If anyone has played LC for even a short amount of time, you will see 2 Pokémon will pop up in a discussion a lot. Diglett, or the one we wil be talking about,

    Misdrevus

Misdrevus' ban was one of the closest bans ever on smogon and therefore it was very controversial. Some believe that 'Missy' was a balanced and fair Pokémon who could be used but also countered. However, saying this. Misdrevus allowed SD-Lum Berry Fletchling to set up, eat a Lum Berry to negate the Will-O-Wisp burn and then proceed to sweep with a stupidly fast Gale Wings Acrobatics. Whilst this wasn't too broken thanks to Thunderbolt also becoming a thing on Misdrevus, it was still bloody scary and any team without a sturdy-juicer with hazard removal or Physically Defensive Porygon was done for. This limited team-building and hence got banned.

However, have you ever heard the joke, "How many Smogon staff would it take to fit a light-bulb? None, they'd just ban it for being broken" before? I have, a lot of times. Let me explain:

Misdrevus could run defensive Perish Trapping sets to completely wipeout Bulky Offense when partnered with Magnemite or Chinchou, Offensive Life Orb with coverage, Bog-Standard Defense which was very difficult to pull of then, even more now or Stall-breaker with Taunt and Will-O-Wisp. This makes him seem very broken, no? Well. His main down-side was the fact that anything not called Bulky Offense could wall him. He was just too predicable and thanks to that, any good player knew the set, the EV's, how much damage it'd to the single Percent. he was just so over centralized and that worked against him. Also any good team carries Pawniard and Misdrevus could do nothing to pawniard or ANYTHING which was named 'Revenge Killer'. Because of that, he required a lot of support from walls like Spritzee and Chinchou which was taken out by Bellsprout under the sun any day of the week which, yet again was extremely common back then.

So what do you think given your own experience with LC or the information I have given you? Is Misdrevus balanced or does he let too many things set up and annihilate a popular play-style? Tell me!
