It's inevitable that before a game releases, information that the developer didn't intend will find its way onto the internet...and that after a game releases, information that the developer didn't show as part of the pre-release information will be plastered across the internet. So how much do you want to know about a game before you play it? How do you feel when rumours you see turn out to be the real deal? Do leaks annoy you? How about spoilers? Is iit better to know everything so that you can make an informed decision about your purchase, or nothing at all so that you can go in without expectations and enjoy the surprises?
I prefer not to look at rumors, leaks, etc., but this is the Internet so I often see them even if I don't want to.
I more or less ignore leaks and rumors, unless is officially confirmed somewhere that is true I treat it like it may not even happen till confirmed. I generally try to avoid leaks and rumors as well mainly to avoid disappointment later since something that sounds really good might not even happen when the game is released. I don't want to know everything about a game I'm gonna buy (I'm looking at you Nintendo when it came to ORAS) where's the fun in that really, although is not always easy to avoid all the stuff flying around since is so easy now to spread info, true or not.
I... actually don't know. The only time I see "spoilers" is on YT when I watch some of my favorite people playing games that I already think I won't be playing, such as Last Year, Let's Go, and various other games that I don't really care for when I hear about them. And if I can avoid such spoilers, well, that that's find with me. I doubt I'll play many games, so I just watch them anyways. I don't mind, though leaks are slightly annoying as they're released before the game, but there's nothing to do about it. I guess I'm just saying I know nothing until it's on YT. Heck, I managed to avoid most recent games, like God of War 4, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and even the recent Pokémon games, without problem.
It’s practically unavoidable at this point, but I try to avoid as many spoilers as possible. To me, it’s not as fun playing a game for the first time if you already know so much information about it.
I don’t actually care at this point. I usually look up walkthrough guides because I’m so trash at video games. I look up spoilers on games I’m interested in. If I don’t look up spoilers, then I’m not interested enough. It’s also to make sure I don’t die on the first level.
I find it exciting to learn about games before they come out--Seeing bits of the world, new mechanics, new places, and new characters makes me eager to play the game.
Leaks, rumors, and spoilers for games always irk me. It’s like people enjoy ruining the surprise for others. Basic story information for reviews and trailers is fine though. Gotta inform the viewer about the game somehow.
