As better internet connections become more widespread and gaming becomes a more sociable activity, streaming video games has become more popular, with some internet personalities even going so far as to build up a career around it. Have you ever tried your hand at livestreaming a video game before? Do you find that you perform better or worse when you have other people watching you play games? Ever watched anyone livestream a game you're interested in?
Nope, nope, nope, and nope. I don't play video games all that much, and feeling pressure to be good makes me panic, so when I play, I'm alone and just bored as I try not to think about the outside world and what they would say about me. Though this does help with my storywriting as I take ideas based off the actions of game characters to write. So, the positive of me not really watching but playing is the writing. But the positive of if I do watch is that I get to see the people as they are without really much change to them. After all, in editing, you can do whatever you want. Live, you can't do that as easily or as sneakily.
I'm into gaming videos, but I've never been super into livestreaming. It may be because they seem to be a lot longer. I've never streamed, but given recent Discord conversations, I may just give it a shot. I definitely do worse when people watch me play, though.
I stream on occasion - just my PC games so far, since I don't have any consoles or any way to stream said games. I actually plan on streaming regularly during my month-long winter break, due to not having an actual job. I enjoy playing games, and I enjoy talking about them, so while I'm not exactly photogenic I really feel like this would be a good fit for me. My Twitch handle is the same as my name here, in case you're interested.
I haven’t streamed on my own channel before, but I’ve been on my friend’s stream a couple times. The only games we’ve streamed is Minecraft. Said friend also streams Fortnite, but since I have no interest in it, so I won’t be in the stream. I don’t really feel pressured, as 1) I’m not the one hosting the stream, and 2) Usually, less than 10 people watch it.
Personally, I've only streamed once or twice. I personally don't feel much different besides the fact that I have to talk to myself for the sake of commentary (That is, if someone actually watched my stream).
I've done a little public streaming before - I did a lot of Dark Souls III when it first came out - but I don't like sharing my voice so I don't make for the most engaging of viewing. I've never been one to watch streams unless I know the person doing the streaming because if I'm interested in a game I will just play it myself. xD
I have a friend who livestreams. I once played Minecraft with her on one of her streams on a Skyblock server. It really wasn't any different from playing Minecraft normally with her, to be honest. I don't livestream by myself, and I'm always too lazy to catch a stream anyway.
I’ve thought about streaming (what with me already having a habit of commenting on games while playing them), but getting all of the equipment necessary to stream console games sounds like a real hassle. The only person I’ve watched through streaming is Balrog, a YouTube I’ve been following for several years.
I myself don't stream, but I attend a few streams as a co-commentator. Another website I help out with mod-related work has gaming streams and I've attended ~4-5 now. We haven't in a while due to health and irl issues but I hope it starts again someday.
