Have you guys ever tried to complete a living Dex in a Pokémon game? This means have a copy of every single Pokémon inside your PC boxes. You can then transfer them all to later games to help finish most of your new Pokédex.

If you haven't already, would you like to or doesn't a living Dex interest you?

It depends on your definition of "every single". I usually try to keep every single fully evolved Pokémon currently invented onhand, but I won't intentionally keep track of, for instance, a Totodile and a Croconaw when I still have a Feraligatr onhand. There's what, 720 Pokémon in the world? That divided by 30 spaces per box is 24 jam-packed boxes. And what if you go the extra mile with weird situations like Wormadam and Rotom? Even wilder.

I think I had that full evo done in Soul Silver, maybe missing just a few Legendaries or something. I even ordered the fully evolved Pokémon in dex order and all, leaving spaces for those few missing. It really is kind of satisfying, to be that close to a literal interpretation of gotta catch 'em all.

I really don't think that a living dex would be that fun. I would be fine just completing the Pokédex normally... It would be too much of a chore in my opinion. I'll generally just have the Pokémon at their final evolutions and that is all.

I've never tried this. Completing the National Dex in X was a chore enough. Even with every clone, the process of trading them all would still be far too tedious for what current patience I have now. If I ever get the time and/or motivation to complete a Pokédex again, then maybe I will. Can't say anything for certain right now. Yes, we have access to Bank now, but there's also the issue of "cloning" some of the legendaries, especially the hard-to-get (without hacking programs) legendaries. I'm afraid of cloning glitches because there's always the possibility of having your save file erased, or some other misc. issue.

I managed to pull it off, thanks to a bunch of people's help. It's a bit weird having them all, honestly. There's not much to do anymore!

I've tried doing that, but I couldn't get all of them. I then transferred what I had to my B/W game, as I was playing D/P/PT when I first did this.

I'm interested in the concept, but I'm not that into completing the dex. I like to do things my own way and train the current Pokémon I have instead of stuffing them in the box for all eternity.

Having a Living Dex is the only difficult goal I have set for myself outside of normal game play. I didn't know thats what it was called but thats been my goal since getting it back into the series. I have a decent amout done between my Pokémon X and Alpha Sapphire, I also have a fresh copy of Omega Ruby which once I get started on will hopefully help a lot. I also obtained a copy of Pokémon white which I'm going to hopefully be able to find a way to transfer Pokémon from.

I completed my living dex in Pokémon X around January 2014 if I remember correctly. It was definitely worth it because you get the Oval Charm (egg chance) and the Shiny Charm (shiny chance). Not to mention, completing my Pokédex in Omega Ruby was as simple as transferring my whole living dex through Pokebank.
