I figured if I'm going to get into competitive battling, a good place to start would be to get my prospective team rated by you guys, so here goes nothing right?

    Mega Absol @Absolite (Duh! :P)
    Super Luck - Magic Bounce
    Adamant - 252 Atk, 252 Spd, 4 HP
    1. Swords Dance
    2. Play Rough
    3. Sucker Punch
    4. Fire Blast
I've been a fan of nonconventional Pokémon for a long time now, and so when Absol got a Mega, I was pretty excited. I really like Magic Bounce as an ability, and I love the offensive power of Absol. His main goal is to hopefully force a switch on a hazard setting Pokémon, giving him a free turn to use Swords Dance, and then Sucker Punch away. Play Rough is there to hit Fighting types and others that resist Dark. Fire Blast is the move I'm iffy on, I'm open to suggestions there.

    Lilligant @Life Orb
    Own Tempo
    Modest - 252 Sp. Atk, 252 Spd, 4 HP
    1. Quiver Dance
    2. Petal Dance
    3. Sleep Powder
    4. Aromatherapy
With Lillgant, I was wanting something that could come in, put something to sleep, and then get a few boosts. I know I'm taking a risk with a mono-attacking set, but I would think that after a couple of boosts she'd be hitting so hard it hardly matters. Aromatherapy gets the last slot because it may be useful on a situational basis.

    Tentacruel @Black Sludge
    Clear Body
    Bold - 252 Sp. Def, 252 HP, 4 Def.
    1. Scald
    2. Rapid Spin
    3. Ice Beam
    4. Toxic
I hate entry hazards, I really do, so my one OU Pokémon has to be Tentacruel. I like its ability to take a hit and either inflict burn or poison. Max EVs in Sp. Def to really sponge those hits, but I'm not so sure I should put my EVs in Defense in order to balance it out and make it more balanced. Ice Beam is there for coverage.

    Mienshao @Choice Scarf
    Regenerator
    Jolly - 252 Atk, 252 Spd. 4 HP
    1. Hi Jump Kick (Drain Punch?)
    2. U-Turn
    3. Stone Edge
    4. Knock Off
Mienshao I really like as a fast scout. His defenses aren't very good, so I love Regenerator on him so if he does manage to survive a hit, he can get out of there and I can use him again. Hi Jump Kick I'm not so sure about, since I don't like the risk associated with it, but it's so much more powerful than Drain Punch. But the recovery though... I'll let you guys decide. xD

    Granbull @Choice Band
    Intimidate
    Adamant - 252 Atk, 252 HP, 4 Spd
    1. Play Rough
    2. Crunch
    3. Earthquake
    4. Brick Break
I didn't really put much thought into him though. He was a part of the first NU team I ever made on Pokémon Showdown though, so I want to bring him into X/Y. I know Fairy-type is solid defensively, so I feel comfortable letting him come in and just hit things as hard as he can. All 4 moves are chosen for coverage, although I'm always willing to listen to suggestions.

    Sigilyph @Flame Orb
    Magic Guard
    Bold - 252 Def, 252 Spd, 4 HP
    1. Cosmic Power
    2. Psycho Shift
    3. Stored Power
    4. Roost
Incredibly basic and cliche, I know, but I love this set and really want to try it for myself. If you're unaware, the whole goal is to set up defensive boosts and try to create an unkillable machine capable of healing itself. Then you sweep with Stored Power! EVs are there to help him tank physical hits better.

Fire Blast with an Adamant Nature was the first thing I noticed. If you're using Fire Blast and Sucker Punch together you can't use Adamant nature because that lowers Special Attack.

Getting locked into Petal Dance is terrible; a lot of types resist Grass-type moves and with Sap Sipper Gogoat running around, it isn't very safe to be doing that. I also would never run Aromatherapy on a set-up sweeper, of all things. One rule I found pretty useful is to make the Cleric and Set-up Sweepers completely separate, you should have another attacking move if you're setting up.

Tentacruel looks good, I just feel like Calm Nature is better if you're only investing in Special Defense (which is what I'd recommend)

I also like Mienshao, I'd say Drain Punch though xD

Granbull is weak to Bullet Punch now, which is extremely common. It'd be fine if you had something that resisted it very well, but it looks like everything else would also be hit pretty hard, other than Sigilyph

Sigilyph is very cliche with this set xD I found a big problem with it though: You need to take out Dark-types before using it, or you can be checked completely.

Overall, I think you should look at synergy a lot more, and consider your big defensive cores for what they are. For example, let's say you wanted a core built around Granbull. She's weak to Poison and Steel, so you want something that resists those moves. Lucky, your options can be Forretress and Scizor, which means you build even stronger cores (the smaller the better). Say you choose Scizor, now you need something to counter the fire weakness. My fav choice is Flash Fire Chandelure, but you can use just about anything that resists Fire very well. Since Chandy is weak to Dark and Ghost, a Normal-type and a Dark-type would finish off the team. I'm not saying to completely throw away your team, but you should look into some slightly better choices for synergy. If Scizor or MegaLuc set up on you with just one Swords Dance, you'll be done, you don't have a lot of options to handle them.

This is a good team for a first-time competitive team though!
