Here you can post lateral thinking puzzles that you made, or found somewhere. You can also attempt to solve others puzzles. Credit the source if you did not make it! Here is mine that I made: Three friends were at a restaurant. Find out if each one ate either a hamburger, a salad, or nachos. - Hairy was not a vegetarian. Hagred loves cheese. Dumbdore ate a hamburger. Hagred was feeling full Hairy was a vegan Dumbdore did not eat the hamburger Hagred was good friends with Dumbdore Dumbdore was good friends with Harry
A three-centimeter long elastic band is attached at one end. An ant crawls on it at a speed of 1 cm / min. After a minute, the tape is stretched by three inches. The ant crawls on with its speed, and after a minute, the band is stretched again by 3 cm and so on, until the ant has reached the end of the band. Suppose the tape can be stretched so far - how long does it take for the poor, totally confused ant to finally reach the end? Got it from: http://www.hirnwindungen.de/raetsel2/hirn_ameise.html. I found out the solution, can you? Spoiler: Solution The ant is done in 11 minutes. Here's the 'full' solution, but it's poorly translated cuz why not. The ant first lays 1/3 of the distance, then 1/6, then 1/9, etc., so altogether after n minutes: the sum [from n = 1 to z] of 1 / (3n) - intended as a sum sign, where z represents the total time sought. So the sum [of n = 1 to z] of 1 / n = 3 has to be changed! For z = 10, the sum equals 2.928, for z = 11 the sum equals 3.0198, so the ant is ready in 11 minutes.
