 

June 4th

VIP has received a slight discount in the PokePoints store to account for changes to the daily login bonus.

 

June 5th

A few smaller updates. But who doesn't love those?

• Made several small changes around Valcadia.
• Added a Nintendo Switch FC profile field as suggested - thank you @Arc1Dragon for the suggestion!
• Skype profile field remove (no one uses Skype, c'mon).
• Identified several bugs on Safari Browser - highly recommend using a different Browser for the time being. We're working on fixes.

 

June 8th

Shaymin is now swarming until next Friday. Get one whilst it's still common!

 

June 14th

• The max Trainer Level is now Level 100. Your Trainer Level will affect what you can buy at the LV Shop.
• Introduced a page detailing what Trainer Levels are and the benefits.
• Added a new section to your profiles 'About Me' with information about your Trainer Level.

We're still making adjustments to Trainer Levels and how they work, and the benefits you receive from levelling up. We hope you'll enjoy this new feature and make the most out of it!
