What if game freak actually let some fans help with the game? Such as sending in designs for new Pokémon and such? I'd really like this since there are some great Fakemon's out there which really deserve to be in the games. I doubt this would ever happen but I'd like to see this!

Maybe if it was some sort of contest where the winner chose the name of a new move or something, similar to how Draco Meteor was designed by a fan and won a contest, but having people send in all their idea that would potentially be used is pretty unfeasible given the amount of people who like Pokémon and draw their own. Then on top of that if an idea is used they run the chance of that person expecting royalties and shit unless it's very clearly stated by the company that once sent it becomes their intellectual property. If you try to send ideas to a game company they explicitly tell you they don't accept unsolicited requests, probably for that reason, it's not even worth the legal fees to get the terms drawn up. At most I think they would see fan-art and possibly copy some aspects for their own designs, but nothing so direct, nothing they would have to (or would anyway) give credit for. From every indication they have plenty of their own ideas left anyhow.

So..maybe a held contest like was done before, but never outright asking for people to help them. Don't think that would be done and I don't think it should either.

I've heard some video games have actually done contests for people to participate in on making a new character. Some of the designs looked pretty neat, I guess. Although I did wonder why they chose what they did, at times. But who knows? *Le shrug*

But as for Pokémon doing it? I think it could either be a good or bad idea. I mean, they did it with cards before. Where you had to draw the first three starters of Generation 3, submit it, and the winners would have their drawing on a legit Pokémon card. But on the other hand, creating a new Pokémon via contest could be interesting................

They'd have so many entries it'd be hard for them to look at all of them.
Capcom did this on one of the first megaman games, let kids draw Robot Masters. Heh...

There is SO MANY fanart on the internet, and some of them are so damned good... It would be a good thing if GameFreak looked into the world of fanart some more, it'll help them making more creative Pokémon!
