From the minimalistic MS-DOS days to the likes of Linux's various open source releases, there have been many types of GUI and command line operating systems in the past 30+ years, that thing that allows the common joe to interact with computers in a human-readable language.

Where do your allegiances lie? Apple's OS X? Maybe with Window's 7? Do you still use Windows '97?

Tell us what OS you love using and why!

I use Windows 7 at the moment. It's reliable, and pretty nice. I've used Windows 8 in college, but I don't think it's better than 7. And I'm not a fan of Apple. Not that it's bad, but I don't work well with it.

I currently use Windows 8.1, but that is only because it was pre-installed on my computer. I personally don't think that it's bad, I just think that they changed things that in my opinion, really didn't need to be changed. If I could I would downgrade to Windows 7 in a heartbeat. I've always used Windows, just because it is more widely supported than Mac when it comes to my line of work. When Windows 10 comes out, I will definitely be picking it up. From what I've seen of it, it is essentially Windows 8 without its flaws or glitches, just like how Windows 7 was essentially just a better version of Vista that was actually functional.

I'm running a 64 bit Windows 7 operating system, and I couldn't be any happier with my computer's performance. I'm a Windows guy mainly because Microsoft tends to make their stuff more compatible with other things than Apple does. I've used Macs before, and they just don't cut it for me.

I'm on OS X Yosemite and loving it despite my initial WiFi problems, which I've luckily found fixes/workarounds for. OS X is so sleek and beautiful; I just cannot ever go back to Windows. The moment I opened up my MacBook and saw those crisp fonts upon installation I knew it was meant to be.

Have a Windows 7 Professional partition that I downloaded for games but it's.. pretty much never used nowadays. D8

I'm currently using windows 8.1, but would love to go back to Windows 7. Windows 7 was a lot easier to use for me, and it didn't glitch out as much.
Windows 8 I have a lot of problems with such as the wireless adapter not working correctly, not being to adjust the brightness sometimes, and the screen not working after I try waking it up from sleep. I know these are problems with the operating system itself since I've seen other users struggle with these problems.

I'm using Windows 7 and I have no intentions to change that any time soon. I really like it as it is, I very rarely have a problem with it, and Windows 8 just doesn't work for me. My mother's laptop has 8, but I really can't work on it at all.

Windows 7 at the moment. It's the best thing next to XP. WIndows 8/8.1 just looks awful, not sure if I could ever adapt to it. Maybe on a phone, but not a PC.

Windows 8 (Recently upgraded to 8.1), and I love it. I don't know what you other people are talking about - This thing's run beautifully since the day I plugged it in! (Save for the few disasters that have occured, all my fault, though! :P)

Personally, I don't plan on upgrading any time soon, but I might get Windows 10 if it turns out to be good. :)

Personally Im currently using windows 8.1. Its overall a decent os. However I dislike how apps process runs in the background after you close them. Also I dislike how the they removed the aero glass look i loved that. "You can customize to get it back though" But by far I dislike the push to force us to use our microsoft accounts and one drive syncing automatically. Most people would probably disagree about the mc accs and one drive but I like my privacy and i dont like the idea of being signed into my acc all the time when i turn on my pc. And if you dont use your acc u cant acess the store so yeh XD.

My favorite would have to be windows 7.

However ive never used a mac but I dont like how apple does their stuff so i doubt id like it.

Then we come to linux i havent messed around a ton with this but i did try unbuntu and i liked it but i couldnt get most of my programs without using wine or w/e so i went back to windows.

Windows 10 looks promising but we will have to see. I would like to see an overhaul in the user interface customization though but i doubt we will get that.

I'm currently using OS X Yosemite and I'm really loving the sleek update it had on the computer's design from Mavericks. I've been using both Windows and OS X for a long time now and I know full well how to operate both. Windows is indeed a good operating system, and I like it because of the ability to customize and its ability to run most of the cool games. Many video games are not made to be compatible to Macs, but I'm not really a gamer so I chose the OS X's sleek interface and features over Windows. I find Macs way easier to run, especially with the hand gestures on the touchpad that I find really useful when I'm working. I do run Windows 8 on my Mac sometimes via BootCamp for apps I can't use on Mac though. But honestly, I think if most people tried to run a Mac for a year, they wouldn't go to WIndows anymore (unless they're in it for the games).
